We wear a dress to give the women, men and children the voices they don’t have. Because they matter. Because their voices matter. Because their situation matters. I was doing a little research on the statistics of human/sex trafficking from last year and the numbers are heartbreaking. In the year 2017, there were over 8,000 cases of human trafficking reported to the National Human Trafficking Hotline (NHTH). This was a 13% increase from the previous year, not only that, but this was in the United States alone. Worldwide? The International Labour Organization estimates that there are 40.3 million victims globally. 81% of them trapped in forced labor. 25% of them are children. 75% of them are women and girls. I want to stress that this can happen anywhere, to anyone in a multitude of ways. Do your research, know what is happening around you, be aware. Let’s fight so they can go free. humantraffickingsearch.org polarisproject.org
Dressember is already here and I have NO idea how that even happened, thus, I feel ill-prepared. This year, I decided to challenge myself by wearing only TWO dresses. One for work (the black one), and one for the weekends (the red one). Let’s not forget why we are wearing these dresses though. We wear them to remember and fight for the people enslaved in sex trafficking. I hope to see many people step out and make a difference this December!!
Let’s do a little introduction... • My name is Megan (Megs) Leigh Wullschleger. (Wool- Shlegger) • I love Jesus, and though I often fail, I try my best to pursue him and to live for him. • I am planted in the Midwest and have lived in the small town of North Platte, Nebraska all 19 years of my life. 🤷🏻♀️ • I LOVE to travel, especially internationally. I’ve been to Haiti for missions trips twice, and just went on a two week backpacking trip through the Republic of Ireland. 😍 I adore experiencing different countries cultures. • I prefer gloomy/ misty weather, in the mountains with lush woods over sunny weather on the beach. 🌲🌲🏔🏔 • I’m afraid of butterflies 🦋, spiders 🕷, and lets be real, anything that can either land/crawl on me with its nasty legs. 🤢 • I’m an introvert. So to recharge I have to withdraw so I don’t attack anyone (just kidding, I won’t attack...or will I? 🤔). But I love to spend time in conversation with loved ones. • My favorite story of all time is Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. Love the book, adore the movie. I cry every time. • I am a barista, which is probably one of my greatest passions...making good coffee for lovely people. • I am a writer. (Hence picture) I have loved to write for as long as I can remember, and since sixth grade it has been my biggest dream to write and publish a book. Which has led to multiple different story ideas, and multiple unfinished projects- EXCEPT one. I have been writing a book for the past year, and it thrills me to come to the realization that I’m about 3/4 of the way finished with the first draft. 😍🤗 I have NO IDEA what to name it. I mean really, giving books their titles is like naming a child. You have to do it right. For those who read all the way through, good for you. 😉 Tell me a bit about yourself! I would love to know some fun facts. ❤️❤️
Just here to show that we are just as cute now as we were two years ago. Forever my fellow flower child. 😘😍
I’ve been working at the Espresso shop for one year now, and to say I’m thankful is just the beginning. I don’t think I could ever ask for a better, more genuine and loving, UNIQUE, and beautiful group of people to work with. You guys are a blessing to me! Thanks for being amazing. 🙌🏾✌🏻 Here’s to another year! (God willing 😉) 📸: @og_teddyt
“A pleasure is full grown only when it is remembered. You are speaking as if the pleasure were one thing and the memory another. It is all one thing. ...how could we endure to live and let time pass if we were always crying for one day or one year to come back- if we did not know that every day in a life fills the whole life with expectation and memory and these ARE that day?” -C.S. Lewis. “Out of the Silent Planet”
“In friendship...we think we have chosen our peers. In reality a few years' difference in the dates of our births, a few more miles between certain houses, the choice of one university instead of another...the accident of a topic being raised or not raised at a first meeting--any of these chances might have kept us apart. But, for a Christian, there are, strictly speaking no chances. A secret master of ceremonies has been at work. Christ, who said to the disciples, Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, can truly say to every group of Christian friends, Ye have not chosen one another but I have chosen you for one another. The friendship is not a reward for our discriminating and good taste in finding one another out. It is the instrument by which God reveals to each of us the beauties of others.” -C.S. Lewis
My God, you never cease to amaze me. Three days ago, you showed me your goodness and wrapped me in it. And today, you showed off your works of majesty. How sovereign are you. I felt as though I had entered into Narnia, all the fear escaped me, and your goodness calmed me, yet the fear of you was instilled. Thank you, for yet another piece of Heaven, where the sea meets the sky. The wind was so powerful, guys, I thought it was going to knock me right over. But how beautiful is this? If I had lived hundreds of years ago, I would have built my castle on these cliffs. Also, sorry Mom and dad, I got pretty close to the edge, but it was well worth it...I didn’t die! 😘😊
