Managed to squeeze in a beautiful autumnal run whilst my daughter was at her ballet lesson. - As a mum, I always find it hard to find time to exercise so I try to make the most of any opportunity. Her 40 minute lesson is just enough time to run a few km's and do battle with my thunder thighs with a few squats and lunges. - If you need further ideas on how to squeeze in exercise to your busy life, check out the link in my bio.
I have always enjoyed baking. Particularly if it involves chocolate! Baking with the girls adds a whole new element of fun. It gets pretty messy but they are always so eager to help, lick the bowl and peer through the oven window as the cookies bake. These vintage chocolate chip cookies were from the @bbcgoodfood website and were deliciously melt in the mouth. - However, I now have 30 (less the 5 cookies I absentmindedly devoured whilst watching #thehandmaidstale) sugar filled cookies to get through. Given that the kids were on a sugar high after our baking episode I have decided to remove them from the house and take them into work. Which saves my waistline and any further sugar meltdowns from the girls. - I am now on a mission to find some delicious treats to bake that contain little or no sugar. Please let me know if you have any great recipes and I will add it to my next Top 10 blog post.
Loving the new butterfly house at the Horniman Museum in South London. Small but perfectly formed with some incredible species of butterflies. #hornimanbutterflyhouse, #toddlerdaysout, #butterflies, #freedaysoutwithkids, #cheapdaysoutwithkids
Autumn is such a great time of the year. Nature is at it's most beautiful and it provides a whole host of things to do with the kids. Our favourite is collecting shiny conkers which we did Friday afternoon after school. The excitement of discovering a shiny conker still in it's shell. We jumped on the shells with glee as we watched conkers fly out of their prickly cocoons. Only problem is what to do with all the conkers? In the end we did some conker marbling painting but we also plan to make some conker runs using kitchen rolls! For more autumnal activities to do with the kids, check out the link in my bio. Enjoy this incredible time of the year! - #conkers, #autumn, #autumnactivities, #autumnalfun, #autumnwithkids, #conkerfun,
A beautiful spot in the New Forest for a well-earned break after a 18 mile bike ride. - We are not a sporty family, by any stretch of the imagination. But cycling seems to be the only sport we enjoy collectively. We hired bikes from @forestleisurecycling and cycled from Burley to Brokenhurst through meandering forest trails. - My eldest daughter was on a tag-along which she loved as she got to pedal and felt she she was contributing. My youngest was in a child's seat which she preferred to a trailer as she could see what was going on. As we cycled she belted out hits from Moana and Sing so it was like having my own backseat stereo. - A great day out for all. Unusually the kids didn't moan once. We took plenty of breaks, spotted ponies, splashed in streams and got muddy. Best of all, after all that exercise and fresh air, the kids went to bed early and had lie in til 6.45am. Yep...that's as good as a lie- in gets for us! - My eldest loved every second which is good as I have just hired her a pink Frog bike from @thebikeclub. A great new venture where you can hire a kids bike for as little as £5 a month and then upgrade your bike as your child grows.
