• Happy solstice 💙

While today is the shortest day of the year it gives me a sense of relief knowing that we'll start seeing more hours of sunlight each day from here.

It's been a tough year. My mental state is not where it normally is around the holidays. If that's you too, know you're not alone.

I like to think we're at a winter solstice of life right now too. It's been feeling pretty dark. But now little by little, we'll start to see more light each day. At least that's what gets me through.

Whatever your holidays look like this year, I hope this week is a good one for you. I plan to finish wrapping presents, decorate Christmas cookies, watch Christmas Vacation, listen to evermore on repeat, and make mulled wine. What are you doing to celebrate? I really want to know. 👇🏻

  • The snow today is giving me happy holiday vibes, much like this wedding nearly a year ago. Still amazed at the way these two romped through feet of snow in their regular shoes like it was nothing. Meanwhile I'm over here bundled in my snow boots and jacket like, "You sure you're doing okay??" Whatever it takes for the most epic photos, right?

  • Golden hour goodness ✨✨✨

Jessa & Bobby rented an Airbnb in the mountains and invited their family to witness their intimate ceremony outside surrounded by the aspen trees. They shared their first dance out in the field at golden hour, and live steamed it all to the loved ones who could not be there.

This is the new wedding tradition of 2020. I know we all miss the big parties and hugs all around, but I do hope that this little practice of doing just what works for you carries on even when "traditions" become normal again.

  • Some of my favorite moments on any wedding day are right when the newlyweds are presented to everyone as Mr. and Mrs. The stoke is real ✨

This was my last wedding of 2020! This has been the year for intimate backyard weddings and downsized plans and while I certainly do miss "normal" it's been a joy to watch so many couples embrace what they have and just get married in spite of all the obstacles.

So congrats to Jessa and Bobby! And I hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving tomorrow. It might not look "normal" but we all might as well embrace it for whatever we can 💛

  • Shout out to all the couples who have been trying to plan a wedding in New Mexico this year. It 👏🏻 has 👏🏻 not 👏🏻 been 👏🏻 easy.

I miss taco bars and flowing margaritas and watching people stumble through La Marcha. This is such a special place to get married and it's hard not knowing when gatherings will be allowed again, especially as we find ourselves in another shutdown.

As we look ahead to 2021, I'm cooking up some ideas to make the most of what we can and still see couples get to marry and honor NM traditions.

Things like:
👉🏻 Elope somewhere epic in our Land of Enchantment
👉🏻 Have an intimate backyard wedding
👉🏻 Incorporate little details like turquoise jewelry or chile ristras
👉🏻 Use native plants for your bouquet
👉🏻 Make plans for your dream reception, bearing in mind that those plans may need to change (but booking your vendors as early as you can will make it so much easier - due to so many 2020 reschedules next year will be harder to book ideal dates than normal!)

These are all things I've seen done so well this year! Let's make next year really count 👌🏻

Got any questions or ideas for me? Ask them below! 👇🏻 I'll be sure to include them in the blog post I'm creating!
