Megan was a hard worker, buying her first home at 19 & running her first business at 25. With 2 young kids & a high-pressure career, things soon unravelled. “I suffered major burnout,” said Megan. By 33, she’d been living with anxiety, depression & severe adrenal exhaustion for 6 years. “I was constantly tired. I had no energy at all. I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue, anxiety & depression. I was managing on high doses of anti-depressants but there wasn’t much we could do in terms of improving my situation. I was desperate. We tried stepping up exercise, walking for 5 minutes one day & 10 minutes the next, & so on. But even this was too strenuous.” As well as relentless fatigue, she struggled with constant backaches, headaches, high susceptibility to colds & flus, constant cold sores, bloating & constipation. “I knew my depression was a result of the chronic fatigue & adrenal exhaustion. The more tired I was, the worse I'd feel. It was putting a strain on everything: family life, work, everything. Out of desperation, I went to see [an SD certified practitioner].” He spoke to me about Sympathetic Dominance. It was like ticking every box on my list, even things I hadn’t told him about. When he told me that things could improve, I found it really hard to believe but he had so much conviction I thought I’d give it a try. I went on the SD Protocol straight away. I did everything. Previously, I’d feel a little bit of energy & then get up & do things only to fall flat again. Now, I can spend time with family. I can cook dinner. We can even plan trips with my husband & kids! I’m now studying something I enjoy & doing things I love again, things that I couldn’t do before because I was so wiped out.” *DISCLAIMER: Names have been changed and models have been used to protect privacy. Every SD story starts with a stressor – one that can be physical, chemical or emotional. For Melissa*, it started early in life. She experienced the death of a family member when she was 11 years old. Just 2 years later, her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. This catapulted her family into years of stress and heartache as Melissa's Mum suffered secondary tumours and health scares before passing away aged 51. The year of her mother's cancer diagnosis, Melissa's started getting migraines. By the time she was 16, she had left school to start working but her migraines were getting worse. At 18, she was suffering agonising migraines almost daily, with a migraine hangover that would stick with her the following day. She went to doctor after doctor, even spending three months in a pain management hospital, but to no avail. The medication was turning me into a zombie. I tried acupuncture, physio, chiropractic, naturopathy - everything. I was on so much medication that I got to a point where I weighed over 100 kilograms – and I'm only short! Finally someone said to go to this health practitioner about the SD Protocol. I thought, 'Oh here we go again.' I wasn't expecting much. But he was the first person who actually listened. With my migraines, my pain would be at about a 10/10, but would dip to 5/10 after I vomited. [The SD Certified practitioner] said, 'That sounds like its food related.' He got me to do this IgG test, and sure enough I came up as intolerant to wheat, dairy and eggs. I cut that out and lost 37 kilograms in 4 months. Melissa had come in for her excruciating migraines, but upon closer investigation she was also suffering from a number of other classic SD symptoms – bloating, low energy, leaky gut, sensitivity to light, anxiety and depression (due to the constant pain) and so on. I did everything on the SD Protocol. The posture work, the glasses, withania, magnesium, and bone broth. I read the book from cover to cover and made sure I did the lot. The turnaround was amazing and it has given her a new lease on life. These days, I rarely get a migraine unless I eat the wrong food. I don't know myself now.

Stress is that it can be indirect. Watching a loved one face life altering circumstances can create its own emotional toll & result in a stress-response in your own body. That’s what happened with Amanda. “I don’t know how many times I told my friend that her headaches were nothing to worry about. But then she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Wow, that hit me hard.” After her friend was diagnosed, a domino effect was triggered in Amanda’s own life. What followed was 7 years of health-related anxiety, which kept her in a chronically wound-up state. “Every time I felt a symptom – a headache, a pain, whatever – I’d wonder if it was nothing or it if was as bad as cancer. It was causing major stress.” For Amanda, this coincided with the demands of raising a young family. Her health soon started to decline. Eventually her symptoms included brittle nails, dry skin, loss of appetite, anxiety, stress, sleep problems, heavy and painful periods & other problems. “It was all getting to be too much,” she said. “One day, I broke down at the school drop-off. It was the first time I’d cried in front of everyone, but the friend I was talking to gave me a book to read – the SD Protocol. I read it in two days & cried while I was reading it. It described me down to a tee.” “All the things I’d been worried about were in it. I knew something was wrong but nothing was coming up on tests. But it was all there in the book! It was all related and finally it all started making sense.” Amanda got in to see an SD Certified Practitioner, who helped her recognise the stressors and take steps to calm her system down. “I did everything at the start. I stopped eating milk, egg and corn, cut down on wheat, started taking care of my gut. I did meditation, supplements, red lenses, the whole lot.” It wasn’t long before she saw the turnaround. “I feel awesome. I can’t believe it. I feel like me again…but better! *DISCLAIMER: Names have been changed to protect privacy. Results will vary from person to person, and cannot be guaranteed. DEALING WITH THE POSTURE PROBLEM || Every individual, no matter their postural tendencies or their state of sympathetic wind-up, needs to nurture their posture for good health. After all, the spine is the major communication centre of the body. We are going to give you some simple things that each one of us can do to improve our posture and limit sympathetic wind-up in this area over the next coming days. #posture #chiro #chiropractic #lifestyle #wellness #wellbeing #health #healthy
ERGONOMIC ADJUSTMENT 4 - BRUGGER RELIEF POSITION || This exercise is geared at improving and relieving neck pain and back strain. Sit on a fit ball, on the edge of a chair, in the car, or as many places as you can incorporate it into your daily routine. Sit in a neutral spine position, where you hold your head high and roll your shoulders back to open up the chest area, and place your feet slightly apart. Rest your weight on your feet, relaxing your abdominal muscles. Raise your breastboneup. Place your hands out to the side, turning your palms up and your arms outward. Hold the position for ten seconds while taking long deep breaths. #posture #exercises # strecthes #health #wellbeing #wellness #sdprotocol #chiro # chiropractic #healthy #lifestyle
ERGONOMIC ADJUSTMENT 1 - USE A POSTURE REHAB DEVICE || This is simply a foam roller placed along the length of your spine and up behind the head. All you have to do is lie on it! Using one of these for 15 minutes at least once every day can help you passively change your posture. This means that you don't have to do anything. You don't have to activate any muscles. You just have to let gravity do the work. This helps open up the chest area, reduce wind-up in the upper chest/back area and align the head into a neutral position. #posture #sdprotocol #chiro #rehab #lifestyle #health #healthy #wellness #wellbeing
ERGONOMIC ADJUSTMENT 3 - HAMSTRING STRETCH ||Simply lie on the floor near a wall, extending your leg up and away from your body. Place your heel on the wall and keep your knee extended. It may take you a while to work up to having your leg and body at a 90 degree angle, but that's okay. Just stretch as far as you can. This is also a stretch that can be done with a partner if you don't have a suitable wall. #posture #exercises # strecthes #health #wellbeing #wellness #sdprotocol #chiro # chiropractic #healthy #lifestyle
