A moment of reflection 🎞 I’ve written this caption three times, tried to articulate feelings and share some wisdom (more for me than anything) but I keep deleting it. I think journalling might be a better place to process. But the jist of it, is that the mind is incredibly wonderful, and powerfully devastating. It takes work, energy and confidence to decide to take control and focus on what matters, be present, try to forget the past, and not worry about the future. Work in progress ✨
Renovation life, let it be known that renovating is stressful, exhausting and somewhat draining of all life resources. BUT, my god I’m excited to have a shiny new home with all my decor and interior style cues, and a spare room for guests and double the amount of space. We chose location over size, but this big evolution means we get a little more balance of the two! #mediamarmaladehome 🎞
As the saying goes, there’s nothing a bit of salt water can’t cure! Sweat, tears or the sea ✨
Weekends spent doing DIY ... we’re on the home straight and the next few weeks are going to be getting seriously hands on. Today’s been ripping up floorboards and fitting insulation ... tomorrow is hopefully going to be laying new boards and getting a mist coat on. I’ve taken charge of the schedule and forcing decisions daily, much to @westtwentytwo despair. It’s fair to say I knew how much home and my ‘safe space’ mattered to me (always one to want to make even a hotel room feel cosy) but with lots going on in work, with the house and in my head, I just can’t wait for my one little sanctuary again! #mediamarmaladehome
Life’s a blur, so make sure you fill it with the good stuff and the stuff that matters! Note to self ✨
I can’t wait to be back in the house, unpacking all our belongings into our new space and most of all finally wearing all my new pieces I’ve been saving up. These beauties were a Christmas gift that left me 🤯 @jayr_dee definitely blew my mind 💯
Will be sharing my California film diary soon from my trip to Orange County, Palm Springs, Joshua Tree and LA 🎞
Oh to be back here brunching with a week of amazingness ahead of me. Feeling mentally clouded and frustrated at the moment ~ ‘winter has arrived’ ~ and I feel a good omelette and some Parisian down time would do good for the soul.
I got some more film back and really pleased. Sorry but we’re going back to LA for a bit, do you mind? It also means I can finally share my LA film diary on the blog. I have to say having just got these back, shot on another of film cameras (the first one I started using, my dads Canon 650D with my 50mm 1.4 lens) I kinda think the output is quite a bit better than my Contax T2 which was PRICEY!! Light definitely plays a part and there’s no doubt the T2 is super convenient. Both had the same film and these seem brighter, sharper and less grainy. Love both. Really need to start using my Fuji medium format - it’s so expensive to shoot on I’ve only done one roll, doh!
Feeling like a weeks retreat is definitely what the doctors ordering. Nothing more than reading, yoga, good food, maybe some massages, movies and early nights. I read Do Pause over Christmas (thanks @chickpeabyhg) and a lot of it resonated with me and the idea of taking a weeks pause is really appealing to me right now. It’s hard to justify the time with a house renovation on the home front and a lot on at work, but perhaps it’s time to schedule something in. Have you ever done something like this?
A fly by trip to Lisbon for the launch of @miniuk #minielectric such an incredible trip and a seriously amazing car 🎞 A few film shots I took whilst I was there. We had a packed schedule but I managed to get a little time to explore and found some nice spots to try. So here’s a couple of recommendations for you: Breakfast: The Mill. I also tried Hello Kristof and Cafe Boavida but both we’re closed on the weekend. Dinner: I also ate dinner at JNcQuoa which was fab and such a good atmosphere. Pesca, Prado, and Tapisco also came out good in my research. Lunch: Finally a beautiful lunch at Bairro do Avillez!
When early mornings aren’t so bad after all ✨ #shotonfilm
