Snuck out in the cold today to document these two and their babe! Mike and Emily are the sweetest and she was glowing through every minute of their session! They climbed on some rocks for me and we somehow made Springboro look like a mountain range! . Mike and Emily, I’m so excited for y’all and to meet your sweet little one! You’re going to be amazing parents!! Thanks for braving the cold with me and being up for pretty much anything! You’re the best! 💙
—— Sneak peek into the life of Rach right here! If I had to put all my faves in one picture, they wouldn’t all fit into a pretty flat lay! . But let’s be real, if I was forced to choose three things from this picture and that’s all I could have on a deserted island, could you guess what they were? . Were you right? 1. Chapstick 2. Sunglasses 3. My Bible . If you chose one or all three of those, you’ve won yourself a pat on the back! Ha ha! Now you’re turn! Comment below and tell me what three things you’d have to have on a deserted island! #lifeofrachaelleigh
Needed to settle the score for all the REAL cute headshots I’ve been posting. Ever wondered what this gal actually looks like behind the camera, well let’s just say, not as cute as you! Ya feel? . This pic was taken during a styled shoot in Arizona this past year. Want to know one of my favorite parts of that trip? Getting to know @immarciamary while she was working the @delightandbe table! This gal is the REAL DEAL and can make ANYONE feel like an old friend, no matter how long you’ve known her. Her passion for the Lord and her job makes me want to be more like her. And all the gals of Delight & Be, well they’re pretty much the same. They inspire you to bravely chase after Jesus and the things he has called you to in this life. They steadfastly encourage and build one another up and I’m so honored to be considered a “Delight girl”! . For all these reasons, I’d be honored to be an attendee at the 2019 Retreat! To be in a house filled with like-minded girls whose hearts are primed and ready for growth, to have deep conversations that fill a soul right up and to get to see my gal Marcia again. And it’s just an added bonus to learn from leaders in the photography industry! . If I had to nominate one girl to head out west with me, it would for sure be @hannahsmithphotography we’ve been Insta friends for the last two years and I’ve low key been praying for the day I’d get to see her in person! To be able to have her with me in Washington, Lord willing, would be like icing on a basically perfect cake!
I’ve never seen something more accurate. Am I right? . Thanks @roolee this was too good not to repost 🙌🏻 #roolee
Do you ever find yourself staring at your closet and thinking, “I have NOTHING to wear!” Yeah, me too! And that feeling when you’re planning to have your pictures taken IS NOT FUN! Actually it’s far from fun, it’s almost exhausting! One of the most asked question I receive from brides is, what do I wear for my engagement pictures? 🤷🏼♀️🙉 If you’re anything like me and not a “fashionista” who knows just what to wear, than you’re in the right place friend! You’ll find my top two tips for choosing camera worthy outfits that will make you look and feel absolutely amazing! 💃🏼💁🏼♀️ 1. Think complimentary and coordinating rather than matching. When we think of putting together outfits, most times we try to find the exact color of blue to match the pattern in a certain shirt. But I want to challenge you to think of colors that compliment and coordinate rather than match exactly. I’ve always been a huge nerd when it comes to color! The color wheel section was my one of my favorite parts of art! So experimenting with complimentary colors and balancing color palettes out makes me so excited! 💙💛 2. Things to avoid. I recommend you avoid white t-shirts because they photograph flat due to lack of contrast. Patterns smaller than a dime. A camera has a hard time capturing the pattern and it can result in your clothes having a weird color cast or a funky design that’s not true to life. Open toed shoes for guys and graphic tees for guys. Neon and really bold colors - these sometimes work if done right, but on a sunny day, the color of your clothing may reflect onto your skin. So a neon green or orange shirt may result in your face being that color in your final images. 🙅🏼♀️ *bonus tip* - Matching “dressiness”. Make sure your outfits match in how formal they appear. If the she is wearing a little black dress, he probably shouldn’t be wearing shorts and a polo. And vice versa. . Find yourself wanting more? Y’ALL! IT’S HERE! INTRODUCING THE NEW RACHAEL LEIGH PHOTOGRAPHY! . The all caps is the best description of my current level of excitement! I’m so excited to finally be able to share this with y’all! . A brand spankin’ new website, blog and brand are all ready for you to see!!! Seriously, I’m bursting at the the seams right now! . This whole thing started back in October when I decided it was time for a change. I sat down at my desk and began writing down what I actually wanted my business to stand for. Beyond the pretty images. More than a logo. At the heart of it all, what should Rachael Leigh really be about? . That question and the answer I finally came to sparked on this whole sha-bang and all that’s coming in the future! . I’m beyond grateful for you! How you’ve supported my dream and are helping to make it come true! I can’t wait to hear what your favorite corner of my online home is! Won’t you share it below? #rachaelleighphotography #showiteer
TOMORROW! Tomorrow is the day! Have I ever told y’all that I’m terrible with secrets? I hate keeping things to myself and right now I’m bursting at the seams! Pouring your heart and soul into something and having to wait to share is the worst thing, can anyone relate? I can’t be the only one! 🤷🏼♀️ I’m letting the cat out of the bag TOMORROW at 12pm! If you’re excited to hear, let me know below! #rachaelleighphotography
Apparently it’s #nationalhatday 🤷🏼♀️ I’m totally okay with it though! I’ve always loved hats, even when I was a little girl! But recently, I haven’t really wanted to go with the trend and rock one because I didn’t think I was a “hat person”. Do you ever feel like that? Like you want to try something new but don’t let yourself because you’re afraid of what people will think or just scared to be different? 🙈 If you’ve ever felt that, I’m right there with you! For most of 2018 I was pretty much a scaredy cat. Running around not doing what I really wanted to because I was afraid to do things different than everyone else. I’m finally coming to the place where I can see the light at the end of this tunnel of fear. So, let me encourage you! There’s another side, I promise! And if you’re ready to find it, know that you’ll get there! I’m discovering that now and I hope you do, too! 🙌🏻 And if you want to rock a cute hat or try a new trend, do it! It’s always okay to try new things! And if you need someone to cheer you on or to tell you how cute you look, just send me a DM! Seriously!
HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT coming this Thursday! I’ve been working on a super secret project for the last few months and it’s finally ready to be unveiled! I can’t wait to share it with y’all!! Any guesses on what it is?
