• Our hammered teardrop Ballard Hoops in reclaimed sterling. Very lightweight and kind of perfect in every way, just like their namesake neighborhood of Seattle. Happily my brother and sister-outlaw have lived there for the past 30 years (woah, where did that time go? 😱) so, yay, we get to visit occasionally. Happy Weekend!

  • Mother Nature: how does she do it? Inspires, soothes and heals again and again... 🌎 I admit, my enthusiasm for getting outside despite the cold is seriously waning (❄️)... but I’m so glad I succumbed this evening because one of my favorite walks never ever disappoints. #newengland #whenindoubtgooutside

  • Perfect little studs for every day, the Carole studs are named after my mom. She’s the one who suggested, 17 years ago, that I try jewelry making (i.e. something small) when I was hugely pregnant and finishing a massive public art project, a ceramic mural… and finding it very hard to maneuver myself. I think she was on to something, what do you think?

  • Did you know that *just asking this question* activates the brain to release dopamine and starts a cascade of feel-good benefits. Woah! Dopamine is the neurotransmitter which increases serotonin levels and is associated with feelings of joy, pleasure, reward and motivation. All the feel-good stuff. So whether you’re feeling grateful or finding it hard to feel grateful for anything (yes, we all go there), just ask yourself the question: “What am I grateful for?” No pressure for answers because your amazing brain is off and running with the question and things immediately shift at the physiological level. A pretty cool and easy way to elevate your day!
💕
Still with me? Leave a comment and let me know what you’re grateful for today. I’m grateful for my down comforter with fuzzy fleece lining. (Yes it’s spring but we’re still enjoying sub-freezing temps here overnight!).🔥

  • I learned the traditional Japanese tea ceremony from an amazing marine biologist and mathematician friend when I was in graduate school studying marine environmental science. I helped her learn the subtleties of American English and to navigate the American culture, and she opened my world to many things Japanese. I have recently revived my practice of making Matcha tea. I think the meditative ceremony is as beneficial as the tea itself.
🍵
Matcha has an almost inexhaustible list of health benefits. It is packed with antioxidants including the powerful EGCg; Boosts metabolism and burns calories; Detoxifies effectively and naturally; Calms the mind and relaxes the body; Is rich in fiber, chlorophyll and vitamins; Enhances mood and aids in concentration.
