  • Our associate winemaker, Tracy Kendall, and Mosely reminiscing about the 2017 harvest at our estate vineyard, Bishop Creek.

As Tracy recalls: “These are wines that I believe will age 20 years beautifully and they’re still gorgeous to drink now. You get that power now that’s going to turning to finesse as they age. That, combined with the 17 vintage, which was full of elegance and beauty and finesse makes for a really stunning wine”

Stay tuned to our stories to hear her full take on what made the 2017 vintage at Bishop Creek so special. Interested in experiencing these wines for yourself? Enjoy our 3-pack offering at the link in profile: https://bit.ly/35LaMCZ

  • All this weekend we’re reminiscing about the 2017 vintage. Here are Jay, Jean-Nicolas and Tracy at Nysa Vineyard in the Dundee Hills in September of 2017.

As Tracy recalls “2017 was a cool harvest, a reminder of past years in Oregon, with grapes picked under cloudy skies as autumn unfolded in the vineyard. After a moderately warm summer, September brought cool temperatures and gave the grapes time to deepen flavors and evolve tannins. Our first grapes were picked on the 27th of September and we picked our last on the 5th of October, 2017 was also one of our shortest and most intense harvests to date. The resulting wines are light on their feet, with beautifully integrated tannins and elegance reminiscent of cooler years.”

  • At the end of such a challenging year, we are grateful.

None of us ever imagined we’d be experiencing a once-in-a-century health crisis – that devastated the lives of so many in our industry and beyond. It was a year of reckoning— with our society’s inherent inequalities in the spotlight but the needed changes demanding continued fights for racial equality and justice. And then the fires - in Oregon and California homes and wineries were lost and an entire vintage accosted.

But we have supported each other - and it makes a difference. We are so thankful to you.

2021 brings hope - most importantly for good health, but also for the gathering of friends face to face over a meal and a bottle of wine. Hope for you to join us at our new winery. Hope for a great vintage and more terrific wines in 2021.

We made it

Happy New Year from all of us at Nicolas Jay!

Jay, Jean-Nicolas, Tracy, Kevin, Noah, Angela & Chris

  • As we ready the Blanc de Blanc for tonight’s celebrations, we’re thinking about the beautiful examples of Chardonnay made in our own backyard. @departuresmag sees the magic in Oregon Chardonnay, too, and we’re delighted to have our 2018 Bishop Creek Chardonnay included among five wines to try.
