Clippy beckons you to take a seat and interact with this pop-up exhibit for #Windows 95 weekend!
Tomorrow kicks off an amazing weekend for us! Both days include a celebration of the 24th birthday of #Microsoft #Windows95. We brought out some extra items #fromthearchives, including these courtesy of LCM+L's own Jeff Parsons! Saturday is super stacked with West Seattle Appreciation Day, a breadboarding workshop and showing of The Augmentation of Douglas Engelbart complete with a Q&A with the filmmakers! #computinghistory #retrocomputing #STEM #augmentationfilm #make
The great Douglas Engelbart inspired a great number of leaps in computing, including the Xerox Alto. Inspired by Engelbart's On-Line System (NLS), Xerox PARC made the machine that shaped home computing. To learn about Engelbart and his influence, come see The Augmentation of Douglas Engelbart this Saturday afternoon. You can also interact with many machines he inspired, like our Xerox Alto! All of this is included with admission to the museum. #computinghistory #retrocomputing #augmentationfilm #engelbart #ComeInGeekOut
You've got presents! #HappyBirthday to AOL Co-Founder Steve Case, who turns 61 #otd. AOL was one of the driving forces in internet growth and, as a result, computing innovation and access. The prolific AOL CDs here are in our #archives as artifacts in #computinghistory.
We have a jam packed weekend coming up! Working with West Seattle Blog, we're celebrating our neighbors to the southwest with West Seattle Appreciation Day! We have a great lineup of family friendly events- a breadboarding workshop, a viewing of The Augmentation of Douglas Engelbart w/ creator Q&A, and Windows 95 anniversary themed programming and displays. #WestSeattle #Seattle #computinghistory #engineering #retrocomputing #STEM
This weekend, we're celebrating the 34th anniversary of the release of #Windows 95, one of the most successful products by #Microsoft. Use the classic OS & contemporary software, and see items pulled from the archives just for this! Included w/ admission! #otd #HappyBirthday #computinghistory #retrocomputing #windows95
#HappyBirthday to Gordon Bell! Bell designed computers like this PDP-6, on display at our museum. In addition to being a pioneer in #computing, Bell is a computer museum pioneer, founding The Computer Museum in Boston back in 1979. #computinghistory #retrocomputing #otd
The Labs at LCM+L have many uses. Part of our training is getting acquainted with the vintage systems that are accessible here and remotely via our website. Big thanks to our Engineering Manager Stephen for demystifying them for us! #retrocomputing #mainframe #computinghistory
