So I collect the trimmings, leave it to get bone dry then pop them in a bucket of water to break down. Working with clay, they are constantly in and out of water, glaze, slip..and they get sore and cracked particularly during the cold, winter months. They are probably at their worst after I have spent the day sanding and polishing. The dust gets everywhere and highlights just how dry my hands get from working with clay. Sanding is an important step of my process. I use diamond sanding pads of various grit grades to achieve a super smooth, silky to touch finish. It best shows off the raw porcelain and produces a lovely tactile product.   • Branding' #marchmeetthemaker My logo features on the bottoms of all the pottery I make. I originally started out using a stamp to impress the logo into the clay but I didn't like the finish. I cast my pots quite thin and the stamp made too much of an impression or no impact at all if I pressed lightly. I soon switched to ceramic transfers that I apply to glaze. I like the finish and it makes for a really clear to read logo. I've often thought about trying black underglaze and a stamp but yet to experiment with this method. I designed the logo myself and I draw all the artwork for my branding.
