saudades // no place like this place.
happy thursday 💕
I promise the Portugal pictures will end, one day 😅 this is what happens when someone who always has a camera on ‘em wanders around a picturesque country. 🔸 ANYWAY, that’s besides the point. As pretty as this door is, those missing tiles break my heart. According to a trusty source (my Portuguese friend), she told me that people actually have the nerve to clip off those amazing tiles to re-sell them. I was genuinely shooketh when she told me that. 🔸 Makes me think about the economic situation cause I know it’s not the best there. It’s actually super shitty. My jaw dropped when I found out the minimum wage - which is another story. Made me think that it’s not THAT bad in the states (but could be better). Or do these people just suck and want more money? I mean, these tiles might have just fell off but still, to think that people destroy the beauty of these walls is disheartening. Cause when I think of Portugal, I think of all the iconic tiles used. In person, it’s super impressive how well maintained they are and it’s mesmerizing, really. 🔸 I also wonder what made this door so unique to me cause I passed by a million. Probably when I was taking a break from going up those stairs. 🤷🏽♀️ Let’s just say I was dragging myself up the railing, like look at that incline. Who needs a gym when you can walk around Lisbon. #Emilyrambles #themysteryofthisdoor
