Below are some Frequently Asked Questions we have been receiving about food storage and shelf life: Q: How long is your food good for? A: If the bag has been opened, we typically like to see it used within a month. If the bag has NOT been opened, the food should be safe to feed until the expiration date with proper storage. Our inventory turnover is very high meaning our food is fresh at the store and therefore most bags of food should have at least 10 to 12 months shelf life. Q: How do I store extra bags of unopened food? A: Food should be stored in a cool and dry location. It is also important that it is not exposed to high fluctuations in temperature as changes in ambient temperature increase the oxidation rate of the naturally-preserved fats. Q: Where do I find the expiration date on the bag? A: Expiration dates can be found on the back panel toward the bottom. You should see “BFB” followed by the date (dd-mmm-yy). The date on the 15lb and 30lb bags is a little hard to read. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and are working on a solution for the next round of bag designs!
