S I X years ago we said I do. 💕 . Somedays, I can’t really believe it, yet at the same time, I don’t always remember life without you, Thayes. 👏🏼 Thanks for continuing to grow with me, for being my best friend, my person, the one I call before anyone else, the one who celebrates my success the most and pushes me to be better, the one who knows me better than I do, the one who has the most patience with our children at 3am and who always lets me stay in bed. . Our story has always been an adventure, from when we first started dating, to now. The adventure has changed, the times have changed but one thing that will never change... . Thomas Hayes, I will always choose you! 😘 Happy sixth anniversary!

I was given less than a 10% chance of survival that hot summer day, and my parents named me Shelby Elyse on July 19 simply so I wouldn’t die without a name. The doctors told my parents that I probably had Down syndrome. They told them that I was going to be blind, deaf, and have no quality of life. If I did make it, they said I would be on oxygen indefinitely and a feeding tube forever. They predicted I would be on the ventilator until Christmas, and in the hospital long after. They said all this, but they were very wrong. What the doctors presented was the worst-case scenario, and that I was the sickest baby in the NICU at Akron Children’s Hospital. BUT JESUS! . .
