DOG ADOPTIONS | BEAUTIFUL BAXTER Meet Baxter! This handsome 2 year old bloodhound cross has been waiting patiently at GAWS for his new forever family for a few weeks now. While his stature and sad face might look a little intimidating at first, Baxter is an absolute lovebug once he gets to know you! He has lived with children before, however he would be best suited to children over the age of ten, as he forgets just how big he is sometimes. Since arriving at GAWS, Baxter has been attending social club with other big dogs, and has a ball playing and running with his new friends! He also loves playing fetch with his human buddies. Baxter hasn't had too much training, but with the help of his new family, there's no limit to what he'll be able to do with a bit of help. If you think big, beautiful, Baxter could be your new best mate, please head on in to GAWS to meet him! Baxter's adoption fee is $295 - this includes microchipping, vaccination, flea and worm treatments, and of course, desexing. #adoptdontshop #geelonganimalwelfaresociety #gaws #bloodhound
PUPPY ADOPTIONS | APPLICATIONS OPEN Meet the gang! Our lovely foster carer has done it again, with a litter of 9 beautiful puppies that are almost ready to go to their forever families! These little guys are an unusual mix of breeds - Jack Russell terrier x whippet x kelpie. They will inherit a mix of traits from these breeds, and will be medium sized dogs as adults. They love to run about and play, but are also very snuggly little guys and gals! At only 8 weeks old, these pups are the perfect age for learning new things. They would greatly benefit from attending puppy school to help them learn to be model canine citizens! If you think one of these pups could be the new member of your family, please come down to GAWS this weekend (15 & 16 September) and pick up an application. The puppies are available for viewing in Dog Adoptions right now. The adoption fee for these little ones is $495. This includes microchipping, vaccinations, flea and worm treatment, and of course, desexing! #puppies #adoptdontshop #gaws #geelonganimalwelfaresociety #dailycuteness #dogsofgeelong #foster #fosterpuppies
Meet Harry! Harry, a Kelpie x Lab is a beautiful older boy who thinks he is a tiny lap dog. Nothing makes him happier than cuddling up with his human on the couch. Harry has no vices - he loves people, is gentle with children, calm and collected around cats and friendly with dogs. He is a submissive dog and can be a bit timid, but has shown no fear aggression at all. All he wants is love and warmth. Harry could do with some weight loss, to reduce the level of pressure off his hip (Harry has hip dysplasia). He is toilet trained, has shown no destructive behaviour, loves squeaky toys and has never barked. Could your home be Harry's forever home? #adoptdontshop #geelonganimalwelfaresociety #gaws #fureverhome
With all this freezing weather, it's almost feeling like time to celebrate Xmas in July! And what better way to celebrate than to have a give away special. The following cats are desperate to break out of the shelter and find their forever homes. Each of these individuals have been in our care for at least 70 days. To help promote these beautiful felines, we will give away a small cat hamper with these cats to help set up their new homes. The cat hamper includes litter tray, litter scoop, double diner bowl, collar with a bell, small blanket, ball bell toy, 2kg of CatMate Litter and a small sample pack of Science Diet Hills kitten food. If you are looking for a feline friend, or know someone who is thinking about adopting, please consider these deserving animals. They have spent so much time with us and though we love to care for them here, we know they will be forever grateful to be in a home of their very own. Head over to our Facebook page to see info on each of the individual cats! Come on Geelong! We need these beauties home.
Meet Lady and Chino. These two Staffy X met in their assessment last week and bonded so much they wouldn't leave each others side. So much they ended up staying overnight in the same pen, now they are in foster care together to gain some weight. It's not often we see 2 dogs bond so quickly together, it is actually quite special to watch. Social Club is great for the dogs to get out and we can see their real personalities. They become more socialised and well mannered and it's a great way to tire out your dogs for the day. We will be advertising these two cuties when they have finished in foster care. It would be great if they could be adopted together, but they will be fine if separated also. Lady (the tan staffy) is very gentle, can live with cats and other dogs. Chino is younger, he is a little more puppy like and can also live with cats. If you would like your dog to meet some friends in Social Club, please come down from 9:30 Sunday - Wednesday and give your dog an hour of play. We also run Greyhound Social Club for all the Greyhound owners out there. Call us - 52482091 Email: firstname.lastname@example.org for bookings
GAWS GRADUATE UPDATE: ''About a year ago my partner and I adopted Missy, her name remained the same she's the tortoise shell my partner adopted her without me knowing, I fell in love with her so much so we adopted another and her name is Violet (Leah at the shelter) she is the Tabby. We had a few hiccups with territory when we got our second cat but as we can see in the photos they are still quiet close. When we got Violet she was very quiet and extremely clingy with me especially. Since then she has really came out and became the biggest smoocher ever, she's very patient with children and is very lazy! When we got Missy she was very curious and a little confused she was very scared of anyone who wasn't my partner, since then she's started spending time with everyone who comes in to visit, she's a very friendly hyperactive cat, Missy still struggles with young children but without a doubt leaves her comfort zone to try she's very playful and even plays fetch now. They're both amazing cats and suit us and our household well. I couldn't imagine our lives without them! Thankyou Gaws for giving us the opportunity to love and home these 2 blessings Love from 2 very pleased owners and 2 incredible cats xx''
