When I found out our tour was going to Jaipur, I was so excited to see this building. I didn’t even know what it was called, but I’d seen so many lovely photos of it that I couldn’t wait to find out more. But we were in Jaipur for two nights and never got to see it. As we were driving out of the city, we happened to travel past it so I quickly grabbed my phone and snapped this out of the minibus window. I was so jealous of the people taking cute photos outside! It’s only now that I’ve finally found out what the building is- the Hawa Mahal. I so wish I’d had the opportunity to explore it properly, but at least I got to see it, I guess.
This caption is irrelevant to the picture but oh well. Today is Random Act of Kindness day (apparently- who decided that?) and everyone on social media is talking about being kind. That twee “Be kind; everyone is facing a secret battle” stuff makes me cringe a bit, to be honest. But, from a purely selfish standpoint, it is so worthwhile to be kind. I know I’ve been so much happier with my life in general since I let go of bitterness and resentment. My Facebook history is peppered with snide indirect digs from my teenage years when I was thoroughly miserable. It didn’t make me feel better; it just caused me to wallow in my bitterness. You’re not going to like everyone, and that’s ok. Since accepting that and focusing instead on the people I love, my life has been infinitely better. I’m truly out here living my best life and I’ve found a happiness that miserable, emo, 18-year-old me could never have imagined. So try it- share some kindness today, even if it’s only for selfish reasons In the interests of being kind, here’s just a few compliments to people I love: @bendy_benz, you’re beautiful, talented and put up with me in a way nobody else would. Thank you! @issybellefox, you’re the strongest dickhead I know and I love that you always bring out the worst in me. @amifordphoto, your talent blows me away and I’m so happy to see how you’ve grown into the woman you are today. @neesharees, your wit cracks me up (and this year is definitely the year to get a place on the plane!). And everybody else who makes me laugh, cheers me up & inspires me- you’re all amazing 💕
This dress was a last-minute panic buy and it ended up being my favourite outfit of the whole trip. I’d ordered a cute yellow polka dot dress but the arms were so long it looked like I was a kid wearing my mum’s clothes. I ran into M&S and found this, which is actually a beach kaftan. It had the flimsiest little string straps so I threw my scarf over it to stay ~decent. Somehow it actually came together pretty well. Also, I didn’t know Rich was taking this photo but it came out so well. Two stories of happy accidents!
Figured since it’s Valentine’s Day, I might as well post a photo with Rich (even if it is kind of unclear). Can’t believe this is our 12th Valentine’s Day together. We’re celebrating it how we always do- by doing absolutely nothing! Mind you, I went the extra mile this year and gave him a couple of broken bath bombs so he can’t really complain. Ah, l’amour! (PS: Today’s history lesson- this photo was taken at the Karauli City Palace. It’s beautiful but it’s been left in a state of disrepair. The Karauli royal family are now having it restored. It’s still very much a work in progress but it’s stunning and relies on tourism to raise the funds needed to restore it to its former beauty)
One of the most interesting places we visited in India was Fatehpur Sikri near Agra. It was a 16th century walled city but was abandoned when it’s water supply ran out. All the buildings are still standing, so you can walk around and imagine what it must have been like for all the people who once lived here
Let’s get started on some India posts! 🇮🇳 I hope you’re ready for these because I will literally be posting them for the next month. No shame! This photo was taken on my first day in Delhi. I was wearing my really ugly Skechers so I stood on my skirt to hide them!
Back to uni tomorrow for my next lecturing session. When will it stop being so scary??? PS: I have new photos to post from tomorrow. Woohoo- at last! Photo by @amifordphoto
Looking very natural as I walk past Jane Austen’s house. Just a candid shot. Not posing at all. Nope, not me. (Actually I didn’t even realise this was her house until I saw the photos. Thought it was just a pretty cream building. I’m a disgrace, I know) Only two days until I set off for India! I’m so excited!! Photo by @amifordphoto
I loved this photo when Ami took it but back then my feed was all pastel and summery so it didn’t really fit. So glad I finally get to share it! Spoiler alert: I didn’t even put the roller skates on my feet. I would absolutely fall over and break a wrist or two. Photo @amifordphoto
