This guy asks tough questions, as is typical with kids his age. . ‘Mama why are you brown and we are lighter?’ He asked the other day. . Tough questions are an essential part of growth. We may not necessarily always get the answers we are looking for, or know how to answer them. But they are great for accessing wisdom in others and in ourselves. . Most of us learn along the way to stop asking tough questions. Questions about our faith, marriages, careers. And I suspect it’s because we know that tough questions often lead to answers that require making tough changes. . If you are reading this, I’m praying that you never stop asking yourself tough questions, and that you are granted the courage to do tough things in this life. . How did I answer my boy? . God formed me this way because he knew it’s exactly how I needed to look like in order to fulfill all I needed to fulfill in this life 😁 This is the summary.
Today my sister recorded my Mom and sent me the recording, and I’ve been replaying it all day. I miss her a lot, and hearing her words gave me strength. . If I was asked what my ‘why’ was, I would say seeing my Mom well taken of is definitely a part of it. Thinking about her motivates me to show up and put in the work, and to serve well. . What’s your ‘why’? . If you are unsure about it, and suspect it’s what’s keeping you stuck get in touch and let’s work on getting you moving again. See the link in bio to apply on the website ✌🏽
Sometimes you just gotta declare 🎶 . I am who He says I am He is who He says He is I'm defined by all His promises Shaped by every word He says Oh I am who He says I am He is who He says He is I'm defined by all His promises Shaped by every word He says.” Kristene DeMarco . 📷 = @brilliantkodie Headwrap + neckpiece = @bwtribe
What’s the most profound thing you’ve heard/read this week? Here’s mine 👇🏽 . “If we listen to God, people will listen to us because we have something to say.” @markbetterson in a @catalystleader podcast. . Share yours, you never know who might be reading 😘
Every week I get to experiment with my hair and speak into the lives of 15k+ women about it. . You see, most of us grew up being told that our hair is not good enough, or if it was considered acceptable, we were held to a crazy standard of perfection. . So I speak life into the matter not because I have good hair or genes, nor that I have nothing else to do. I’ve stood on the shoulders of some YouTube giants like @tiffanynicholsdesign to learn NH 101 from scratch. . I dream of the next generation of strong women that have a deep sense of who they are, and whose they are. Down to knowing how their hair looks like in it’s natural form. . Some people roll their eyes, and have assumptions. That’s all good. But those that know the struggle will get it 😁. . So if you want to be a part of the community, join NHBots on Facebook. And if you are a natural sista heya!👸🏾
I’ve photographed hundreds of people and I’ve come this conclusion. So much beauty exists, but we often fail to see it in ourselves. . We doubt, question, over-analyze and eventually talk ourselves out of the stuff we feel called to do, a place where we add beauty to the world. . ‘When you come home to your purpose, you become a beacon of what’s possible for others. The world needs you to wake up, find your purpose and serve. Because if you don’t, there will be less light in the world, less healing, less joy.” @mastinkipp . Leave 💐 in the comments if you commit to doing whatever it takes to be YOUR own kind of beautiful.
Some days it’s scary to put yourself out there, and I’m sure that anyone that’s ever done anything worthwhile will agree with me. . For example, yesterday when I posed a question about being stuck, I didn’t expect anyone to respond. . But I was wrong. I’ve been laughing and tearing up reading some raw, vulnerable responses that filled my inbox and even on the comments here. . Thank you for sharing your deep fears and struggles with me. I know this is ‘just’ social media, but any place becomes whatever we make it. . Thank you 🙏🏽
I once heard somewhere that where there’s healthy, there’s growth. . Tell me, have you ever felt stuck in an area of your life, or in your career? Where you felt or knew that you were not growing? . How did you get unstuck, or if you are currently in the process, how are you dealing with it? . Not sure if anyone will respond since it’s such a deep question, but I’m a woman of faith 😁If you respond, you are a ⭐️! . Also feel free to DM me or email me directly if you’d rather not write on here. Thank you in advance!
