Re-post: @millardsheetsartcenter Sculptor and ceramic artist, Charles Snowden (@ipeeinmywetsuit) explores solitude through abstract figurative and botanical sculptures. These figures are used to express the desire for connection to a foreign, yet familiar, space and his attempt in exploring feelings of distance and detachment. By using textures, patterns, and glazes in his work, Snowden accentuates and obscures the material nature of the medium, providing the viewer moments of speculation and imagination. His work has been exhibited at the Oceanside Museum of Art (@oceansidemuseum), Kruglak Art Gallery (@kruglakgallery), the San Diego Art Institute (@sandiegoartinstitute), and the California Center for the Arts (@theccae). ... Snowden, along with 10 other visual artists, is exhibiting work at the Millard Sheets Art Center this fall. We hope you can join us for our opening reception on Saturday, Aug. 24 from 6 – 9 pm. RSVP by clicking the link in our bio. ... Each year the LA County Fair hosts ‘Week for Heroes’ with $2 admission for active and retired military, EMT’s, fire and police. We also donate half of the proceeds to a non-profit who supports these groups. This year, we are looking for your suggestions on who should receive this $10,000 donation. We are grateful for our heroes and can't wait to celebrate them during this year's Fair! Nominate an organization in the comments!
