Summer is here in Texas and that means lots of adventure, trips to the beach, and squeezing as much joy out of this season as we possibly can! Over the next few months, I'm planning trips to the Georgia coast, the bustling streets of NYC, and even the breathtaking scenery of the PNW. And you can bet that I'll be taking this cute beach-y package along with me! The girl boss team at @wearlively is helping me prep for summer with their new swimwear collection that launched today, and they kindly sent over a high-waisted bikini and the cutest canteen to help me stay cool while temps rise. I can't wait to try this gorgeous suit out on my next beach trip! In fact, the entire collection of swimwear over at @wearlively is worth a look -- it's all so cute and the quality is just 👌🏻. Cheers to summertime and days spent by the water, y'all! #LIVELYswim #livingLIVELY #bisforbonnietravels
Today's agenda is packed full with design work for incredible branding clients, strategy calls to prep for upcoming launches, and a little planning for an exciting addition to the @illumeretreat experience! There's probably a second cup of coffee in my future, but I don't mind one bit. As creatives and entrepreneurs we have this amazing opportunity to pursue work that we love, work that lights us up and brings joy and fulfillment. And that's incredible! But, as with any career, I think it's important to maintain perspective and always focus on what we love about our work instead of allowing it to be mundane, ordinary, or just another part of our routine. After five years, it can be tempting for me to fall into an everyday routine that's lost its spark if I'm not mindful. Personally, I try to design for fun every day for a few minutes to keep challenging myself and to not lose sight of why I love this work! I also write down three highs from each work day at the end of my day to cultivate gratitude and focus on the good aspects of each day. How do you continue to cultivate a sense of passion within your work, boss lady? Sound off in the comments below. I'd love to know!
I see you, boss lady! You're longing to connect with your ideal clients through your email list, all while speaking to them in a clear, confident way that could only come from you. You want to connect with them through an authentic brand voice and engage them through your heartfelt story! But where do you begin? Well, I got you, lovely! From June 4-6, I'm joining my sweet friend @meganmartincreative for an incredibly powerful action class, the Email Marketing Summit. This is a live online event (yoga pants and wine, anyone?) with over 11 industry experts! Plus, you'll have access to all session recordings to revisit whenever you'd like. As a team, we'll teach you how to create an email marketing approach that works for you. And I'll be guiding you through the steps it takes to create a brand story and voice that speaks to your heart while drawing your ideal client in authentically! If you're ready to stop shouting into the void and instead speak clearly, confidently, and purposefully to those who need your work the most, then join me for this amazing live workshop in June! Raise your hand if you ever struggle with packing for a trip! Whether you're packing for a work event or you're just trying to not pack everything in your closet, I totally get it -- it can be tough to pair down your options and bring only what you need. For the past few years, I've been implementing a system that enables me to pack for multi-day trips in one carry on which saves me active mental space and so much time! Over on the blog, I'm kicking off a new addition to my Intentional Travel series showing you the exact outfits I pack when I speak, attend conferences, or travel for client work. Each week, I'll share a different look and showcase how you can pack smartly, look polished for your next creative work trip, and not have to pack 50 different outfits! Today, I'm sharing this look with @everlane for what I wear to teach a day-long workshop. From an oversized chic top to the most buttery soft leather ankle boots, this ensemble is an all-time favorite of mine! So head over to the blog for the full look via the link in my profile.
Earlier this morning, I got to hop on a quick call with a creative who's in the midst of launching her own business. We got to chat about chasing after worthwhile dreams and how her work can fit into the creative industry. And it got me thinking about how special our creative community is. We can come together, whether it's face-to-face or virtually, to build relationships, cheer each other on, and learn how we can build better businesses together! For as lonely as entrepreneurship can feel sometimes as we work away behind our computer screens, it doesn't have to be that way. Whether through an online community group like @risingtidesociety, social media friendships, or simply sending an email to someone you'd like to connect with, you can connect with likeminded creatives all over the world who want to see you succeed! So no matter what kind of day you've hard or what kind of season you're in, know that community is closer to you than you think. And remember that I'm always cheering you on from Waco! In the comments below, tag a friend you're grateful to have a part of your community so we can celebrate this amazing industry together! 👭
Earlier this year, I got an email from the founder of @ssekodesigns excitedly introducing me to their Sseko Sole Sister program and even inviting me to be a part of it! I've been a long-time follower of the Sseko brand and I so admire their socially conscious business model that empowers women in Uganda to earn scholarships for university while learning marketable skills at the Sseko headquarters. So when I learned about their Sole Sister program, I was equal parts honored and thrilled to get connected! You see, friend, the Sole Sister program pairs one woman here in the States with one member of the Sseko team in Uganda to build international community. Together, we learn each other's stories and cheer one another on in our journeys as we go! Today on the blog, I'm sharing more about the Sseko Sole Sister program and a little bit about my sweet sole sister Shakira! Head over via the link in my bio for the full story (and there just may be a generous discount code from @ssekodesigns, too!).
Whew, what a Wednesday! It's been fun, work day, but I'm excited to walk out that door and say hello to a glass of wine and a snugly golden pup. For as much as I adore my clients and the work that I do, I've found having strong boundaries between my professional and personal time has been crucial to my emotional, mental, and creative well-being. For me, strong work/life boundaries don't just look like office hours. They also include boundaries with social media, any client communications via text or phone, as well as time spent on my computer. Come 5pm, everything shuts down so I can refuel, spend time with those who matter most, and pour back into myself so I can be my best for my clients the next day. Not all routines need to be 9-5, by the way! That's just what works for some of us in our current seasons of life. Knowing what works for you and what those hours look like are totally up to you, boss lady. How do you build a routine that works for you, friend? Tell me all about it in the comments below!
Hi, there! My name is Bonnie and I'm a brand designer and strategist for creatives, a speaker, small business educator, and chips and salsa aficionado. I'm grateful everyday to call Waco home alongside my handsome hubby and our rambunctious golden retriever named Boone! I started #bisforbonnie right out of college with little more than a laptop, an idea, and a whole lot of gumption. Since those early days, I've worked like crazy to build a six-figure business that enables me to do what I love -- empower women to connect with their stories through the brands they build! More than the dollars in the bank or the cool business opportunities, I believe this little business of mine has allowed me to live out my dreams, even when I didn't know quite what those dreams could look like. And it started with a wild leap of courage-mixed-with-faith and a willingness to do the work no matter how many times I made mistakes or fell flat on my face! (And trust me, that happened A LOT.) I'm here to encourage you in the truth that you have everything you need to get started. You are worthy of chasing your dreams as much as anyone, and it all starts at that point where bravery and action meet! Whatever your dreams may look like, I'm always here cheering you on from Waco, friend. Now pop into the comments below and introduce yourself! I can't wait to meet you there. 👯
