First #ponytailmunchiesSTREETFOOD of the year!! I know its been a full on week for so many of you. I want to share this great noodle spot because to me, little moments like these remind me of the goodness that our Universe has in abundance. Rani (รานี) is a mum ‘n pop eatery near Ari BTS. They do bbq and crispy pork very well. You can have it in soup noodles with a clear stock, or over rice with an unctuous gravy. First time here but definitely coming back often! 3.5 🐴’s. Thank you @buranee.s for showing me.

Woooo what a treat to have @aaronplevine on for the first podcast of the year ! Aaron is a heavy-hitter in the fashion business thanks to his obsessive passion and refreshingly honest outlook. Over a year ago he started a personal project on his instagram to share brutally honest perspectives from creatives in the field. WHAT A VIBE! Today we did a lil swap so listen to the podcast and head over to his space. Full podcast at my site or wherever you get your podcasts. #theponytailshow

Quick ‘Kuay Tiew Kua Gai’ at เปี๊ยกผัดไท on Ari Soi 2 ! This is a simple wok fried rice noodle dish with chicken dish thats speedy and loved by most. It most definitely came from Southern China but Thais have embraced it in their own unique way. This spot only make 2 fried noodle dishes, the other being ‘Pad Thai’ which was born in the 30s when prime minister Plaek Phibunsongkhram tried to ‘galvanize nationalism’. Anyways, Kuay Tiew Kua Gai is best when its got plenty of crispy bits that form when its cooked on hot coals. This spot was tasty but not my first choice if we’re gonna get nerdy. 3/5 🐎’s. Also, my tee today is a humble shoutout to @thegodofcookery who has a project called ‘Chinese Protest Recipes’. HIGHLY recommend checking it out. It is very inspiring and I look forward to trying out some recipes with mum over the break. #ponytailmunchiesstreetfood

Another outstanding spot in my neighborhood, ร้านปัณณ์ (ข้าวแกงปักษ์ใต้) “Bunn Southern Rice & Curry Shop”. This is another family owned business who pour their hearts and souls into their food. Auntie Bunn here has had the business for 7 years and she prides herself on the best produce. I love their nam prik which is what I’m having today, a powerful chili paste dip eaten with crispy Thai mackerel and veggies. 5 out of 5 🐎’s because they care about every single detail and I love how everyone in the shop calls me ‘my child’... bless them and their magical food ! #ponytailmunchiesSTREETFOOD

Dancing Duck Noodles (ก๋วยเตี๋ยวเป็ดเต้นระบำ) on Rama IV road in Bangkok continues to be my favourite duck noodle shop in town. Not only because they are a mum n pop restaurant but because they truly love doing what they do. They strive for the best and they are so proud of the business they have built. This is the tastiest duck consommé cooked with five spice, poured over perfectly cooked duck and noodles. I always get a side of slow cooked duck, you can choose what part of the duck you like, but it comes in this unctuous duck reduction that kicks any Michelin starred restaurant up the butt. FIVE out of 5 🐎’s. Not holding back. #ponytailmunchiesSTREETFOOD
