Horizon Housing Foundation along with St. Louis Association of Community Organizations and Etzel Place V sponsored a music program from November 2016 - May 2017. The seven month project became a cornerstone of learning for children attending the SLACO after school program. The project was led by two professional pianists who held a recital to showcase the children's new found talents. Horizon Housing Foundation in partnership with Parkland Manor has offered Fall Prevention Classes to their senior residents through Lunch and Learn Workshops. The partnership gives Parkland Manor residents the opportunity to learn the tools that they need to live a life free of falls. The workshops offer tips on maintaining your balance, fall prevention and how to recover after a fall. Falls are the leading cause of fatal and non-fatal injuries for older Americans. Falls threaten seniors’ safety and independence and generate enormous economic and personal costs. Falling is not an inevitable result of aging. Through practical lifestyle adjustments, evidence-based falls prevention programs, and clinical-community partnerships, the number of falls among seniors can be substantially reduced. #HorizonMakingADifference #GrowingOldGracefully #FallPrevention
