Heads up. Long personal post... 😬😬😬 2.5 years ago, Field and I made one of the hardest decisions we have ever made for our family, moving from Gilbert, Arizona to Corsicana, Texas. I left the only home I had ever known, where I was born, raised and where we raised our children, my dear parents(who will never forgive me for taking their grand babies away) a successful 7 year photography career we had built from nothing, our friends and family and so much more. We left our perfect suburban home in what was said to be one of the safest places to live in America. And we were headed somewhere much different. We were charmed by Corsicana’s historic downtown, southern hospitality, welcoming residence and progressive arts community. But it wasn’t really these things that drew us in. Corsicana is rough around the edges. There is poverty, drugs and vacant storefronts. There is ignorance, racism and hate. The first time my parents visited, my mom said the town looked abandoned. All these things should have deterred us, but there was SO much potential for change. We needed this imperfect town and it needed us. We were drawn here for a much bigger purpose, we just didn’t know what. Six months after moving to Corsicana, I became the city’s Main Street Director, having the privilege to work with city leaders on matters that make a difference, with small business owners in our downtown that need encouragement and support and continue to build a community that is PROUD to call Corsicana their hometown. It has been the most challenging 2 years of my life. I’ve been publicly and privately criticized, stretched myself thinner than I thought possible and yet accomplished more than I hoped for. All of our hard work and perseverance has paid off and we are excited to announce that Corsicana is one of the Top 10 towns in the country on a journey to win $500,000 from @smallbusinessrevolution to revitalize our town. 🤩 Will you join the journey as we continue to unify our town, one day at a time @corsicanamainstreet ☀️ #mycorsicana #voteforcorsicana @smallbusinessrevolution Photo by @maddierayphoto
I mean...do I really need to say anything?🔥 #texasengagement
Anytime someone wants take me to their family’s cattle ranch for photos at sunset, I’m down. 😍
Sneak peek of our very first Texas engagement session. It’s been more than a year since we photographed a couple. I have been consumed with my Main Street career, but we just could not pass up the opportunity to be a part of this couples story. I’m not going to lie, it felt really good to get behind the camera again. 🙂 #mycorsicana
Good Morning Monday. #filmlives #kodak
The snowfall in Texas today made me remember how I used to love when snow would dust the AZ mountains. #arizonadesert #filmlives #dreamy
I hope you’re snuggled up with someone you love on this chilly night. #babyitscoldoutside
We have not shot a wedding in over a year, but when our sweet friends said they were eloping, we jumped at the chance to photograph their love story in Austin, TX. Thank you @happilyharrelson for trusting we could still photograph a wedding, and for wearing the most killer two piece wedding gown a girl could ask for.
