Kole Pickner is NASA-bound. Pickner, a mechanical engineering major at South Dakota Mines, begins his prestigious internship at the NASA Langley Research Center this week in Virginia. Congrats Kole!
Mechanical engineering major Ross Barney is a perfect example of how our students' internships lead to success. Ross has been interning with B9Creations since February, and the company has offered him a full-time position. He graduates on Dec. 14, and will begin working there the day after his final exam. Congrats Ross and thanks to amazing companies like B9 for recognizing the talent our students have to offer. #sdsmt #sdmines #sdminesinternships #mechanicalengineering @rosswbarney @b9creations
Nice work Emily Schimbeno! Emily is a senior industrial engineering and engineering management major from Lake City, MN. She is graduating in May 2020. This past summer she worked for Freeport McMoRan at their Sieritta Mine. Her main project was improving the hazard communication on the site. She came up with a new process to identify and he bulk chemical containers. She worked with a consulting firm to design a customized sign specific to Freeport McMoRan. Her project was selected by corporate management to be presented at their end of the year intern conference. . . . #SDSMT #SDMines #SDMinesinternships #industrialengineering
Chemical engineering major Jacob Dempsey landed a co-op at J.R. Simplot Company Phosphate Fertilizer Plant in Pocatello, Idaho, this past year. One of his biggest projects was optimizing the plant steam system to improve functions while cutting costs and reducing wastes. #sdmines #sdminesinternships #sdsmt #chemicalengineering @jrsimplotco
We might be into December but we're still recognizing students who did summer internships. 😎 Today, it's Katrina Davidson, who interned this past summer with South Dakota Department of Transportation in Aberdeen in the Region Bridge Office. Katrina, who is from Mitchell, SD, graduates next December with a degree in civil engineering. #sdmines #sdminesinternships #sdsmt #civilengineering
Summer seems like a long time ago, but Marissa Hirchert probably won't forget her summer. Marissa, a metallurgical engineering major, spent her summer interning with Nucor Memphis Memphis. She worked as a process engineer on the Electric Arc Furnace. My summer was full of learning opportunities and out-of-work fun! I spent every weekend exploring Memphis and made lasting memories. #sdmines #sdminesinternships #sdsmt #metallurgticalengineering @marissaahirchert
