Well, I've never made this amount of quilt binding in one afternoon before! All ready to send along with 6 quilt tops to a kind lady who will long arm them for @quiltsforgrenfell #quiltersofinstagram #quiltsforgrenfell #stashbusting #quilter #quiltmaker #quiltbinding #scrappybinding #sewingforacause
Sunshades on!! Another quilt top finished for @quiltsforgrenfell It's actually one of two I pieced yesterday. They're single bed size and should make a little boy who like cars and trains smile. Now I just need to make miles of scrappy binding before sending them to a lovely lady who has volunteered to quilt them. #sewingforacause #quiltsforgrenfell #quiltersofinstagram #quiltersoftheworld #quilter #kidsquilt #scrappyquilt #dowhatyoulove #stashbusting
Joining Lucy @charmaboutyou for #saturdaynightcraftalong I'm busy, busy, piecing quilt tops for @quiltsforgrenfell Simple sewing is so therapeutic and I'm freeing up my unloved stash at the same time. #quiltsforgrenfell #quilter #quiltersofinstagram #sewingforacause
Photo taken by @mirandabunting yesterday evening near Grenfell Tower in London, UK which was destroyed by fire, caused considerable loss of life and left so many, many people homeless with nothing but the clothes they stood up in. This photo reminds me just how much good there is in the world and that love really does conquer all. This is the reason I'm spending the next few days diving into my (considerable) fabric stash and making quilts. If you want to help, see either London Modern Quilt Guild's Facebook page for donating 12 1/2 quilted blocks or Quilts For Grenfell Tower Disaster Facebook Page organised by @mxrubyrouge (for donating quilt tops, 12 1/2 or 6 1/2 blocks quilted or not) #quiltsforgrenfell
A repost from @littleislandquilting London Modern Quilt Guild are collecting 12 1/2 quilt as you go blocks to make quilts for people affected by the Grenfel Tower Disaster. All details on the London Modern Quilt Guild Facebook page. I shall be spending the day knee deep in orphan blocks and unwanted fabric, thinking about all those who have been left with nothing but the clothes on their back #thisshouldnothappen #quiltsforgrenfell
Table mat and bag for #ccllnorthwalesquiltbee done! ✔️ The bag has been made for a while and for some reason I thought I had until July, so when Jen @glindaquilts said she was distributing them to children at the end of June, I had to get the mat made quickly. Flying geese were a breeze with my BlocLoc ruler and it's quilted with my walking foot. I love the pattern it has made on the back. Swipe left to see more photos.
I love it when I can start and finish something in under a day! This is a reversible bucket for my 16 month old grandson. Pattern is from Oliver and S Little Things to Sew by Liesl Gibson. Fabric is Cloud 9 Cirrus Solids organic cotton in Ash and Shadow. All made from leftovers in my stash. Swipe to see more photos. I am particularly pleased with the rows of top stitching round the brim and the fact that (just in the nick of time) I remembered to put a different colour thread in the bobbin so it matched on both sides. It makes me ridiculously happy looking at it! If you watched my Instagram Stories earlier in the day so will have seen the video of me painstakingly sewing with my 1/4 foot still on my machine. @archiethewonderdog pointed out to me I should have used no. 5 for top stitching. And she is right of course. I was just too lazy to get up and swap feet before I started! A major re-organisation of my sewing room is needed so I know where everything is before I start!
A few more blocks finished for my Dear Jane quilt. I'm still on Row C! When there are over 40 pieces to sew together in one 4 1/2 block I really do question my sanity! #quiltersofinstagram #quilter #quiltmaker #dearjanequilt #dearjanegoesepp #epp #englishpaperpiecing #handstitched #handsewn #slowstitching #mackandmabeldearjane #quiltersoftheworld #libertyfabric #createveryday #createmakeshare #dowhatyoulove
A very weird coincidence just happened. I've been debating whether to continue with my blog or to have a website instead. At the moment my blog is very neglected and needs a major overhaul. I've tried to use it for both my quilting and my knitting interests and I don't think that works. I just opened my laptop with the intention of writing a blog post to see who still engages with me (Yes, it's been that long!) and there was an email from dotcomgiftshop telling me they had featured my blog in their latest article 14 Fabulous Craft Blogs They linked to this quilt pattern which is a very basic free pattern on my blog! Is that the universe telling me I should keep writing my blog? Do you still read blogs in the same way that we used to a few years ago, and do you care if it has a variety of topics? I would love to know as it might help me make a decision as to which way to jump! #quiltersoftheworld #quiltersofinstagram #quilter #quiltmaker #craftblog
