  • It’s great who you catch up with at the Field Days. This afternoon I bumped into Maggie de Rooy - apple pie maker extraordinaire. Her pies are available in Orange at Wholefoods and also Cafe Latte and they are seriously good. #anfd #fielddays #applepie #buylocal

  • I am delighted with the news horticulturalists have today been included in the On-farm Emergency Water Infrastructure Rebate Scheme. It will have a major impact on our orchardists and wine growers. Visit my website for all the information.

  • It was a pleasure to welcome the Acting Prime Minister @m_mccormackmp to the electorate today. Our farmers are doing it tough at present and it was great to meet Yeoval prime lamb producer Philip Blowes who is taking an innovative approach to drought feeding - turning a tonne of wheat into six tonnes of sprouts in just a week. #drought #innovation #farmfodder #yeoval #primelambs #aussiewhitesheep

  • 🚗🚚 The 1.4km upgrade of Forest Road in Orange was officially unveiled today. The $4.2 million project includes 120 additional car parks spaces at Sir Jack Brabham Park, new cycle ways, kerb and guttering and new traffic lights to the entrance to the hospital. This is a great example of all three tiers of government working together on a vital piece of road infrastructure in our community. 🚑 🚚

  • I joined well-known gardening writer Judith Horton OAM, Lithgow Mayor Ray Thompson and members of the Daffodils at Rydal committee, to officially launch the event earlier this week.

Rydal comes alive in Spring with the festival running during the next two weekends - 7-8 September and 14-15 September.

The society has raised $193,000 since 2002 from the $15 admission, which they then give back to local charities.
Impressively, the event attracts roughly 1500 people each year and the admission fee allows visitors to enjoy all the gardens, music, heritage buildings, sculptures and art show. For more information – visit rydal.com.au

  • Last week the “Little Green Van” made its long-awaited return to the road. It was spotted in Kandos, Rylstone, Mudgee and I even managed to drop into Wellington on my way home to give it a tub. I was pleasantly surprised by people’s reaction to the mobile office - so expect to see it out and about on my travels. #vanlife #littlegreenvan #vannydevito #andrewgeemp

  • Today we have lost one of Australia’s finest with the passing of Tim Fischer AC.

I share the sentiments of my party room colleagues and many constituents as Tim was a giant of The National Party, he was a giant of Australia, but more than that, he was a champion for regional and rural communities.

He was a proud Australian who embodied the very best qualities of loyalty, kindness, empathy, courage and humility. He will be missed and my thoughts go out to his family at this time of loss.

  • The Wellington Sub-branch celebrated it's centenary of service to members and the community at a dinner at the Wellington Soldiers Club last week.
The Sub-branch is believed to be the second oldest sub-branch west of the Great Dividing Range having been granted its Charter of Membership on 10 August 1919.
I was pleased to be the guest of honour for the celebration. During the event, President Roy Holmes gave a brief overview of the sub-branch history to members and auxiliary members who attended the celebration.

  • Yesterday I dropped into Wellington to visit the many great community organisations that exist in town. We met with WINS and caught up with Helen Swan, the Multi-Function Centre to chat with Christine and Clare and Binjang to say g’day to Tony. WINS received $25,000 to help with new solar panels and public computers, while the Multi-Function received a $4500 Volunteer Grant to help drivers with fuel vouchers.
