“what do I even do, nothing is normal!” . I totally get you! I've been feeling that for the last 3 weeks! This is a rough season for everyone, especially us business owners! And now we have a choice to make. Well, I think there’s probably three options: . 1. Avoiding Instagram posts altogether! You’re just barely surviving . 2. Resharing all the Corona-virus memes & other’s inspirational posts . 3. Showing up, creating and prepping your business for when all this ends . So, which camp are you in? . If I’m honest, I’ve spent a lot of time in that first one. At least last week. Mostly just avoiding posting on instagram and feeling sorry for myself that I don’t get to take photos with the spring blooms or work at a coffee shop or see friends outside of FaceTime. . But, then I had a friend call me out. And remind me that this season isn’t for not! We get to CHOOSE how we show up right now. Even if showing up just looks like turning off Netflix and picking up a book or texting a friend you haven’t talked to in forever. . I have a choice to either let the uncertainty and fear of Covid-19 rule my life OR I can choose to identify my fear and change the narrative. . So, will you let uncertainty and fear keep you from posting on social media during quarantine? Or will you take the plunge, create some stuff and document your time at home? I promise, people want to see it!
“Every day may not be good, but there’s something good in every day.” - Unknown . Today’s good thing: seeing all the trees in bloom on my way to brave the grocery store! . Did you have one?
Checked off a big part of my quarantine binge list last night with the last of the Lord of the Rings trilogy! . I actually hadn’t seen any of them before, but with an already existent love for Narnia and Harry Potter, I figured they’d be worth a try! And man! I’m glad I took the 9 hr plunge! . There was one quote that stuck out to me from the first movie and it honestly relates to our current reality. . Frodo: I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened. Gandalf: So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. . We get to decide how we see this. We can’t change the fact that it’s happening, but we can change how we live in it. How we respond to it.
Worked from the car today. . . in the driveway! . Honestly, I never realized how much I took for granted before all this! Like I really didn’t think that working from a coffee shop was such a novelty thing! But now . . . well 🤷🏼♀️ . What’s been the thing you’ve missed most so far? Like normal stuff you never thought twice about?
Quarantine life ≠ looking this cute . Aside from not getting to see people outside my house, quarantine life thankfully hasn’t looked THAT MUCH different than normal, everyday WFH life. . But, I have noticed a few things they’ve been different and I wanted to journal a few of ‘em here in my Insta Journal! Even if there more just for me to remember when this is all over! . 1. Honorary Barista: because coffee shop workdays aren’t a thing, I’ve been whipping up daily iced lattes with our Nespresso machine and the few different syrups I got to try! Not to brag or anything, but I’ve been getting pretty good 💁🏼♀️ . 2. Binging BBC period drama series with my sister, @_hannah.laura_ .She switched to night shifts in the midst of all this wild stuff, so to get her acquainted to her new sleep schedule, we stayed up late and binged Pride & Prejudice (2005 of course!) and a new (to us) period drama on Amazon Prime . 3. Outside workouts and actually soaking up the sun. Usually I just sit behind my desk all day, but having more people around to break me out of my cave and get me outdoors has been fun! . 4. Whole fam being home. Though it throws off normal routines to have everyone working from home, it’s been fun to have random middle of the day conversations and more people around during the day time! It keeps things interesting for sure! . Now your turn! What’s been one of your favorite things about quarantined life?
Everything feels so weird in this wild Coronavirus season of life! But! I was so thankful to get the chance to do something “normal” on Saturday and celebrate these two getting married! . There were so many developments in government regulations last week and there were worries about their wedding going as planned! But Brooke took everything in stride! When you showed up on Saturday, the joy of the day and the excitement that these two had was unrivaled! . I’m so excited to share some of my favorites from their day on the blog today! You’ll the sweetest moments from the bridal suite, a tearful daddy/daughter first look and Chad’s reaction to seeing his bride coming to meet him at the end of the aisle! . I’m hoping this is a welcomed distraction from our current quarantined life! The link is in my profile! Enjoy! . Untouched reception decor. Grabbing a photo before the guests get to grab their seats and the party starts, this is something I always build into a wedding timeline if we can! . PLUS your vendors will love you for it, too!
What I consider “productive” looks a little different these days. . Today? It looked like sitting crisscrossed on my bedroom rug chatting with friends through a computer screen! . I was supposed to have a coffee date at @kalacoffeehouse to discuss all things branding with a new friend, @carolynbowlesco , but thanks to coronavirus, we did it virtually! . Then I had the best time with @ericaandjon brainstorming and figuring out how to best serve y’all while we’re all homebound for the next little bit! . I’m starting to be thankful for this season and it’s reminder to cherish normal things like coffee dates and conversations with friends. I never thought there would be times when those things were scarce! . What’s something “normal” you’re thankful for today?
“The way we deal with uncertainty says a lot about whether Jesus is ahead of us leading, or behind us carrying our stuff.” - @bobgoff
“It's about to get real.” . I think that's the best description of the feelings of a bride walking beside her dad down the aisle. . One of my favorite moments of the whole day is getting to see the bride walking side by side with her dad as he leads her to her groom. I'm usually beaming behind my camera as I pivot from groom to bride to get all the photos! . Whether there's been a first look & this is the realization of becoming husband & wife! Or it's those feelings bundled with the emotions of seeing one another for the first time that day, this moment is a special one and always gets it's spotlight on the blog! . Now tell me, what's your favorite part of a (your) wedding? We've all got one, I know!
