A3 Abstract Geometric print DM for enquiries
Scintilla n. a tiny trace or spark of a specified quality or feeling. Normally I have a name in mind before I start painting but this one was unnamed until adding it to Bluethumb. I love to start with textured bases and see what comes from it and how I can use the texture to influence the direction of light and darkness. Unlike most artists I started with dark colours and then adding lighter highlights. I love the hint of glimmers in the top right corner so I took that cue to find a name fitting the painting. Inspired by @world_of_mik 's latest post about the real life of being an artist. It's hard. Super hard - putting your style out there and hoping it resonates with someone.. anyone. I've put a lot of money and energy into the past 5 years of trying to 'become an artist'. I think I've been doing it for the wrong reasons. I've been doing it for other people and not myself. I've cut down a lot on spending too much money on materials because the reality is that if I have 20 paintings no one wants then painting another 20 the same way won't help. I'm going to focus on practice and trying to hone my style on select pieces. I'm also going to close my shopify store and set up a free portfolio on wordpress so you can still follow along my journey 😊 Thanks to all my supporters !
