I can’t believe our return trip to Scotland is less than 3 weeks away! Here is a timelapse of my quick watercolor sketch based on the Lismore Lighthouse on Eilean Musdile, as viewed from the Oban to Craignure ferry. Scroll through for my actual video of this beautiful scenery, filmed in June 2018.
My illustrated out-of-office message for the next week. I almost captioned this “how I see me, how my kids see me” but it goes both ways depending on our moods!
Found some wood, made some signs. #paintingforfun #thistlerestfarm
Lately I’ve been reflecting on how grateful I am for all the fantasy stories I love and all the people with whom I get to share them. These lines shared between Frodo and Sam came to me, and I had to turn them into an illustration that you can customize to give to someone in your life. I took the liberty of filling one out to Zach Kram and Isaac Lee on behalf of Mallory and Jason from @binge_mode (shop: kathrynholeman.com)
What do you see in the clouds? Today this enormous and lovable green tortoise dragon baby swooped down for a hug!

This morning I refurbished this sign I painted for my parents more than 20 years ago! The slate is from the original roof of Gray Chapel at our shared alma mater, @ohiowesleyan . When the roof was destroyed by a lightning strike in 1997, my parents (class of 1969) donated to the rebuild and received this slate in return which I (class of 2001) painted during my senior year of high school. #ohiowesleyan #owu #signpainting #acryliconslate #acrylic #paintersofinstagram
What do you see in the clouds? Yesterday I saw giant dragon dachshunds chasing each other across the sky!
My sweet summer child, there’s so much more to your story.
Sing me a song of a lass that is ... heading back to Scotland this summer! Working through my excitement with some new sketches for my travel journal. This one is based on a photo I took in 2017 at the breathtaking @1eileandonancastle . I can’t wait to see her again as we make our way to an @airbnb farmhouse on Skye! Timelapse of this is in my IG stories today.
I call this one “Procrastination in the form of Failed Screen Printing.” PSA for anyone who is considering taking on their own screen printing as a way to save costs by doing it yourself. Don’t! This “lovely” bag was the very best of the batch after spending way too much time and money thinking I could do it myself. I have whole new appreciation for the screen printing process! Stay tuned for the real bags, once I save up to try again 😉
My studio for morning ❤️ I’m experimenting with my new acrylics for a few hours before I head back to my graphic design client work. #mondaymotivation #paintersoninstagram
