I took a break to care for my family. My dad’s Parkinson’s has escalated. He’s in the hospital and I’m doing all I can to help from afar. Being tired and vulnerable has become a tool to listen, learn, and have difficult conversations about about race and racism. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I don’t want to deter from the movement. Keep making, keep fighting. The art that comes out now will reflect this moment and reinforce the messages we’re fighting for. Support Black artists, donate and/ or auction your own art to donate money to BLM organizations, write/call your local politicians, listen, learn, and keep talking to one another. Keep doing. Keep making. Keep fighting.
2 months (?)+ in and I’m just going to go ahead and temporarily open The Functional Introverts Association membership to everyone. Also my level of functioning is minimal so... i’m just crossing out that functional part on mine. Hang in there!
Tonight, I’m taking my favorite patches and converting them into pins so I can move them around from bag to shirt to jacket (i’m commitment phobic when it comes to iron on patches). Grab a project or just sit in for the tutorial and let’s work on something together for a little bit. See you then!
I think a lot about the emotional impact of my art and what happens when you create something and put it out into the world. Im making 100 of these in order to help offset emotional carbon footprint by making at least 100 people smile. I wanted to make sure they could tell their story and I’m very happy how this video turned out! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~First batch of these ceramic pieces are out on my personal site if you want to take one home www.RisaCulbertson.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~thank you @apathyistheenemy for teaching and helping me with editing and sound!
Ceramics has been soothing to the soul more than ever these days. Made a few diner special ceramic pins and they’re up on the site now. 🥓🍳🥑
My mom showed me that kindness is strength. She cares deeply for people. She’s the strongest person I know so, if I turn out anything like her, I would call that totally ok by me. Happy Mother’s Day mamas. 🌷
