Final exams are over and Winter Break has officially begun! Our teachers 👨🏾🏫 👩🏼🏫 celebrated with the fourth annual “Ugly Sweater Contest”! Check out the winners! 🏆 From Granada Hills Charter, we wish everyone a happy, healthy holiday season! ❄️ ⛄️
The app competition that I competed in took place around the time of the midterm elections, so I wanted to make something to help people decide who to vote for. The app is set up like a quiz that asks about your personal and political viewpoints and uses an algorithm to match you with a candidate who most closely represents your beliefs. My parents and all of my siblings actually ended up using it to help them vote this year! For winning the app contest, I get $350 and I'm invited to the House of Code Summit in Washington D.C. next year. While there I'll get to show my app to members of Congress and other tech people. If you want to check it out, my app will be displayed on TheHouse.gov website! -Tristan Ha
Want to see the art your peers have made this semester in a real art gallery? 🎨🖼 Well here is your chance! CSUN is hosting the 22nd High School Invitational showcase, where art made by students from over thirty different San Fernando Valley high schools have been selected to be in the gallery! There will be a variety of media, including painting, sculpture, ceramics, graphic design, illustration and photography. The gallery is open January 7-19 on the CSUN campus, so make sure to check it out and go to www.csun.edu/artgalleries for more info! 😊
Congratulations to senior Hayley Berfield on being named CalHiSports.com SoCal Player of the Week! Hayley had 71 total points in four games and received the MVP award in the John Burroughs tournament. Her week was highlighted by a 27-point performance in a semifinals win against Harvard-Westlake and a 28-point effort in a win against Chaminade in the tournament final. Great accomplishment for Hayley and the team!! #WeAreAllHighlanders
Recognize these students and campus? We are celebrating 15 years of being a charter school and all California charter schools are public, free, and open to all. But most importantly, we put kids first. Let's redefine what it means to attend a public high school. #DiscoverCharterSchools
Congratulations to the AHA Intramural Flag Football 2018-19 Champions!
Salma Tarzi, GHC senior and ASB president, was honored in the annual Granada Hills Holiday parade along with student body presidents from other local high schools. The theme was Holidays of the Future and we join the community in saluting these young leaders of tomorrow!
A drizzly lunch time! ☔️
This holiday season, the GHC Robotics team is spreading STEM cheer by building a stage for LEGO robots and donating them to children in local hospitals. ❤☃️🌲
After graduating from Granada in 2013, I went to CSUN for college. While there, I joined the student Taiko (Japanese Drumming) ensemble after seeing them perform. I didn't have any musical or percussion experience, but they didn't require any so I thought, why not? I ended up being a member for my entire college career and served as a director for two years. It was the perfect combination of performance group, social club, and workout class. That's me on the right in the photo! John Teves, Office Assistant #MeetTheStaffMonday
