  • THIS THURSDAYS SUMMER SERIES FINALE IS NOW POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE...sorry people but we have had to make the hard decision tonight to postpone our final race of the series scheduled for this Thursday 19th March, due to further developments today with COVID-19. We want our all our riders to be safe and unfortunately it only takes one person to present at the event with the virus and our participants are all at risk. We have a huge range of participants from the very, very young to our wonderful Tail End Charlies for the Rockets and Sprockets - the 'Old Farts', who always support our events - so at times like this we need to show our support back and protect them when we can. So together with our sponsors Pack & Pedal Taupo and the support of Jonny at FourB - Bed Breakfast Biking and Beyond and Timber Trail Lodge - Adventure & Comfort in Pureora Forest Park, Mountain Bike Skills Taupo and Mr Whippy Taupo and your TMTBC Committee, we have decided to postpone the event for now and revisit it in 4-6 weeks time when things may have settled down, with a view to holding the final race and prize-giving on a Sunday in the not too distant future if possible....so HOLD ONTO YOUR RACE PLATES...WE AREN'T GIVING UP JUST YET!🙂 However if it turns out that we are unable to celebrate the finale of the Series, we will do a 'live' video presentation of all the prizes - so do not despair as we have every intention of giving away all our sponsors awesome prizes. Again we thank Hendon @ Pack & Pedal Taupo for supporting the Club in this decision👍

Given recent developments around COVID-19 and after discussion within the Committee and with our key Sponsor Pack & Pedal Taupo we have decided to go ahead with the final race in the Series on Thursday night, on the premise that participants will consider their health and the health of others a priority and if they are showing ANY SIGNS OF BEING UNWELL AT ALL that they will not come to the race. 🚴‍♂️The Committee have also decided to cancel the BBQ due to the hygiene implications around this part of the event. 🚴‍♀️Please note that if you are unable to come on Thursday due to illness you will still be eligible for the major prizes where you had to participate in 5 of the races - YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE PRESENT AT THE EVENT ON THURSDAY TO WIN THESE - we would rather you please stay home if you are not well and we will contact you if you are the lucky recipient. All minor spot prizes will be given away on the night to those present. Our aim is to keep our biking community a happy healthy one👍
