I was going to give @hannahbryerton a chance to post this to her feed first but honestly, I just couldn’t wait. Look at how freaking cute these two are! Han, thanks for giving me an excuse to post to Insta since it’s been a good two weeks. & Sorry not sorry if I ruined a future Insta post of yours. 🙃
It has been so long since I’ve photographed a senior session and guys, I can’t believe I stopped doing them for awhile because I’m OBSESSED! It was so much fun! ✨ Hannah, thank you for walking through weeds, getting in some pretty dirty water, and hanging out with me last night. I hope your senior year is amazing!
Guys, did I freaking step into Narnia for this engagement session or what? When Allison and Cam led me into this perfectly wooded area I was convinced I was somewhere in the PNW not little ol Erie, PA. I couldn’t believe it and to think we get to recreate these images on their wedding day has my heart ready to burst! 🌲✨ Adventure is always out there, my friends. Even if it’s right in your backyard!
“I don’t want to just count the days, I want to make them count.” - This past week I attended Creative at Heart round nine and I can honestly say my personal life and my business needed this conference more than I ever realized. Walking into this conference I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted to get out of it but when Kat had us all write down our one thing we wanted to take away I wrote that I wanted to be inspired again. And I can honestly say that when I hugged my new and old friends goodbye on Thursday that I was inspired again. I also learned SO many things about self care and giving a gentle no to things that do not serve me in the best ways. The number one thing I’m going to give #thegentleno to is working on Sundays (aside from the current few sessions I have scheduled). I am used to getting up and checking my email or shooting a session on a Sunday when I should be picking up a book or bike riding with my mom. Sunday is my only day off during the week and I truly believe I need to use it to recharge and allow myself to get inspired & prepared for the week ahead. After all, you can’t pour from an empty cup and I need to remember that. Here’s to holding myself accountable and accomplishing new goals I have set for the remaining six months of this year! ✨
Months ago I was looking forward to my to do list being a mile long and right now I am looking forward to a little break. First thing Sunday morning I’ll be waking up and heading to North Carolina with one of my closest friends to explore Asheville before we head over to the @creativeatheart. This will be my second time attending this amazing conference and I’m so excited. The last time I attended I made a best friend (@lyndseypaigephoto, I’m looking at you) and I can’t wait to gain new friendships this time around too. This creative community is at times so hard to be apart of especially with the comparison monster always creeping in but I know this conference will allow me to relax, recharge, and refocus on areas that will benefit my business in the best ways possible. I’m really looking forward to the next week and whatever it may hold. If you’re attending, comment below or send me a message! I’d love to meet up!✨
Every single time I see this view, I know I'm about to have the best day, night, or weekend in my favorite place. I've always thought it was interesting how we have such crazy attachments to certain places. I'd have to say that I'm 100% that way with Kinzua & Chapman dam in Warren, PA. The Allegheny mountains are home and even though they're nothing like the ranges I've been in out West, they're beautiful and I'm so thankful for them. Growing up, we would spend a lot of time at my grandparents cottage that sits on the Allegheny River and if my brother and I weren't there then you could find us at the Fox Camp that's only a mile away from the Chapman Dam. I'm thankful our parents raised us to be in the outdoors and even more thankful for our grandparents that believed in taking their grandchildren places to get them out of a cottage - swipe to see the pose I made Josh & Jacqueline do with me lol! We were likely the weirdest kids, it’s fine. As I was reminiscing today I knew I had to share this piece of my heart with you all. 🌲 So tell me, do you have a place that you're attached to and you feel like you're home every single time you go back? ✨
One of my favorite things about being a wedding photographer is it allows me to be a fly on the wall and listen to so many phrases and words throughout the day. I kept hearing over and over again how beautiful and full of happiness Brittni & Luke were. And guys, let me tell you - they were (hell, they are everyday). I stole them away more than once to have their portraits taken and each time, they were so happy to do so. Luke would remind his beautiful bride that he didn't mind taking the time to stand in front of the camera and that always put a huge smile of her face. Their wedding day was truly the greatest day and I'm not just saying that. The rain held off for us, their dance floor was always packed, and the night ended with an amazing fireworks show. I still can't believe this is my job and that I am lucky enough to share someones big day with them. ✨🥳
This morning (like five minutes ago) I was talking to my friend who happens to be another photographer and we were just chatting about posing. Her and I have a very similar style where we go through a posing flow with each of our couples so they can remain comfortable and confident in front of the camera. I also love adding in fun activities or prompts during my sessions, if the location allows, because I feel like it adds to the experience and creates awesome memories. - So my question for those of you who have done a session with me or another photographer - what did you love about the posing you were prompted to do? 👇🏻✨
Excuse me as I spend every evening for the rest of my Summer at the Tobin farm with my favorite people! Guys, these two so graciously allowed me to photograph my mini sessions on their property and now I want to host alllll of my sessions there. I couldn’t be luckier to have the best people in my life who literally come and save the day when I’m in a panic. Brit & Lar, thank you guys so much for all the things! I appreciate you two more than you know. ✨
When I brought up to these two that we may need to do a little bit of hiking to a spot for their engagement session, they were 100% in and I was so freakin’ stoked. I remember at one point I turned around and Cassy was barefoot out on this rock and totally ready to do the damn thing. I couldn’t be more thankful for couples who go with the flow and truly appreciate nature with me. - Whether we hike to your engagement session location or not, you can guarantee we’ll have an amazing time together. Laughing with my clients is my favorite and I got to do so much of that with them last night! 🌲✨ Enjoy a few of my favs from my time with Cassy & Trevor!
Anytime I look back on the images I took while I was in Montana I always end up searching flights too...So so ready to be back in my favorite place and hoping I can plan a trip for this summer or fall. • It also only took me about a month and a half to finaaallly edit the images from this session and I’m so thankful I have patient friends. I can’t wait to share even more! @raychaelmaee - thanks for being understanding and not hating me when my life got slightly out of control the second I arrived in PA. 🖤✨
Not only am I sharing my first wedding of 2019 in these tiny squares but also my first golden hour of the season. Here’s to hoping the rest of this year is filled with allll the golden glow, magical moments, and adorable dogs! I was so spoiled yesterday with Katelyn & Jon’s wedding. - Congratulations you two. Thank you for allowing me to capture your big day! ✨ - Venue: Whispering Trees Manor Videography: @lightandmotionmedia DJ: Cody Gilson with Lake Erie Events Florals: Joel's Flower Shoppe Makeup: @makeup__by__kate Hair: Elizabeth Mitchell with BW Studios .beauty + wellness.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the mamas out there (this includes mamas of fur babies)! Y’all are freaking incredible.✨ - To my mama, thank you for all you’ve ever done for Josh and I! We are so lucky to have a strong, independent, and selfless woman to look up to and learn after. You light up our entire lives and we love you so much. ❤️ - 🖊: @abbeykrysiak - Thank you for always lettering for me!
I’m currently sitting in my kitchen trying to soak up every last second I have with my husband before I head back to PA. It’s always such a bittersweet moment when I realize I have to give him a hug goodbye in order to hug all of my favorite people back home. I truly can’t wait to see everyone and for my wedding & portrait season to begin! ✨ So, if you’ve been wanting to schedule a session with me now is the time to send me an email! P.s @raychaelmaee I wish I could have given you a hug before I head out. Thank you for your endless friendship, I can’t wait to explore together in July! - If you do send me an email or message please know I will get back to you as soon as I can. I’ll be driving the distance back with my mom and pup over the weekend. 🖤 Thank you, friends!
I can’t believe I’ve been your wife for a year already! Time sure does fly when you’re having fun. Happy Anniversary, hubs. I love you! ❤️🌲✨
Anyone else a sucker for a bridal bouquet with peonies or big fluffy flowers in it? 🙋🏼♀️ Kirstie of @wildtetonfloral brought my vision to life when she created this bouquet and I still can’t get over it. If you want to elope in or near Grand Teton National Park, then you’ve for sure got to hire her for your florals! Everything she creates is magical.✨
Guys, can I just tell you a little something I’m really excited about? Even if you internally answered no, I’m going to tell you anyway. I am LOVING how many people are going the destination route with their weddings! My first ever destination wedding was Katelyn and Casey’s and let me tell ya, it was absolutely amazing! I’ve been reminiscing lately and figured I should share a couple of my favs from the time I was with them! 🌴🌊 - If you’re considering a destination wedding and don’t know where to start please feel free to reach out to me! I am here for any questions you may have - photography related or not. ✨
Just dropping a hint of what’s to come for Jessica Husted Photography. Over the past year since I last launched a new website I have grown leaps and bounds. I’ve discovered what my “end goal” is when it comes to photography and with that I needed a fresh new look and feel. I’m thrilled to say I’m working with @daveyandkrista! They’ve made this entire process the smoothest thing I’ve ever done and words can’t express my gratitude. Stay tuned, my friends. So many amazing things are happening behind the scenes and I can’t wait to show you all! 🌲✨
Views like this are my favorite! When @raychaelmaee and I were driving around for a spot to take photos we stumbled upon these horses. I obviously couldn’t help myself and I’m so thankful I snagged a few photos of them. You can bet you’ll see this one in my print shop once it’s launched. ✨🐴
Anyone else agree that posting to Instagram can be down right draining? 🙋🏼♀️ • The last time I posted was the beginning of this month and honestly, I’m so glad I took some time for myself and didn’t worry about having to post something everyday. Within the last couple weeks I celebrated my birthday, focused on some projects, my amazing clients, and I got to go out and creatively shoot with one of my best friends. Guys, if you’re in need of a break - just take one. Hate to break it to ya but I don’t think Instagram will notice thaaaat much if you’re gone. • Rach, thank you for always going along with all of my ideas even if it means getting up at 330 in the morning and then going back out in the evening for golden hour portraits. ✨ • Florals: @jayde_annau Dress: @reclamationdesigncompany
Things I’m currently thinking right now (not that any of you are curious but I’m going to share anyway). 1️⃣. Are people actually drawn to a cohesive Instagram feed? 2️⃣. I heard vertical images do better on this platform because you’ll be able to see more of the image. Do you agree or disagree? 3️⃣. I have too much time on my hands today even though I’ve got a to do list a mile freaking long. 4️⃣. Is today actually Monday? Because I’m pretty sure it is. I. Am. Struggling 😅 Send help.
Who the heck am I? - I’m an avid traveler, wife to my very best friend, and someone who is obsessed with dogs especially the two that roam around our house. I am an elopement and wedding photographer for those that seek adventure and don’t mind going the extra distance for epic photos. Even if that means you’re having type two fun (it’s miserable while it’s happening but fun in retrospect especially when it’s over - the type of fun you were thankful to have even if it meant hiking 5 miles). I am someone that loves being outdoors, reading books, walking the dogs, and 9 times out of 10 I prefer iced coffee over hot. I have also found its so hard writing captions about myself so I think that’s enough for today. 🖤✨
Photographers 📷 - I’d love to hear your opinion on something! Over the last couple of years within the photography industry a lot of photographers do fun prompts or let their couples just “be themselves” during sessions when it comes to posing. While I LOVE all of that, I also think it’s so important to get a few shots of the couple looking directly at the camera. So, my question is - What do you guys do? Do you prompt the “look at the camera” poses a lot during your sessions or do you ask them just once at the absolute very end? As for me, I do a healthy mix of both! While I want my couples to interact and be themselves I feel it’s important to ask them to pop their eyes to me every once in awhile especially if we’re flowing through different poses or different locations.✨ I just love topics that spark conversation and I have a feeling this could be a good one! Let me know in the comments below what you do. 👇🏻 There’s absolutely no right or wrong way, it’s all amazing as long as your couples are having the best experience possible! 🖤
I’m just really looking forward to spending some summer days on the lake. ✨ This will be the first summer in years that @nicksavoia will be able to enjoy his favorite place for more than a few days at a time and I’m so excited for him and well, for us! Whether we’re on a boat, in a canoe, or kayaking - I cannot freaking wait to be outdoors and enjoying the sunshine together. 🖤🌲
While I absolutely love winter, I’m really looking forward to the spring sessions I have planned! Here’s to hoping the golden hour is as dreamy for those sessions as it was for Lorissa & Derrick’s last spring! 🤞🏻✨
If you asked one of your closest friends to describe you in ten random words, what ones would they use? ✨ I asked one of mine and here’s the ten random words that came to her mind about me 👉🏻 Chill, hilarious, thoughtful, fiery, strong willed, persistent, cuddly (always with my dog), loyal, blunt (can’t fight this one 😏), breathtaking. ✨ I’m not so sure about that last one but I’m thankful for each of those ten words. I think they’re pretty spot on! So, it’s your turn - Tag a friend below and give them a random word that you think describes them pretty well. I’ll go first! @samanthazenewicz - you are uplifting, courageous, goofy, and so determined at everything you do. Thanks for being one of my gal pals! 🖤
Jomo - Joy of missing out. ✨ Disconnecting as a form of self care. 🖤 - Hi friends, I have a quick question for you all. Have any of you ever taken an Instagram hiatus? I’m talking like uninstalling the app, taking a month off, and feeling joy in missing out on whatever might be happening on this little app. If you’ve ever done this, I’d love to hear all about it!👇🏻
