Happy first day of class @officialsps students and teachers! In the spirit of back-to-school, here’s a unique breakfast idea that’s perfect for nourishing your mind and your belly. Champorado is a traditional Filipino chocolate rice porridge recipe that you can make with both of our Products of Change: Premium Kyela Rice AND roasted cocoa tablets, Tableya. Find the recipe by searching “tableya” on askinosie.com. Hankering for more? You can learn all about our #AProductofChange initiatives in the Philippines and Tanzania at our Thursday Chocolate Tastings at 1:30pm. This week’s event on 8/16 is fully booked, but there are still spots available for next week’s tasting on 8/23! Book online or give us a call at (417) 862-9900.
We love reading your reviews! If you’ve had the chance to stop by our factory storefront, attend a tour or tasting or sample our chocolate, consider leaving us a few notes on your visit or experience. Whether it’s on Facebook, Google, Yelp, TripAdvisor or your post-purchase thoughts on Square, we love hearing from you. We use your notes to improve the #Askinosie experience for everyone, so drop us a line!
Happy #NationalSmoresDay! Our handcrafted S’more Bark is the perfect way to celebrate. It’s our version of the classic treat, deconstructed (in other words--all the chocolatey crunchy goodness, without the mess). We’ve got just a few boxes left of this summertime favorite, so be sure to snag one while you can!
Have you tried our White Chocolate? No palm oil, emulsifiers, or soy here. The main ingredient? Our house-pressed single origin cocoa butter! Enjoy that #beantobar goodness three ways: 1️⃣ The classically sweet, buttery & smooth White Chocolate Bar, where it all started. From there, things get interesting. 2️⃣ Our White Chocolate + Pistachio Bar is topped with organic pistachios for a slightly salty treat. 3️⃣ Get the best of both worlds with our White Chocolate Nibble Bar, studded with #singleorigin Roasted Cocoa Nibs. They’re not “regular” White Chocolate Bars, they’re “cool” White Chocolate Bars 💁
We’re grinning & it’s because dark chocolate is good for your teeth, too. Among the 300 lovely compounds in chocolate, there’s one that can be more beneficial in fighting plaque, preventing cavities and hardening enamel than fluoride! Yet another reason to have a few bites of #askinosie today. Direct link to the article in our stories!
Happy 2-Year Workiversary to our Tanzania Field Rep, Saraphiner (pictured here with our lead farmer partner, Mama Mpoki)! She inspires us daily with her positive energy, cocoa smarts and heart for the farmers and students of Mababu, the village where we source our Tanzania cocoa beans and fund our Empowered Girls and Enlightened Boys clubs that Saraphiner operates. The second picture depicts something we’ve dreamed about for awhile: a residence and office space for our Field Rep! The cocoa farmers built it as a community and our team got to see it in person during #origintripTanzania a few weeks ago. Saraphiner will be the first resident of this new Mababu home. Thank you for all you do for us, Saraphiner and congrats on your new space! #DirectTrade #eatgoodchocolate #askinosieteam
THANK YOU, MISSOURI! What an honor to be named Best Confectioner in the area for the 4th consecutive year by the readers of @feastmag! Congrats to our fellow Missouri-made winners. Be sure to check out the entire list of local favorites.
Every single bar we make is packaged and inspected, by hand. We’re extremely proud of that fact and even more proud of the hardworking team that makes it happen. The rockstar in the center of this pic, Flora, celebrated a birthday this past weekend! She has been such an integral, charismatic part of the factory for 11+ years and we’re incredibly lucky to have her on our #askinosieteam!!
Wishing a very happy 10th birthday to our friends and bulk partners, @vanleeuwenicecream!! Hope it’s as sweet as this German Chocolate Cake cone made with our #singleorigin chocolate. 😉 If (like us) you aren’t located near one of their scoop shops or trucks, we’re sharing an #askinosie chocolate shell recipe in our stories today.
Have you had the chance to attend one of our brand new Tasting Tours? Held every Thursday at 1:30, these intimate gatherings are a new variation on our popular Tuesday factory tours. Not only can you watch our production team making chocolate right in front of you, you’ll learn more about the bean to bar process as you participate in an in-depth guided tasting! There’s still a few spots available for tomorrow’s Tasting Tour. Book your spot at askinosie.com.
Have you been reading Meaningful Work as part of our Book Club this summer? We’re posting prompts and ideas, culminating with a live Q&A with the authors, Shawn and Lawren Askinosie, at the end of the season. Grab your copy and join us today! Here are a few prompts to get the conversation started... • 📖 It’s not about the chocolate, it’s about our relationships with the farmers, it’s about sharing. At the same time, it is about the chocolate, the quality of the beans, and the attention to every single detail that makes it one of the best bars in the world.” • 📚 How does knowing more about a product impact the way you feel about it? • 📖 “Small business can be the solution to many of the problems in the world.” • 📚 As consumers we can make a difference through our purchases. What are some other small businesses you love who impact the greater good? 📷 by: @lizprueitt_tartine #meaningfulwork #askinosiebook #bookclub #askinosie
At the conclusion of #origintripTanzania, we gathered the co-op together for the final meeting of the week and shared profits with our Mababu farmer partners. First, some students addressed the group and shared their thoughts on their experience over the last week. We reviewed the profit share statement line by line, revenues and expenses, in Swahili and English. Then Shawn and Lawren handed over cash that the co-op will decide how to distribute and/or invest. Afterwards, the farmers bid us goodbye with a special song and dance as we boarded our coaster to head home. #ChocolateUniversity2018 #DirectTrade #askinosie
