WE URGENTLY ASK FOR THE PEOPLE OF GALWAY TO FOLLOW THE GOVERNMENT GUIDANCE AND TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY Over the weekend I have felt my optimism towards our community’s collective response to Covid-19 drop dramatically. That optimism has been replaced with disbelief & anger in regards the scenes in Salthill over the weekend & other parts of Galway too. The fundamental question us businesses have been asked by the government and viral disease experts is; if you cannot guarantee that you are doing your utmost to combat the spread of this virus, then you should not operate. Closing the doors of our restaurants and all the restaurants and cafes in Galway has been heartbreaking but the future of this country and the welfare of its people are so much more important than business right now. Business doesn’t even come into it. I am sick and tired of getting calls from other business owners, members of the public and friends saying that people are not following the social distancing guidelines and some establishments are still operating in a very unsafe way, NO GLOVES/MASKS not to mention not a protective screen between them and the huge crowds of the public. Are your actions helping to control the virus or spread it? pretty simple answer if you ask me. It’s gone so far past the point of being ok. This cannot go on any longer. People of Galway, please take this seriously and avoid all non essential business/ socialising/ purchasing. To the businesses who can’t answer the simple question above - DO THE RIGHT THING and join the rest of your city in doing so and fighting this virus together. Take action today.
I have just listened to one of the heads of viral disease in the country, stating the next 48 hours are crucial - “If we get this wrong it's potentially the biggest disaster to hit this country since it was founded and if we got it right, it’ll be the biggest societal success. It’s all in our hands.” That’s the peoples hands he’s talking about. Us. You. With the weather promised decent again tomorrow I just want to deeply express the importance of responsibility that everyone bears in where and how they enjoy the outdoors tomorrow and going forward. We have made a great start but need to adjust our priorities again. This is not a holiday, this is isolation without lockdown (yet). There is an air of comfort and complaceny around which needs to be nipped in the bud. Now is not the time to drop the standards it’s time to build on them. When enjoying the outdoors, avoid the prom and busy areas/parks. Hit the countryside and remember to bring a packed lunch, a flask of tea/coffee. Doing so will limit unnecessary gatherings at hot spots. Our health service are worked off their feet and are they are innovating every single minute of the day to combat this. To support them, households need to innovate themselves, by cooking their own meals at home. Minimising social interactions no matter how much distancing is in place. If everybody does their bit we will get through this, with minimal damage. Italy had almost 800 deaths in ONE DAY. Let that sink in. There are healthy 30/40 year olds in this country on ventilation fighting for their lives right now. As I’ve said we have made a great start, most of us pulling in the same direction like the great city and country we are. But more is needed, the fight is only beginning let’s keep pushing 💪❤️ #powerofthepeople
** TIME TO GO HOME ** Hi Guys, as we said we would monitor the situation daily, hourly even. A day in the new world is the same as a week 'back in the day'. So we must adapt quickly. As most of ye know we switched to collection over the past few days and created the correct enviornment for staff and customers alike. Despite the new model working and it going quite smooth, we just cant help feeling passionately that WE NEED to be at home. EVERYBODY needs to be at home. Isolation is not a nice word but it is now necessary. Doing it now will give us comfort in the hope that in a few weeks time we will watch the curve drop. By god will we be happy we acted early and thoroughly then. There is no need to panic. The whole point of acting strongly now is that we avoid real panic in the coming weeks. Lets act now and do our bit and push everyone to do the same. Look forward to seeing you all when we get through this and WE WILL get through it. Peace, Love and Pizza Ronan, Eugene & Eileen xx #stayhome #takeresponsibility
