Anyone else agree that posting to Instagram can be down right draining? 🙋🏼♀️ • The last time I posted was the beginning of this month and honestly, I’m so glad I took some time for myself and didn’t worry about having to post something everyday. Within the last couple weeks I celebrated my birthday, focused on some projects, my amazing clients, and I got to go out and creatively shoot with one of my best friends. Guys, if you’re in need of a break - just take one. Hate to break it to ya but I don’t think Instagram will notice thaaaat much if you’re gone. • Rach, thank you for always going along with all of my ideas even if it means getting up at 330 in the morning and then going back out in the evening for golden hour portraits. ✨ • Florals: @jayde_annau Dress: @reclamationdesigncompany
Things I’m currently thinking right now (not that any of you are curious but I’m going to share anyway). 1️⃣. Are people actually drawn to a cohesive Instagram feed? 2️⃣. I heard vertical images do better on this platform because you’ll be able to see more of the image. Do you agree or disagree? 3️⃣. I have too much time on my hands today even though I’ve got a to do list a mile freaking long. 4️⃣. Is today actually Monday? Because I’m pretty sure it is. I. Am. Struggling 😅 Send help.
Who the heck am I? - I’m an avid traveler, wife to my very best friend, and someone who is obsessed with dogs especially the two that roam around our house. I am an elopement and wedding photographer for those that seek adventure and don’t mind going the extra distance for epic photos. Even if that means you’re having type two fun (it’s miserable while it’s happening but fun in retrospect especially when it’s over - the type of fun you were thankful to have even if it meant hiking 5 miles). I am someone that loves being outdoors, reading books, walking the dogs, and 9 times out of 10 I prefer iced coffee over hot. I have also found its so hard writing captions about myself so I think that’s enough for today. 🖤✨
Photographers 📷 - I’d love to hear your opinion on something! Over the last couple of years within the photography industry a lot of photographers do fun prompts or let their couples just “be themselves” during sessions when it comes to posing. While I LOVE all of that, I also think it’s so important to get a few shots of the couple looking directly at the camera. So, my question is - What do you guys do? Do you prompt the “look at the camera” poses a lot during your sessions or do you ask them just once at the absolute very end? As for me, I do a healthy mix of both! While I want my couples to interact and be themselves I feel it’s important to ask them to pop their eyes to me every once in awhile especially if we’re flowing through different poses or different locations.✨ I just love topics that spark conversation and I have a feeling this could be a good one! Let me know in the comments below what you do. 👇🏻 There’s absolutely no right or wrong way, it’s all amazing as long as your couples are having the best experience possible! 🖤
I’m just really looking forward to spending some summer days on the lake. ✨ This will be the first summer in years that @nicksavoia will be able to enjoy his favorite place for more than a few days at a time and I’m so excited for him and well, for us! Whether we’re on a boat, in a canoe, or kayaking - I cannot freaking wait to be outdoors and enjoying the sunshine together. 🖤🌲
While I absolutely love winter, I’m really looking forward to the spring sessions I have planned! Here’s to hoping the golden hour is as dreamy for those sessions as it was for Lorissa & Derrick’s last spring! 🤞🏻✨
If you asked one of your closest friends to describe you in ten random words, what ones would they use? ✨ I asked one of mine and here’s the ten random words that came to her mind about me 👉🏻 Chill, hilarious, thoughtful, fiery, strong willed, persistent, cuddly (always with my dog), loyal, blunt (can’t fight this one 😏), breathtaking. ✨ I’m not so sure about that last one but I’m thankful for each of those ten words. I think they’re pretty spot on! So, it’s your turn - Tag a friend below and give them a random word that you think describes them pretty well. I’ll go first! @samanthazenewicz - you are uplifting, courageous, goofy, and so determined at everything you do. Thanks for being one of my gal pals! 🖤
Jomo - Joy of missing out. ✨ Disconnecting as a form of self care. 🖤 - Hi friends, I have a quick question for you all. Have any of you ever taken an Instagram hiatus? I’m talking like uninstalling the app, taking a month off, and feeling joy in missing out on whatever might be happening on this little app. If you’ve ever done this, I’d love to hear all about it!👇🏻
Brandi and Duane originally were planning on having a small intimate wedding in Erie, PA until one day Brandi contacted me to say they wanted to elope in Italy instead and wanted me to come with them! I mean, I could hardly contain my excitement when she asked me. The thing about elopements is you can still bring your closest friends and family with you and make it one of the most memorable days of your life and that is exactly what they did. I spent the day documenting the two of the wandering around Rome and then we ended the night with pizza at one of the best restaurants I've ever been too. We all might have had the sorest feet (and even gotten a little lost when heading back to our airbnbs) but my heart has never been more full. These two even set aside a day so we could all head to the Amalfi Coast to capture more portraits. I think day after sessions are something that should be more common amongst elopements and even big weddings. They allow you to get back into your wedding attire and snag some more awesome portraits without a time frame or anyone hurrying you off to cut the cake. All in all, I'm so thankful to be on this Earth serving people through photography. My 2019 & 2020 clients, I can't wait to see what type of magic we create and capture. Thank you for letting me be the girl behind the camera that tags along with you to your super important life moments. ✨
One of the best investments I have made in my business would hands down have to be attending The Adventurers Workshop. While I'm still trying to find all the right words to truly explain my experience, I'll just leave these couple images riiiiight here. Feeling thankful and ready to do the damn thing. Here's to following what I truly feel I was meant to do with my time on this Earth. ✨
If you’re someone who taps quickly through Instagram stories, I wanted to take a moment and post this here too because it’s important to me. - As I wait to board my flight back home, I can’t help but think to myself how incredible these last few days have been. - Strangers turned into friends, I learned from two incredible photographers who I admire and look up to, and I explored a place that was so breathtaking. To say I’m emotional would be one hell of an understatement. My creative soul is overflowing with inspiration and drive. I can’t wait to see where all of this takes me. - Thank you, @thehearnes & @adventureinstead. I cannot begin to truly explain how eternally grateful I am that you both shared your knowledge and passion with us all. - Until next time. 🖤
Beyond thankful that I get to walk through life next to you. 🌲❤️
I just wanted to share one of my favorite paragraphs from my website because I feel like it’s not said enough. 👇🏻 ✨ When choosing your photographer, I want to encourage you to choose someone who you know will have your best interest in mind. Who will not only capture those raw and real moments, but will also create timeless images for you. It's important you feel this person understands you and will have your back because at the end of the day, these are your memories, your emotions, and your legacy that will be documented. No matter who you end up booking, I want you to go with a person who values the same things you do, whose images can move you to feel, and someone who will wholeheartedly serve you in the best way possible. ✨ While I know I am not the photographer for everyone and anyone, I sure am thankful for those that do choose me. I appreciate you all more than you know for allowing me to capture your most important moments in life. ❤️✨
Long drives to the mountains with my husband > long walks on the beach. 🌲✨ . Swipe to see the cuties I photographed along the way.
Brides - How did you choose your wedding day florals? ✨ Were you on Pinterest looking for your inspiration or did you meet with a florist and leave it entirely up to them? These fluffy bouquets that @jennamono and her girls held were so freaking beautiful!
Hey friends, I’m Jessica! I’m a wedding and lifestyle photographer who loves to travel, go camping, and basically do anything that involves the outdoors. 🌲You’ll likely see me in yoga pants, a huge hoodie, with a bun on the top of my head and I’ll probably be talking about dogs or petting one. A few of my favorite things are - country music, snowy days, golden hour, and fuzzy blankets. Oh, and a good cup of coffee! If there’s anything else you’d like to know about me, feel free to ask. I’m an open book with y’all. ✨
How to make sure you have the perfect couples session with your photographer 👉🏻 Show up and just be yourselves! It’s that freaking easy. Let go of how silly you could possibly look and just be with one another. Allow your love to be documented in the way it deserves so that when you look back 5 years from now, you’ll be so thankful you have these precious moments to keep with you forever. 🖤 ✨ Bonus points if you follow your photographers what to wear guide just like these two did. 😉
First time being vulnerable in a long time, here goes nothing. ✨ I have been thinking a lot about what my word of the year would be. At first, I really loved balance and I was pretty set on it because well I need a whole hell of a lot of it in my life. Then, I simply let go of thinking about it so much and decided it would come to me. A couple days ago I took a Feel Good Ride with @allymisslove and I'll admit, 3 minutes in she had me in tears. Some people just have this affect on you. Their motivation, the way they put their words into sentences that resonate with you, and the way you can feel them cheering you on even if it's through a virtual cycling class. She chooses songs that ground you and move you through her classes while making you want to conquer the entire world when you're finished. The phrase Yes or Yes is what I hear almost every class I take of hers. The option of no isn't there. So my word of the year is Yes. I'm saying yes to myself. Yes to all things good. Yes to success, yes to a healthy lifestyle, yes to one of a kind friendships, yes to things that make me the happiest, and yes to getting rid of every damn thing that doesn't serve me well. I hope whatever word you chose for this year that it makes you feel empowered, that it pushes you through on the darkest days, and that it will bless you with one of your greatest years yet. Here's to 2019, my friends. I am so eager to see where we all are at the end of this year...So...What will you be saying yes to?
I really don’t share enough black and white photos on my Instagram and I’m thinking that needs to change. This image of Kelsey just kills me. I am loving the sun flare, her elegance, her beauty, and the joy she is radiating! ✨
I feel like I haven’t shared enough from Jenna & Kevin’s wedding sooo don’t be surprised if I spam y’all with some of my favs. 😍 Their florist, Melissa, at Allburn Florist gave me extra blooms to play with for styling details and I’m SO thankful she did! ✨
It’s our first Christmas away from home, and while it felt so weird being apart from our families, I couldn’t be more thankful for the friends we consider family here in Montana. To keep this short and sweet; missing my people back in Pennsylvania, but I’m beyond grateful for my people here in Montana who make it feel like home. ❤️🌲 - Merry Christmas, my sweet friends. I hope your day was full of laughter, amazing memories, and that you all feel so very loved. ✨
Here’s to being lazy on a Sunday afternoon and completely ignoring my to do list. Here’s to the best off season ever. 😏✨
I’ll never get tired of sharing this bouquet, it was easily one of my favorites that I’ve ever photographed! 😍 ✨ I cannot wait to see what 2019 has in store for wedding day florals! #jessicahustedphotography
I truly feel like snow covered barns are something out of a storybook. This day, a few weeks ago, at @bramblewood_weddings was so beautiful! I loved being able to walk their property and enjoy the light snowfall & stillness of the earth around me. Winter really is the most magical time of the year. ❄️✨
It’s the most wonderful time of the year. 💍✨ Happy engagement season, my friends! Seeing these perfect proposals and “we’re engaged” posts as I’m scrolling through my feed make me so happy. Congratulations to those that have gotten engaged! 🥰🥳
Still obsessing over this couple and their engagement session.❤️✨
Forever in love with snowy days and pretty pine wreaths. ❄️🎄 - MUA: @emitchhair_mua
