How lucky are we to have had this amazing human on our team! Since Adam’s 200 hour training in September he has been busy with teaching all around! In addition to his work with us at UEC he has been teaching privately at his studio space in Braddock. He was able to travel to Bali in March to participate in a 100 hour intensive that focused on a deeper understanding of the subtle world and continued his work with Maureen Gildersleeve and Anne Marie Torres of Mangala Yoga. Since his return, he has been focused on expanding and exploring his own practice and sharing the power of yoga with others in both studio and private settings. Today he is moving to Telluride, Colorado and is super excited to continue on this amazing journey. Thank you for being a part of our team! We will miss you but love that you’re following your heart! Live big and know you can always come home ❤️
Our Team is growing! Meet Ellen Gerasimek, you may have seen her practicing at the studio or even had her as a sub....we are so excited to announce that beginning, Saturday, September 7, she’ll be teaching Bootcamp, from 10:30-11:30 am! ELLEN GERASIMEK I have always been drawn to health and wellness, and I was so grateful to find an avenue for that through my undergrad career at Pitt. In becoming a personal trainer and group exercise instructor, I (quickly) burned myself out trying to look the part and be as motivating as possible to my students. I always encourage my students to discover the “why” behind their desire to exercise and become physically fit. After burning out, I found myself diving deep and discovering my “why”. Whether or not you’re new to exercise, we need to collectively realize that it’s not the caloric burn that we crave… it’s the movement!! Movement allows us to de-stress, get creative, find inner peace, and find gratitude for our health. Movement allows us to align our bodies with our minds — this is the way to truly elevate. Here’s my why: I exercise to find peace and gratitude. These are two concepts that I struggle with. We all need to remember that we have a privilege in this body that we’ve been given. This body can move, can breathe, and has another opportunity to embrace life when it wakes up in the morning. We should treat this body as a GIFT with love, respect, and kindness. Your body is a piece of the Universe that you’ve been given. Ellen graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science. She is currently enrolled in the University of Pittsburgh’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program, graduating in 2021. Ellen is a certified personal trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine and is a certified indoor cycling instructor through Keiser. Ellen currently works for Pitt’s Health and Physical Activity Department and Campus Recreation, training and instructing all levels of students, Pitt Faculty, and UPMC staff.
