FORREAL. Back me up on this if you felt this during your shoots 😂
“Beauty, to new, is about being comfortable in your own skin.” - Gwyneth Paltrow The perfect quote to match the setting of this shoot with @shar.azzard I’m going to be posting Shar’s reaction to seeing her photos for the first time later tonight 🤗
Shar told me she wanted to do a birthday shoot for her 30th birthday and so we did. And we knocked it out the park. We took inspo from @missginadarling and just put a whole different twist to it. So excited for your 40th birthday shoot @shar.azzard
LETS GOOOOOOO!!! Love this by @bossladiesmindset
All these family shoots with little ones lately be looking like this 😂 fake smiles, grumpy frumpys, opening eyes when I asked everyone to close their eyes 🤦🏻♂️
Two things I learned yesterday from a 9-hour family shoot. 1. Surround yourself with people you can count on. 10-hours before shoot time, I found out i didn’t have a makeup artist booked. There was miscommunication on my end on making sure Veronica, my makeup artist, was booked with me for my client. Client was scheduled to come in at 8:30AM and Veronica had another booking at 9AM. We were both looking to find another makeup artist to book and I was on the verge of a minor freak out until Veronica said David if we can’t find anyone, I’ll be there and make sure your client gets her makeup experience. Veronica is a makeup artist and a mama of four. I have never worked with someone this committed and hard working. My inner peace that followed just let me know what a privileged spot I’m in to be feel confident in a situation like that. Thank you @veronica.marshall.dvbeauty for making sure all my clients get the same incredible makeover experience. 2. Service & experience > you As we were wrapping up the 9-hours yesterday, my client told me what stood out to her the most during her experience David, I’ve done a fair share of my shoots with other photographers but the one thing that impressed me beyond the beautiful photos you captured today was the amount of attention you gave to me and my family. Not a single time did it look like you were expressing concern for time. You were focused the whole 9-hours on making sure we were having an incredible time. This isn’t the first time I’ve gone way past my shoot time of two hours with my clients and it’s not because I’m just being nice. I put my service, experience, and product in front of everything. If my clients are investing money with me for final portrait products to live in their homes for generations, I’m not going to ask to stop a shoot at 2-hours just cuz. If they’re feeling confident and beautiful for the first time in a long time, I’m not going to say times up. It takes time to create these portraits and thats why my clients can only purchase their portraits after the shoot when they get to see their images. Do the work you love, trust your process, educate your process and values.
My beautiful sister that I couldn’t photograph when I was just a kid in highschool thinking an “expensive” camera was the secret to making people look good. Oh boy was I so wrong. @mjsuh90
