“It was pleasure working in partnership with Major Mike Campagna and the CMPD. Creating this workshop together helped us all empathize, sympathize and humanize ourselves so we can communicate and problem solve together. I'm glad to say there is a Constructive Conversation Team of officers that #CMPD has created from that workshop and Heal Charlotte fully supports them!” - Greg Jackson, Founder of @healcharlotte on the Protest Reenactment Workshop created to bridge the gap of misunderstanding between CMPD and passionate protestors. #RealPeopleofCLT
Doing GOOD for someone else with no expectation of reward is ironically one of the most rewarding things we can do. #mondaymotivation
Standing at 17 feet tall and coming in at 1,400 pounds, the Firebird Statue (aka Disco Chicken) has not always called CLT home. Did you know this unique piece actually traveled city to city before landing outside of the @thebechtler in 2009?
I believe that everyone has skills and gifts they can contribute to people and organizations in need. When Shreya asked me to help with the development and growth of @foundationforgirls I was honored to do so. In addition to mentoring and supporting Shreya and FFG in a variety of roles, I immediately knew I could help develop a financial literacy program, which was relevant to the young people FFG served. I created a curriculum of topics comprising basic bank products and how to choose which works best for you; managing and reconciling your account; renting; career identification; goals and budgeting; borrowing basics including the real cost of credit and predatory lenders; understanding income taxes; and background checks and credit reports. Workshops are small groups learning through hands-on activities. In four years FFG's Financial Well Being program has grown from a single volunteer conducting workshops - me - to a team of volunteers each contributing their variety of professional expertise and life experiences. I am thrilled with the impact we've made for Charlotte's homeless, trafficking survivors, teen moms and other youth in crisis. - Liz Mockler, Foundation For Girls #RealPeopleofCLT
