If botanical patterns pique your interest than try playing out with line designs on a scrap of paper. Here's some examples of different style illustrations from my own sketch book. You’ll be surprised by how easy it is to create various foliage types, blossoms and the like. Before long you’ll have painted a jungle! The only difficulty will be deciding which designs to add to your furniture. #AnnieSloan #ChalkPaint #ColouristMag
Add details without adding stress by using my Detail Brush Sets and allowing the different brushes to dictate the shapes you draw. Here I’ve used the Large Round and the Small Flat Brushes to create this pattern! Featuring Chalk Paint® in Provence, Florence and Antoinette. #AnnieSloan #ChalkPaint #Provence #Florence #Antoinette #DetailBrushes
@poppyseedcreativeliving painted this sideboard in a mix of Louis Blue, Pure, and a touch of Aubusson. Chalk Paint® colour mixing is a lot of fun, and when the results can be this beautiful – why hesitate?!
@ildikoh67 used Chalk Paint® in Aubusson and Duck Egg Blue…plus a pinch or two of imagination, and a dash of talent to transform this furniture. What do you think? Recipe for success?
Today we’re visiting Heart and Home in Rotterdam @heartandhome010! Annelie (right) has been an Annie Sloan Stockist for almost 5 years. Bianca (left…obviously) was originally a customer but joined the Heart & Home Team in January of this year and the two work brilliantly together (I can say this with confidence having just had them visiting my factory in Oxford for a Stockist workshop!). Annelie is something of a Workshop Wonder! She has a very popular Masterclass which runs over three evenings; during the first two evenings attendees learn techniques and on the final evening they create their own masterpiece. This year Heart ~& Home even fulfilled their long standing dream organising a “Workshopfestival” with the other shops in their street. All the shops offered workshops for free, and at Heart & Home people could make their own tote bag with Chalk Paint®. How fun is that?! For Christmas they’re running festive themed workshops using the Detail Brushes and if you make it then #AnnieSloan #ChalkPaint #Rotterdam
Blue beauty. There’s a step-by-step guide to creating this stunning ombre in the back of The Colourist, written by @ildikoh67 herself. Pick up a copy and see for yourself how easy it is (just so long as you’re armed with the correct tools – you’d be surprised what household item Ildiko uses to ensure a smooth gradient...! 😉)
This is my glamorous cover star from inaugural issue of The Colourist in her full glory. She doesn't get out of bed for less than $10,000. I used a base of Chalk Paint® in Giverny, a pack of my Detail Brushes, some Josef Frank inspiration, and then basically let the brushes take me where they wanted! Flick through The Colourist to see my feature on Josef Frank and fall in love yourselves.
@lucytiffney painted this kitchen island in Chalk Paint® in Antoinette, English Yellow and Antibes for the eminently stylish @ciaraelliott. I love how Lucy has repeated the triangular squiggle design in a border above the worktops, too. Such a fresh and fun update! #AnnieSloan #ChalkPaint #KitchenIsland #PaintedKitchen
@Pantone have just revealed their colour for 2019; it's named Living Coral and I was able to mix it using 1 part Emperor's Silk to 3 parts Tilton, which I will demonstrate later during my Facebook Live (5pm GMT - see you there!). This particular coral is vibrant and alive! It’s a fun and energetic colour, but down to earth too. It’s uplifting but rooted in nature! It’s one of my favourite Pantone Colours in years, and I feel that it’s representative of people’s search for something solid in current unstable times. People want to feel optimistic and grounded. What do you all think?? #Pantone #PantoneColourOfTheYear2019 #Pantone2019 #PantoneColourOfTheYear #LivingCoral
This beautiful room is painted in my Annie Sloan Wall Paint Country Grey and Napoleonic Blue. With Chalk Paint® accents in Paris Grey, and fabric in my Antoinette and Old White Coloured Linen. Would you consider something like this for your living room? Would you make any changes? I ummed and aahed about adding a rug in this space for a long time, but eventually decided I wanted the Old White washed floorboards to be visible.
Chalk Paint® Is…making my dreams a reality! Chalk Paint® has given me incredible opportunities. I’m currently gathering projects to feature in the second issue, and I already feel so excited to share more it with you all! Having this creative space to shout about ideas and individuals I admire truly is a dream come true. But most importantly, I want to know: What is Chalk Paint® to you? My Stockist @Mag_Handmade painted this beautiful design in a soft and romantic Chalk Paint® colour palette including Duck Egg Blue, Antoinette and Old White. The detailed floral design reminds me of the botanical illustrations from The Colourist – floral and feminine but still current.
Happy #StockistSunday! Join me in Carmathen, the idyllic town in Wales where you’ll find my Stockists @vintageteapartyco. Shelley and her team of talented staff (including Tracey, who painted the design on the first slide) have been Annie Sloan Stockists since 2012. Which somehow is 6 years ago now! During this time they’ve developed a pretty country style beloved of their customers. Don’t forget your Annie Sloan Stockist this Christmas – be sure to pop by for creative inspiration, gifting ideas galore, and leave with a fair few friends and family ticked off your present buying To Do list!
@TamsynMorgans had her studio wall replastered and was rather taken with the organic colours and textures of the plain plaster! She decided to make a feature of the soft colours and finish by using just a wash of Chalk Paint® in Old White, then added extra dimension by allowing the paint to drip and run. So simple but so beautiful! If you love the way this is pretty, but punk, feminine but not fussy, you have to grab a copy of The Colourist. We did a whole photoshoot at Tamsyn's home and it's Interiors heaven. #AnnieSloan #ChalkPaint #ColouristMag #FeatureWall #TexturedWalls
