In this year of celebrating the Academy’s 150th Birthday, we are pleased to honour the Sisters of Charity of Montreal (more commonly known as Grey Nuns). On May 1, 1869, two Grey Nuns, Sisters Ste Thérèse and Mary Jane McDougall, opened Maison Ste Marie (later renamed St. Mary’s Academy). This was the first Catholic school to serve Catholics on the west side of the Red River. The Grey Nuns operated Maison Ste Marie until 1874 when the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary assumed responsibility for the school. . The Alumnae Relations and Special Events Coordinator will partner with the Advancement and Admissions office in executing alumnae and St. Mary’s Academy 150th anniversary events. This position is integral to the continued relationship and communication with all alumnae as well as maintaining and enhancing community relations and promoting a positive image of the Academy both internally and externally. This is a full time position, 37.5 hours per week, requiring flexibility to attend events and activities. Bright and early this morning, students and staff jetted off to Paris for the Canada and the World Wars Europe Trip. In the span of 12 days the group will travel throughout France, Holland, Germany and Poland paying homage to the dedication and sacrifice of the many women and men who gave their lives for our freedom. The trip will focus on visiting various battlefields, historic sites, monuments, war cemeteries and concentration camps. We wish them safe travels and we will keep them in our prayers.

The Flames did it again! For the 2nd consecutive year our high school hockey team won the CTV Division of the Winnipeg Women’s High School Hockey League. In last night’s second game of a possible 3 game series the Flames clinched the Championship with a score of 3-1 over the Selkirk Royals. Huge congratulations to the players and coaches!
