Ice cream dates in the kitchen, cuddling on the couch and frolicking in the yard. Just the ideal way to celebrate one year of these two being married! Loved getting to see these two again and catch up again while documenting a little of what one year of marriage has looked like for them!
Man! What a way to kick off this week! Didn’t get any behind the scenes today, but it involved a whole lot of this! 📷⠀ ⠀ @amberweghorn absolutely rocked her brand session at @somethingolddayton and I’m excited to share some of them with y’all soon!⠀ ⠀ We’ve spent two weeks digging into the heart of her brand plus honing in on her ideal client and getting to know her audience. With all that goodness in our arsenal, we tailored every bit of her session to create a library of images that’ll help her kick off her social media presence, fill her new website and serve her people well!⠀ ⠀ I was definitely in my element all day and we topped it off with a cup of coffee at @lotno1coffee —— is there anything better? 🤷🏼♀️ Not for this gal! ⠀ ⠀ How’s the start of your week? Tell me the best part of your Monday!
Tabitha shares my love for architecture, can ya tell? I pretty much jumped for joy when she mentioned having their session in this part of Downtown!⠀ ⠀ I’ve been eyeing both the Masonic Center and the Dayton Art Institute for a long while and these two let me finally check both off of my dream location list 🙌🏻 ⠀ ⠀ Aside from the dreamboat location, these two absolutely rocked it! In between discussing our favorite classic movies, we managed to take in the beauty of this building plus capture their joy all in one! Goodness! These just make my photog heart sing!⠀ ⠀ I’m so excited to be able to celebrate their wedding this fall in Dayton!
I’ve been keeping these photos to myself for a bit too long!⠀ ⠀ Lauren and Taylor’s session last week at Alms Park was so beautiful! And they were such troopers in that humidity!⠀ ⠀ Not only did they brave the humidity, but they’re so fun to be around! Their fun-loving personalities kept made my job incredibly easy! I mean... just scroll through a few of these!⠀ ⠀ Lauren and I got the chance to meet last year when she was the maid of honor in @klinz.mather wedding! Now it’s her turn!!⠀ ⠀ I couldn’t be more excited for these two and to get the chance to celebrate them in December!
There’s a lot going on in the world, especially in America. But, if you’re reading this right now, I’m sure you already know that. To be honest, it’s been hard to know exactly what to do as someone who has a small “platform”. Do I speak. Do I remain quite. Do I just examine my own life, or do I have use my “platform” and my “privilege”. Do I do all these things? Or am I just wrong? My heart has been torn in so many directions. I recognize the injustice. I acknowledge it. And I’m seeking to learn more. The thing is though, my own heart has to be assessed and my own life has to be searched before I could unbiasedly & clearly look at anyone else. “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye’, when all the time there is a plank in your own eye! You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” - Matt. 7:3-5 I’m learning. I’m unlearning. I’m constantly praying that Jesus will open my eyes and search my heart. And that his spirit will lead me into places where I can be uncomfortable. Because it is when we’re uncomfortable that we truly learn and grow. This is a work in progress, but as this new week begins, I felt I should share an update on things. I’ll continue to learn. To share. To grow. To speak when it’s called for & to remain silent when that is best. As for this “platform”, I will slowly begin “normal” posts and share the photos and education I create. But remember. Behind the scenes. In the hidden moments and off the screen, you’ll find a photographer. Yes. More importantly, you’ll find a woman who is growing and learning as she allows the Holy Spirit to undo her, recreate her and teach her how to live and love and give. I’m thankful for you. For the ability to share with you and be part of your journey. I hope this is a space where we can continue to grow together and have true and honest conversations. Ones that will make us uncomfortable and allow us to grow as humans. To end, read Micah 6:8 & Psa
Hi, I’m Rachael. And this is my natural habitat. ✌🏻⠀ ⠀ Just swipe over to see how I feel about patio seating being open at one of my fave coffee shops! (@kalacoffeehouse )⠀ ⠀ My happy place is usually in a coffee shop with some chill tunes queued up and an iced latte in hand.⠀ ⠀ I’m a sucker for period dramas and have finally caved to the peer pressure and started watching Downton Abbey. I know.. real late to that game, but it’s proving to be better than I expected!⠀ ⠀ And if you’re new around here, lemme stop for a sec and introduce myself!⠀ ⠀ I’m Rachael, a wedding & brand photographer who helps fun-loving brides and brands create purposeful-filled photos that tell their story!⠀ ⠀ I’m glad you’ve stumbled into this corner of Instagram! Even if you don’t share a love for iced coffee or period dramas, you’re welcome here and I’m excited to have ya!
Trying to channel this type of joy as we walk into a rain-filled weekend over here!⠀ ⠀ Two things at the top of my list for rainy days? A good book and a window where I can watch the rain drops fall and maybe catch a whiff of that glorious stormy smell.⠀ ⠀ Do you have fun weekend plans? Or are you opting for a more chill, stay-in kind of vibe?
Trying to mimic those coffee shop vibes with my favorite chill tunes queued up through my AirPods and an iced latte in hand!⠀ ⠀ In other news... I’ve been working on my own brand during quarantine and I really could use your input real quick.⠀ ⠀ When you think of my business and photos, what are some words that come to mind? Could ya throw 3 or 4 in the comments below?⠀ ⠀ I have an idea of what I want y’all to think, but hearing straight from you means the world! So thanks in advance, friend! You da best! 🙌🏻
How I feel walking back into sessions in the next few weeks!⠀ ⠀ I’m so thankful that we’re beginning to take the first steps back toward “life as usual”... well as usual as can be!⠀ ⠀ I’m pumped for the day I can walk into my fave coffee shop and actually sit and stay awhile! Oh! And for the day when I don’t have to get my tacos and guac to go! 🙌🏻⠀ ⠀ Those are the little things, but the biggest is being able to get back together with my people and not stay 6ft apart! When that day comes, just be ready for a hug!⠀ ⠀ How ‘bout you? What‘s the first thing you’ll do when this is all over?
Front Porch-rait 3.0 🌿 ⠀ Spending the evening with these two at their home in the country was a blast! ...plus, they’re the cutest!⠀ ⠀ I love that I’ve gotten to have two of my 2020 couples in front of my camera this week! It’s the little slice of normal I think we all needed!⠀ ⠀ I firmly believe that these two can make everything fun. Dancing in the kitchen. Sprinting through their pasture. Playing with their pup on the front porch. I loved getting to document a set of engagement pictures that look a lot like their lives together!⠀ ⠀ I can’t wait to celebrate their wedding day this fall! No matter what it looks like! I’m praying it still gets to be the way they’ve planned it, family-filled and at their gorgeous venue! But either way, I know that they’ll take it in stride and it’ll be just as joyful!
