In Yoga’s sister science Ayurveda, autumn is associated with the Vata Dosha – the elements of ether and air, associated with movement, transition and expansion. As essential as these elements are, they can become unbalanced at this time of year when there is a surplus of Vata elements in the atmosphere. Here are 5 Ayurvedic tips to ease you through the Autumn season. 1. Diet - Our diets should contain foods that are both nourishing and easy to digest. Eat according to the season with an increase of grounding root vegetables, and warming spices. It’s the perfect time of year to introduce soups, stews, dahls and dishes like Kitchari to our diet. 2. Avoid dry, cool raw foods and cold drinks as they can disturb Vata. Opt for herbal teas instead. 3. Regularity - routine is important to keep Vata balanced, so try to establish a daily routine where you go to bed and awake at the same time every day – even on weekends! This also includes regularity and routine for mealtimes and exercise. 4. Take extra care of your skin during this season. Like the season Vata is dry. Introducing a grounding self-massage (Abhyanga) is a beautiful gift to give yourself. Enjoy the stillness of a daily meditation. #IYTA #iyta_yoga #ayurveda #autumn #changingseason #vata #vatadosha #abhyanga #selfcare #eatfortheseason #yogaonandoffthemat #yogaoffthemat #yogatraining #yogaaustralia #yogavictoria #yogacommunity #yogadiploma #yogaautumn #yttc #yogasydney #yogansw #yogaindailylife #scienceoflife

Mother’s Day is just a few weeks away. To celebrate all mums everywhere we have a special workshop for Mother’s Day weekend. The fabulous Patricia Wigley will take you on a journey to explore the inherent potential of the chakra system and how it relates to us each individually. The workshop will also visit the archetype of the mother in all her facets as seen by modern psychology (Jung) and in traditional literature and myth (e.g. fairy godmother and wicked stepmother) and how they relate to the chakras. Motherhood and the Journey through the Chakras is live on ZOOM on Saturday 8th May. Click on the link below (or in our bio) full details and to reserve your place... https://iyta.com.au/course/motherhood-and-the-journey-through-the-chakras-with-patricia-wigley/ #iyta #iyta_yoga #chakra #mothersday #yogaworkshop #femalearchetype #mums #onlineworkshop #jung #earthmother #motherhood #energycentres #yogaaustralia #yogatraining #chakrapsychology #yogateachertraining #yogapsychology #psychology #yogaoffthemat #yogasydney #yogansw #yogavictoria #yogaevent
