Happy Labor Day from #TeamYaeger! ⠀ ⠀ We hope you get to take some time off today to reenergize yourself because you deserve it.
Yes, it's almost Q4. Yes, we're talking about Q3 changes AGAIN. These are important changes to the Blueprints that are eligible for testing on the exam. ⠀ ⠀ This week we're moving on to BEC, which had two areas that got some love: IT restructure + data analytics (data visualization).⠀ ⠀ While the scope of the exam isn't changing (read: it’s not “harder” or testing more topics), the study guide flows better.⠀ ⠀ It starts with IT fundamentals (software, hardware, use in business), moves on to risks of IT, and then to controls to address the risks.⠀ ⠀ While technically this is a “new” task, it has always been tested and was previously implied. If you’re a Yaeger CPA Review student, don’t worry. We’ve been teaching it all along!

If you've never heard this saying, ask your parents. I'm sure they've said it more than once.⠀ This is what my intermediate accounting professor said when I asked him how I was going to get through the REAMS of material that we were going to cover in the first month.⠀ This is what my manager told me when I asked her how I was ever going to learn all of the material in FAR.⠀ And also what she said when I failed FAR with a 74 (so close!!!).⠀ Looking back, I get it. The CPA Exams are like a whale - overwhelming when viewed as a single entity. But if you just focus on that next bite, well, one bite is manageable.⠀ At the time, I sort of wanted to smack my manager. But I sent her a birthday card with a whale on it this year 😉

Listen to Nigel! The blueprints will help you pass the exam. If you aren't using Yaeger products and the blueprints aren't fully integrated into all of your materials, print them out use them like a checklist.⠀ ⠀ Ask yourself, can I accomplish this task? Could I explain this topic to someone else if they asked me? If the answer is yes, move on to the next task. If you aren't sure, or answer no, then flag it for more attention.⠀ ⠀ Don't look at the exam as one overwhelming four-hour beast, but as one topic at a time. ⠀ ⠀ You can do this.
Did you get your scores back last week? ⠀ ⠀ How'd you do? ⠀ ⠀ If you are starting off your week feeling down on yourself for a non passing score, take a good look at the quote up there. ⠀ ⠀ You are not at the end of your journey, yet. Think how far you have already come on your way to CPA. We know it's a long road. We know it's hard. We've been there. ⠀ ⠀ If you failed, you don't need to hang up your hat. You are actually in the majority of CPAs who have failed their exams before finally passing. ⠀ ⠀ So, take a look at your study plan. What can you change to get back on track?
