ONE ANSWER 2 out of 2~ I remember my first real job at a clothing multi national. I was hired because there was this policy of inclusion. The employee team needed to become a representation of our diverse society. Apparently that didn’t happen organically. This is about 23 years ago. I felt the policy was right, but the fact that a policy was needed felt very wrong and alarming to me. But now these issues are still not solved. How many more policies do we need to achieve equity? While the only answer is very simple: “treat someone the way you want to be treated yourself”. That holds righteousness and empathy for an individual. In the Western World we live in an indivualized society but being treated based on that individuality is a privilege that only white people can enjoy. I remember going to my doctor because my periods were out of control, lots of pain, loads of blood. She adviced me to take contraceptive pil continuously without a break. I told her my concerns on chemical hormones and interfering the natural rythm of my body. She said: In your culture flowing of blood during periods is extremely important but I can tell you it is overrated. I said: my problem is not cultural...... Why did she had to put my complaint in her own perception of what my culture is? After months of not being taken seriously, i was diagnosed with endometriosis. All she needed to do was treat me as an individual with empathy. If it would have been an honest concern instead of a filthy judgement she could have just asked! I want you to know that with my appearance I pass easily for white person. The rascism that i experienced was not based on my appearance but on my name. It was always about their deception of my culture, their deception of my religion, their deception of my lifestyle, their deception of my social status and their deception of my ability to speak the dutch language. I mentioned this to show one example of the “not in your face racism” that i was referring to in my earlier post. The layers of racism are deep and complex. I’m very well aware of the fact that I “only” had to deal with this kind of racism is because of my own white privilege! #thefutureisinclusive
ONE ANSWER 1 out of 2~ I was absent, simply because I needed time to process all the things that are happening. But now it is more important than ever to take a stand. By stating Black Lives Matter I acknowledge the fact that black people are systematically treated unfair. And that shouldn’t have existed in the first place. It has to stop now permanently! We can no longer tolerate institutionalized racism. We can no longer accept a society that is build on systematic racism. White man’s supremacy ends now! All the wealth that was achieved in the Western World was achieved because of rascism. This history is not something of the past. This history is relevant because the system is build on exactly that history. This is not (only) about in your face racism, because any right minded people are against that. But this is about the racism that is not spoken out loudly, it is behind closed doors, between the rules and hidden in plain sight. As society as a whole we need to ackowledge and accept all the consequences that come from this injustice. We need to be ready to give up all the white privileges and we have to do that from a place of respect and empathy otherwise we cannot move forward. If that means that statues need to be placed out of public spaces and be placed in a space of education, support that. If that means adaptation in history classes, make it possible. If that means (monetary) repayment for suffered damages for black people, make a plan and fulfill that debt. If that means tons of policies because apparently these transitions aren’t happening in society organicly, write and execute those policies now. If that means the tradition of Sinterklaas and Black Pete needs to be discarded from racial features in order to be an inclusive festive tradition, simply do it. And do it NOW! The future is inclusive! I did my best to choose my word wisely according to my beliefs. English is not my native Language. If you are offended by my words, feel free to let me know! I’m always willing to learn and become a better person. One love! Henna on my son in African tape resist technique #blacklivesmatter #inclusivity #beontherightsideofhistory
EQUALITY & JUSTICE ~ Recent days there is playing this Bob Marley song in my head continuously.... Until the philosophy Which hold one race superior and another Inferior Is finally And permanently Discredited And abandoned Everywhere is war Me say war That until there no longer First class and second class citizens of any nation Until the color of a man's skin Is of no more significance than the color of his eyes Me say war That until the basic human rights Are equally guaranteed to all Without regard to race Dis a war That until that day The dream of lasting peace, World citizenship Rule of international morality Will remain in but a fleeting illusion to be pursued, But never attained Now everywhere is war War Time is now to reclaim fundamental human right of equality! It is sickening and repulsive that in 2020 this battle still needs to take place in a nation that is so advanced they launch their space x vehicle, but they can’t prevent effing rascist murders by cops from happening. And let me be very clear....institutionalized rascism and all kinds of rascism is a worldwide plague. Any rascism that we tolerate means we approve and even validate. We can’t be neutral. Time is now. This change will only be achieved when we all, no matter our skin color, take a stand together!!! We all stand together. The time is now! Artwork by: @mehndi_by_nadia Thank you so much for sending me your brilliant lino artworks! I love them! The song is by bob marley the lyrics come from a speech of Haile Selassie. I don’t agree with the idea of multiple races. There is only one human race. But the message remain the truth. Racism leads to war. We need to stop this now!!!! And we will achieve if we don’t let anyone divide us!!!!
BIG SHOUTOUT TO MY SON~ Thanks to all participants of the Moroccan or not Moroccan quiz and live Henna session for @hennaartistsoftheworldunite , last friday. I had fun and seeing all the positive feedback I can reassure myself that you were having fun too while you learned some interesting things! If you missed it, you can still find it at my IGTV. I want to use this opportunity to give a shoutout to my son. He recorded the live session and because of that I was able to focus on the topics that I wanted to share. Without his support It wouldn’t have been possible. He is the light of my life! Maybe you have already seen his hand and this design in one of my stories few weeks ago, but this is the “official” photo that I haven’t shared yet....untilll now! On his hand you see a tape resist design. So I didn’t used a syringe this time 😜 It is a technique that is used in many countries, from southern Morocco and Mauretania, into West-Africa all the way to Sudan, just to name a few. For me it is a way to honor his heritage (even though Henna is still a thing of women....when your mum is a Henna artist, you cannot escape from it 😝) I started to use this technique when he was little. But since it is quite time consuming, the designs were lot bolder back then ....the more patience...the more details... I love this style and I want to do it more often. Unfortunately I can’t do it on my own hands because I need two hands to apply and cut the tape. Anyway, back to the topic.....if you enjoyed my live session, feel free to give a thumbs up to my son!!! He deserves it! His name is Mimoun. 🧡 #naturalhennastain #taperesist #taperesistart #hennabodyart #naturalhenna #hennaformen #hennahanddesign #hennarotterdam #hennanederland #intangibleculturalheritage #hennatradition #hennaritual #westafrican #westafrica #morocco

MABROK EL 3IED- At Hand of Fatima we only send out orders that contain homemade Henna paste on mondays. Customers who didn’t ordered in time were going to miss out on doing henna for L’Eid. But fortunately I anticipated this and made some extra Henna paste so that customers in my area could pick up their “too late” hennapaste orders. Tonight my last customer came by and she was the best of all because she didn’t came empty-handed. She gave me a box of 7aloua to thank me for helping her out last minute. 😍😍😍 Now I use my “7aloua” in the picture to give her a shoutout! Thank you Karima, for the wonderful surprise! Wish you and your loved ones a blessed Eid! (These cookies were made during a class @hand.of.fatima.henna.academy )
SUN IS SHINING~ I thought this design matches today’s weather perfectly 🌞 But I’m not here to talk about the weather. Everyone who missed out on my stories yesterday missed out on the news that @hennaartistsoftheworldunite is organizing a big surprise......YEAH 💪🏽 . Once again, participating artists from our very first #hennamarathon have come together to offer one class a day on the above-mentioned dates and times. 🎉 . Topics will be a surprise! Won’t it be fun to learn something unexpected? 😜 @kiransahib_henna 🇬🇧 @syraskins 🇸🇬 @sonias_henna_art 🇨🇦 @mehndidesigner 🇺🇲 @henna_paradise 🇦🇺 @mehndibyhayat 🇮🇳 @devimehndi 🇳🇮 @diosa.baad 🇹🇹 @hand.of.fatima 🇳🇱 . Make sure you are following the artists above, turning your post notifications on so that you don't miss out on their live demos. Fortunately, Instagram is letting some of us save our live videos on IGTV, while other demos will remain on the artists Instagram Story feed for 24 hours after the live video is done. . The schedule have been done based on each artists time zone, as well as GMT. . If you are having trouble figuring out the schedule, please consider checking your timezone against the Greenwich Mean Time or GMT. It’s quite difficult to respond to numerous DMs from around the world asking about time zones. . A gentle reminder - please be respectful and kind towards instructors during each live session. INSPIRATION IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER~ Good morning everyone! 🧡What are you up to today? We are experiencing high temperatures today as if it is already Summer! That reminds me to post this picture. I took it on a very hot day too......in Algeciras, Spain, last summer. When I travel, ordinary life inspires me. My eyes are always seeking beauty....in the simple things. This is just a wall surrounding someone’s garden, but by capturing it, it becomes a still life and when you see it now, you can imagine why it inspires me. The heavenly scent of the jasmine flowers drew me to this spot to be honest. I like how the branches fall loosely like a hairdo in the morning. I love the contrast between the organic flow of jasmin and the straight lines of the square tiles. I love how jasmin is depicted on the center tile as well! Then last but not least, the henna-like color and the patterns!! As a Hennaholic I’m attracted to them like a magnet attracts iron...hhhh...🧲 By storing pictures like these in my files I always have inspiration on hand for my next work..... To be honest I have collected far more inspiration than I will ever use in my lifetime....🙉but hey when you do something, do it well or not at all 💪🏽 Where do you find inspiration or what inspires you?
MEMORY MONDAY~ Is that even a thing? Now it is! I love this photo because it shows different stages of color development of a henna stain. From fresh stain on the right to more matured stains in the middle and on the right. Also this photo brings back happy memories of @henna_con 2019 where I had the pleasure of hanging out with these awesome ladies @henna_herbivore @artfulcrickethenna and @high_desert_henna (and also hennaing them) It was so good to have spend some time with each of you individually. We made meaningful connections and you are in my heart. Especially during this crisis it is empowering to think back of these beautiful moments. Last week our government decided that I ‘m allowed to take one to one appointments on the condition that the correct precautions are taken, such as a mouth mask and that hygiene regulations are being followed. I’m not the type of person that jumps back into business like nothing ever happened. I want to think about this first and find a way that I feel comfortable with. For now that means that I won’t be taking appointments for L’Eid Henna. Former holidays we organised Henna Hop-Ins. People could reserve a certain time slot and come in earlier and staying longer. As the hennapaste needs time to dry before we tape the designs, clients where staying here.....But now need distant of 1,5 mtr. So this was the way that felt comfortable for me. Women gathering, relaxing, chatting, sitting close to each other.... You know I don’t feel ready yet to offer my services in a new way...a new working mode... What about you? Are you a henna artist that changes her or his way of working according to covid legislations? Or do you prefer to wait a little longer to see what happens? I would love to hear your experiences! #natural #hennaart #bodyart #handoffatima #signaturestyle #hennacraft #expressionthroughart #favoritehenna #favoritegirls #hennaritual #hennatime #hennacon #hennacon2019 #meaningfulrituals #hennaexperience #intangibleculturalheritage #immaterieelcultureelerfgoed #immaterieelerfgoednederland #hennarotterdam #hennanederland #rotterdam #hennaritueel #hennakunst
CUTE KID ON THE BLOCK~ Some tima ago @soumias_henna_studio nominated me to take part in a challenge. I was supposed to post a picture of me when I was young. I totally forgat about it. But when I was tidying up some closets I found an old photo album! I decided to take a pic of this pic to share it with you all. I just love what I was wearing there!!! I wish I could have that top in my actual size hhhh I would still rock it lol....not with bare legs tho 🙉 Also it matches my 🐪 theme. At the moment I’m working on my classes for my Dutch students @hand.of.fatima.henna.academy Due to Covid legislations the classes take place online. Topic for my first year students is Henna (style) off the body. They will learn how to apply Henna on other surfaces than skin and also how to use Henna techniques with different mediums. Topic for my second year students is Tape resist style. If you have paid attention to my stories lately you may have seen my son with a Hennadesign in that particular style. They will learn the origines of this style, how to apply it and much more. I’m still working on getting my classes accessible internationally too. Please be patient with me!
LAST ONE~ I miss doing Henna on clients these days....but fortunately I have lots of pictures in my phone that bring back memories from times when I was hennaing people 🥰 This photo in particular was shot at @henna_con 2019. I did this design on the last evening/night on @hennacaravan . It was the final Henna design I did. I was exhausted and felt drunk of tiredness hahaha. If you have ever attend a Henna conference than you know there is not much sleeping involved hahah. But no matter the insomnia it was a pleasure to do this henna for Jessica. Now that we are living under social distancing conditions, the thought of @henna_con makes me emotional. 100+ likeminded Henna artists sharing their passion and doing Henna on one another. It seems like yesterday and at the same time it feels like ages ago. Also the beautiful tuareg pendant was from @opalmoonhenna It was the perfect addition for this shot. Thanks for letting me use it 😘 And another “also”: this style of Henna is not traditional Moroccan. In Moroccan Henna straight lines and dense patterns are one of the default settings. Here on the contrary you see curved lines and “floating” elements. This is just Hand of Fatima’s 😉
ESCAPE FROM REALITY~ As I mentioned in my live stream a while back, Henna is my best friend ever since I picked up the syringe and started practicing this beautiful Art form. There are of course traditional rituals but I also have a Henna ritual for myself. That has become a traditional practice as well....at least for me 😊. My Henna Ritual provides me an escape from reality and that’s why I love it so much! I forget everything around me. Just like a deep meditation. In this design you can see clearly where my mind was going during my ritual... 🌙🌴🐪🌴🕌🌴🌙 During these Hennafy myself rituals I try out new ideas or sometimes I just let it happen. This time it was an idea that has been in my mind for about 6 months. Clearly, I never rush my ideas. 🤣. I’m convinced that rushing don’t lead to the desirable outcome. In general, whenever you have a good plan or idea and you want to execute it, take every step with the right attention and intention. Let it grow profoundly and show it to the world when you are ready to release it. Like a baby that has become an adult and leaving his family. That is my way of doing things and it works for me. There is no baraka in things that are done hurried and mindlessly. What do you think of the result of my Henna meditation? #hennaart #nontraditional #hennadesign #hennameditation #hennafymyself #hennafyme #escapefromreality #dreaminginhenna #sceneinhenna #lifeofanartisan #artonskin #creativelifenl #creativehenna #camelsofinstagram #camelandpalms #dromedary #hennanederland #hennaartistnederland #rotterdamhenna #nederlandhenna #hennakunst #cultureelerfgoed #immaterieelerfgoed #immaterieelcultureelerfgoed #intangibleculturalheritage
🧡NO ORANGE TODAY~ Except the fresh henna stain on my hand. Where I live, today is a national holiday, King’s day. Normally everyone is going outside dressed in orange (national color) and I would offer my henna services on the so called “free market” . On Kingsday every citizen is allowed to be a merchant on the street. So usually there a kids selling their toys, adults selling their homeware. But also people get creative and sell homemade food. When my son was little he used to make things with his grand mother and they were sitting next to me. As I was slinging henna, they were selling cat magnets made out of clay, for example😀🐈(precious memories) . Unfortunately today is just another day at home during corona crisis. The only orange I see is the fresh hennastain on my hand. I left the hennapaste sit on my skin overnight and when I peeled it off in the morning this is what it looks like. Even after zillion years of doing henna this process still amazes me every time again. This bright orange stain will oxidize into a beautiful dark brick red or auburn color in the next two days. . What do you think about this design? If you scroll through my feed can you tell where I draw inspiration from? Tell me in the comments! 🧡🧿🧡🧿🧡 #freshhennastain #hennaisneverblack #hennaisorangeatfirst #hennastainprogression #hennastains #nontraditional #hennadesign #hennacreativity #koningsdagthuis #koningsdag2020 #woningsdag2020 #creativeentrepreneur #hennakunst #hennarotterdam #hennanederland #hennakunstenaar #immaterieelerfgoed #immaterieelcultureelerfgoed #intangibleculturalheritage
RAMADAN MOUBARAK~ Wishing my fasting friends a blessed month of Ramadan! With all the challenges we are facing at the moment it will be a month of Ramadan unlike any other. Let’s remain positive and hopeful! Stay calm and remind yourself that you are not alone we are in this together! Let’s focus on spirituality and doing good for one another. Together we can do it! Bless you and your loved ones 🧡 This drawing on paper was made by me, i think more than 5 years ago. It was a commissioned piece! As you can see I draw the patterns according to Moroccan Fessi Henna style. Traditionally a lotus is not part of that repertoire, but I found it very appropriate for my wish today. Let us strive for our hearts, minds and bevaviour to be as pure as a lotus....and not only during the month of Ramadan, but always🧡 Stay safe, stay home, stay healthy! #ramadan2020 #ramadanmoubarak #ramadanmubarak #handoffatima #hennadrawing #hennainspiredart #markerdrawing #lotus #lotusflower #tekeninginopdracht #hennakunst
DO YOU FEEL THE SAME?~ Some days I’m feeling all the blues, but more and more days are passing on which I have blueless moments. In the beginning it started with a few seconds, a blink of an eye....I forgot....just for a split sec that this crisis was going on.....but now that weeks have passed...I have adapted to this new reality and sometimes, when I’m working on my computer or reading a book or whatever, I just forget that we are in a crisis and not just for a split second, not just in a blink of an eye....no....for hours! For hours I forget this situation! It almost feel like a mourning process. And I hear a voice in my head judging my feelings “How can you forget about this???!!!” And yes maybe it is weird, maybe even inappropriate? Or does it just mean that we as human beings adapt quickly and also accept easily what is being asked from us. Honestly I don’t think there is a right or wrong when it comes to feelings during this crisis. Do you recognise this emotional rollercoaster? In the picture some more “blues”. In case you haven’t noticed...I have a huge crush on ultramarine 🧿💙 I took this photo at #chinalightfestival earlier this year around #chinesenewyear . I visited the festival with my niece and we were in awe of all the colorful beautiful light installations. It is hard to comprehend that visiting this festival was only a few months ago! While a quiet summer is ahead of us, I choose to enjoy some precious memories!
LET LOVE GROW~ I can't believe it's been a week since I did my first live stream on instagram! And even though we are still in this crisis, that live thing was definitely a highlight for me. Please do follow @hennaartistsoftheworldunite because another day of free live streams from world-renowned Henna Artists is already announced by @mehndidesigner Cannot wait to enjoy the live-streams of these phenomenal ladies @sarashenna @aza_hennaart @mehndicultrofficial and @hennacrone Today I want to share another work of a phenomenal lady and if you were part of the online Henna Community in the very early days you must know her! The second picture is her work!!! I’m talking about Kree Arvanitas aka @rebeldogstudio This beautiful heart is her contribution to #hennahearts4coronafighters Unfortunately she doesn’t do anything on instagram. She posted it on facebook and asked me to share it for her on instagram. She dedicated this hennaheart to her nephew Samos who is a critical care nurse and on the frontlines of treating corona patients. The heart itself is done on paper with gouache. I love it. Thank you so much Kree for sharing your beautiful work and personal obeisance with us. The first picture is just another digital drawing that I did yesterday. Some days I feel so perplexed. By drawing I regain my hope. If you haven’t contributed your hennaheart yet to #hennahearts4coronafighters please know that you still can. As long as we are in this crisis we need to be grateful for everyone who is fighting this battle. We are in this together. Be patient, let your love and empathy grow and we will be stronger once these days are past us. #hennahearts4coronafighters #hennahearts #digitalhenna #digitalhennadrawing #digitalwallpainting #hennaheart #gouacheart #gouacheonpaper #creativityincrisis #creativityinisolation #artincoronatimes #kreearvanitas #hennasisters #hennaartistsaroundtheworldunite #createandcultivate #uniteandstrengthen #digitalhennaart
SOME WORDS FROM ME TO YOU~ Yesterday I did my first ever livestream. Thanks to @mehndidesigner who initiated @hennaartistsoftheworldunite and invited me to do a live Henna session. (You are brilliant Neeta, everybody loved your initiative!) All the feedback that I have received from you all was just overwhelming. Thank you so much 🧡I feel so positively motivated and encouraged that I seriously consider to do more live video’s. Also this wouldn’t have been possible without my son. He did a brilliant job recording the video. Sorry sweet friends if I have not yet answered your messages....I will! I do my best but there were so many dm’s coming in, I totally lost track of counting. For all my friends around the world who celebrate Easter or Pesach, I wish you all happy holidays, despite the current pandemic we are in. Here just a quick breakfast shot from our side of the world, with my sons favorite baghrir, (Moroccan “pancakes” with 1001 holes) I guess I’m not the only one who is spending much more time in the kitchen (cooking and baking) since we were forced to stay at home..... Comment with 🧡if you are like me. MONDAY BLUES~ I took this picture last summer and when I look at it now I realise how much my perspective on things in life has changed in such a short period of time. A closed door, the image alone, knowing about the circumstances we are in, can no longer be JUST a closed door. Things have changed. And I hope that these changes will lead us to a more responsible lifestyle as humankind. But for now I must tell you that the worries are still in control. I do have faith and confidence that we (the people I live with in my country) do everything we can to make the best out of this situation. My worries are for the les fortunate people in the world, people in the refugee camps, or in slum quarters. Or homeless people and beggars...people in extreme poverty... Now that we all have to stay inside it makes me feel more and more powerless. On a more positive note I am optimistic about all the creativity that is see across social media. I’ve been doing some painting myself too. I painted my table in a flamingo pink and I painted a chest of drawers in a dark lavender. Now I also want to paint my wall in the color of this door #yveskleinblue I already have the bucket of paint for over a year but I didn’t get too it. So hopefully I will in the coming weeks. Have you been doing things differently since your country closed down? Do you feel like you have more time now? I would love to read your experiences in the comments! 😘😘😘 Stay home Stay safe! Oh yes and by the way this planter....reason why I took the picture...I love it #ihavethisthingwithpalmtrees 😍🌴 #closeddoor #ihavethisthingwithdoors #morocco #moroccandoors #majorelleblue #yveskleinbleu #casaazulblue
HENNA HEARTS UNITE ~ One week ago I launched the idea my aunt @bijdehandje.van.fatima came up with. We call it: Coronafighters, the Henna Community heartens each one of you!” Our plan is to spread as many Henna Hearts as possible all over instagram to hearten anyone that is fighting corona filed under #hennahearts4coronafighters Whether they are doctors and nurses or corona patients or anyone who is fighting this battle in their own way. We want this to be an ode to everyone who is making the difference in these challenging times. We are all in this together! And every little contribution matters! To everyone who already participated I want to say thank you from the bottom of my (henna) heart. To everyone who just find out about it now I would like to encourage you to join us. Check out #hennahearts4coronafighters to see all the beautiful Henna Hearts 💞💞💞 Now the story behind this heart. Obviously now it is contributed to all Corona Fighters! But I made it 5 years ago and @kayla_noor purchased it from me. Back to present times I always plan my instagram photos (because I want all the colors and themes to match etc...) A couple of weeks ago I planned this heart to be posted now. Corona crisis wasn’t here yet. What are the odds? Yesterday I packed @kayla_noor ‘s second order from me. (She lives in the USA and I live in the Netherlands) I don’t believe in coincidence. Thing is, I was playing around with my photos to plan them ahead. Everytime I moved the heart to another position, I thought of her. And now her second order happens and I planned to post her first purchase at the same time..... (chokrane Kayla 😘) You see thoughts are powerful. Let us send out positive thoughts with every Henna Heart we create. Together we can make a difference! Let’s do this #hennahearts4coronafighters We can make an impact! #hennahearts4coronafighters #corona #covid_19 #fightcoronavirustogether #fightcoronatogether #hennaartistunite #hennaart #moroccanhenna #moroccanhennadesign #acrylicpainting #tazerzit #teseghnest #heart #moroccanheritage If you are reading up until here, I love you 😜
STANDSTILL ~ How ironic, last time when I posted a moto photo I asked you all where do you want it to take you? Now looking at this parked moto in nowadays circumstances is totally different. While Normally in Mrakech its hard to walk around without being hit by one......now they are all silent. All over the world we are silent and we have stopped moving. On a personal level my work as a Henna Artist has come to a stop. Festivals and events are cancelled. Private appointments are cancelled. My workshops are cancelled. At this moment I’m looking to find a way to continue my classes for @hand.of.fatima.henna.academy I think we have great possibilities living in this internet age. We can be and stay connected on so many different levels. I will have to adjust my class materials to be able to let it work to the fullest while teaching online. I am confident this will work. During this downtime my webshop is still open. (For my Dutch friends check link in bio to take a look) So if you are staying inside and want to do something fun, why not laying your hands on henna or laying henna on your hands....by yourself! That sound more appropriate 😜All the instructions and products can be found in Hand of Fatima Webshop. If you have questions? I’m here for you!
HENNA COMMUNITY I CALL ON YOU....~ Dear friends and followers from all over the world. At this moment it is not only the Art of Henna that connects us but unfortunately also the corona virus. I don't have large resources at my disposal to make a big impact. But I do have a big heart and a lot of creativity. My aunt @bijdehandje.van.fatima came up with this idea and I embraced it immediately. We call it: Coronafighters, the Henna Community heartens each one of you!” Our plan is to spread as many Henna Hearts as possible all over instagram to hearten anyone that is fighting corona. Whether they are doctors and nurses or corona patients or anyone who is fighting this battle in another way. We want this to be an ode to everyone who is making the difference in this challenging situation. That can even be you and me staying home. We are all in this together! And every little contribution matters! This is the heart I start with. My heart is for @studio_alerta her father will soon to leave this world and due to closed borders she cannot be with him in Chili. I don’t have words to comfort you! I just want to let you know my thoughts are with you and I hearten you Ale! So Henna Friends are you going to join me? Make your Henna Heart on skin, paper or practise hand. It doesn’t matter. If you are a pro or a newbe, doesn’t matter either. Let’s do this together #hennahearts4coronafighters If we send out our positive thoughts, our beautiful creativity, our pure intentions....we can make an impact. #corona #coronovirus2020 #hennacommunity #hennaartistsaroundtheworld #internationalhennaartist #internationalhenna #letsunite #spreadpositivevibes
I NEED YOU, HENNA FRIENDS! ~ At the moment we are all woried. My feelings are well portrayed in this wall painting ( took this picture in Asilah, Morocco) This very beautiful painting is by @sandrinelorenzomuraliste Last couple of days I felt very overwhelmed and not know what to do. In a way everything felt so meaningless. But now that this new reality has sunken in, I want to do something meaningful and positive....and I’m working on it as we speak....but I’m gonna need you my Henna friends! All of you!!! So I’m just checking in quickly to ask you to keep an eye out on my next post tonight in which I will reveal the idea 💡!!! For now stay safe and check back in 6 hours or so from now to see what I’m talking about. Oh yeah one quick other note. To all my friends and followers who celebrate Nowruz (@naghshghif do you? ) I wish you all a blessed day for you and your loved ones despite all the challenges we are facing. My heart is with you 🧡
KEEP CALM~ It took me some days to fully proces what is happening. And then I’m not talking about the fact that the corona virus spread all over the world. When it started in China, I already had a gut feeling about it. So it wasn’t a surprise when it came to Europe. What does surprise though is the fact how many people don’t take their responsibility. It took days before our government took the descision to close all the schools and catering industry but still shops are open....l?!?! I just don’t get it. What surprised me too and also not in a fun way, were all the egocentric hoarders in the supermarket?!? Like wtf will you survive on toiletpaper in case the shops run empty? Never heard of water and soap to clean ya ass?!?! I don’t want to spend anymore time talking about this subject because it frustrates me. Yes I agree it is a difficult time! And yes small businesses such as myself will have hard times and lose money. It will give us problems. But out there in the world are still far more worse things going on! Like wars or people dying of starvation, extreme poverty, nature being destroyed for the sake of money, animal abuse....etc. Just some examples. And this virus will reach those people too! So what I want to say is we are in such priviliged conditions we can handle this if we take our responsibility. Don’t be egoistic, think of your fellow men! When you go shopping don’t buy more than you need. Stay home so that you don’t contribute to spreading the virus. This is the only way we can spread the infections over a longer period of time in order to give the healthcare system room to deal with all the casualties. This is the only way to give everyone a fair chance. Let us protect our elders. Let’s not forget that some of them endured war or fought in war for us. The only reason we are here is because of them. All that is expected from us is to stay home and avoid social contacts. Let us protect our brothers and sisters who already have health issues and therefore being more vulnerable like elders. Let this be a time of fraternization and sisterhood. Take this time to truly appreciate your family and loved ones. Read more in the comments⬇️
MAMA HENNA~ Celebrate new life, let your pregnant belly be adorned with Henna. Experience a meaningful ritual and enjoy your patterned belly for 7-10 days. Henna stains the skin naturally and is safe to use when you are pregnant. Henna is an ancient craft practised amongst mainly women from different countries, cultures, religions and classes. According to Moroccan traditions, henna is used during transition phases in the life of women. From single girl to married woman and from woman to motherhood. The Moroccan tradition does not prescribe a decorated belly. The decorations with protective symbolism are limited to hands, wrists, feet and ankles. Therefor decorating the belly with Henna is a twist to our tradition that originated in the West. For me as an artist of Moroccan heritage I’m excited to see, take part and initiate these new rituals. For me every part of the body is a canvas on which I can express my creativity. I use symbolism that is important for mother and child. I draw intuitively but needless to say I do take the wishes of the mother into account. Mama Henna is the name I gave to this service that I offer and I am proud that I have introduced many women to this special ritual. Not only special for the mom but also for me, the artist. This is the only ritual that involves a third person in between. 😁The unborn baby always feels it where on the belly I am drawing and sometimes even kicks at that exact same spot! You can imagine that this entails an extra challenge. Despite the difficulty level, I do it with a lot of love and passion and I feel privileged to experience this moment in life with a mom to be. New life is and remains the greatest miracle for me. If you were pregnant would you consider a Mama Henna Ritual? I’m based in the area of Rotterdam, the Netherlands and offer my Mama Henna Ritual service nation wide. Thanks to @tuning_into_life for letting me hennafy your pregnant belly. Wish you, your baby and your husband all the best 💕 #mamahenna #pregnantbelly #pregnancyhenna #pregnancygoals #pregnancyfashion #pregnancyrituals #zwangerschapsshoot #zwangerschap #zwangerschapsfotografie #zwanger #zwangerschapsmode #zwangerschapsyoga
C🍪🍪KIE M🍪NSTER ~ I don’t make cookies very often but if I do, they have to be in my favorite shape .....khmissa...what else? Thanks to my lifetime friend Samira who gave me this mould. I love it. Unfortunately you can’t taste them so let me tell you what they taste like. They are the Moroccan equivalent of snickers or reese’s. A peanut chocolate bar but with a little decoration 🥜🍫😋. Salty and sweet at the same time. What kind of haloua do you like to make? #khmissa #handoffatima #hamsa #fatimahand #hamsacookies #khmissat #chocolatecookies #peanutchocolate #moroccan #haloua #7aloua
HENNA 3000~ Some digital henna drawing by me for you. While creating this piece, some questions popped in my mind....What will henna be like in the future? I mean in my lifetime alone I’ve seen this art evolving from bold filled hennapalms to henna applications with a stick to pre-cut stencils to delicate patterns applied with a syringe or a cone. Will henna ever be done by a machine? I mean I can imagine by drawing this design digitally it is only a small step to upload it to a 3d printer with hennapaste and when you place your hand underneath it, it will draw automatically the design of your choice. Obviously this idea is terrifying. The human connection in this craft is what makes it so unique and powerful. But I’m being realistic. What do you think Henna will be like in the year 3000? Also what do you think about this digital henna art piece? #handoffatima #original #hennaart #digitalhennadrawing #hennadrawing #hennapatterns #digitaldrawing #digitialdesign #procreatedrawing #hennadesign #futureofhenna #hennadevelopment #developmentofcrafts #adaptingtochange #craftinmotion #analoggirlinadigitalworld
KEEP CALM~ A still life post for now even though there is nothing “still” about my life at the moment! Big things going on this week: 🧿Monday is always a busy day due to the fact we ship all the orders from our webshop on mondays 🧿Wednesday I was in Bruxelles all day at the IMP 2020 Concluding international symposium about museums and intangible heritage. A video about my henna heritage was shown there. Keep an eye out on my stories tonight! I will share some shots and info about about this symposium. 🧿Thursday started off with a morning swim with my grandfather (85 years old) !!! So blessed he is still among us. We nearly lost him after summer due to cardiac failure and internal bleedings. But he survived! During the healing and rehabilitation process he has not one second lost his positivity. He such an example for us. Lhmdl for having the opportunity to swim with him. Thursdaynight I was teaching my @hand.of.fatima.henna.academy students. The classes take place once a month and in between is an online video session. 🧿Saturday I will teach a Henna Workshop for a bachelorparty. 🧿Sunday I will host the first official Henna Hang-out together with Henna Farm by Hanneke @vandebilt1 During this informal event most of my (ex) students come together to hennafy one another and have fun. Everyone will bring some food and we will just end the week with some good henna vibes!!! 🙌🏽 Follow @hand.of.fatima.henna.academy to see how we roll 😜 Lost but not least in the picture some of my treasures hihihi, wooden decorated chest, basket, blue handira and pottery in the distinctive style from the Rif. Any questions about all the things above? Feel free to drop them in the comments! Big hug and have a calm weekend 😘 #handoffatima #headquarter 😝 #interiorstyling #moroccandecor #moroccandesign #moroccaninterior #handira #moroccanpottery #moroccancrafts #heritage #lifeofanartist #intangibleculturalheritage
PLAYING WITH COLORS~ The decision to shift from a “henna pics only” feed to a feed filled with everything that I see, do, love and create has made me feel so happy. For me it is all connected to my (henna) art. Patterns that inspire me or pics I took while I was travelling or even still-life shots and interior decoration....all of these fragments are part of the caleidoscope that determines me as an artist. All the fragments influence me on different levels varying from mindset to creativity. Now my instafeed reflects this caleidoscope and it makes me feel that I’m getting closer to reaching my fullest potential. Finally I’m benefiting from all the million photos I take all the time. I get to share them with all of you. Welcome to my world I hope you like it here as much as I do! 💕 #findingyourway #lifeasanartist #kunstenaars #welcometomyworld #welcometomylife #lifestyles #hennaartismypassion #inspirationallife #passionforcolor #passionforinteriors #ihavethisthingwithzelij #ihavethisthingwithmosaics #moroccandecor
ANOTHER DAY ANOTHER KHMISSA~ I’m a creator and a curator of the beauty in my life. I want my instagram feed to reflect that. So i refuse to share “henna pics only” any longer because it doesn’t represent my story. Henna Art as living heritage is not a part of my lifestyle. It is my lifestyle. Patterns are only one aspect of it. As demonstrated in the picture I like to surround myself with artisanal patterns. Simply because I feel connected to them. This tile is from Tunisia and it depicts a khmissa with a gazelle a.o. I want to tell you that the word khzela in Darija (moroccan arabic) is used to compliment a girl for being beautiful. So today when you read this go look yourself in the mirror and say to yourself: “Ena khzela” and make sure you mean it! I am (beautiful like ) a gazelle” 😍 Practise this every day untill the message sinks in! I’m not only writing this for you but also as a reminder for myself. Acknowledging yourself beautiful is a rebellious thing to do in times when society still judge our bodies as if we don’t own them. Whether you are considered too fat, too skinny, too naked, too covered, too masculine, too sexy, too sexless, too black, too white, too hairy, too bold too whatever..... I want you to know that you are beautiful like a gazelle 💕
IS LESS REALLY MORE?~ If you have followed me for quite some time now, you know I’m never about less is more, not design wise, nor from a photography or styling perspective.....but this design was requested to be a light version. And I’m happy how it turned out! “Less” can work....apparently, even for me! Also since the start of 2020, I do practise less is more when it comes to instagram and other social media. I still share my work and try to comment back on comments, but I don’t spend my evenings scrolling anymore. And it feels like a relief. I don’t feel that I’m up to date with everything going on but It was a deliberate decision that I do not regret. As a businessowner or even just as a person it is just so easy to let yourself be carried away....but we need to maintain our focus if we want to get 💩 done! I’m still very behind on replying comments and pm’s because I limit my time out here for a reason. I try to reconcile myself to the fact that I simply can’t do it all. And I hope you all do too! 😘 #handoffatima #handoffatimahenna #handoffatimahennaart #hennacraft #hennaartistofinstagram #mindfullbusiness #mindfullbusinessowner #beselective #beselectiveinyourfocus
WHO KNOWS WHERE THIS CUPBOARD COMES FROM?~ I have surrounded myself with objects that at first sight, for some people, look like old junk. But if you look twice and admire the patina you can see that these objects have a story to tell. By displaying them in my house I honor their story and I write a new chapter to add to their story. All of these objects are handmade. If you look closely to the painted decor it is only a small step to fantasize about the maker. Here you see a cupboard in which my computer is hidden, (among other “ugly” things that I desperately want to keep out of sight) I once found this cupboard online on a secondhand platform and immediately fell in love with it. I was told that it may have been originally from Bulgaria. But I could hear big question marks coming through this statement. It was very unsure and there were no references. Who of my Bulgarian friends knows if this is true? @stelasaci @indiartcafe @manu_atanasova Or if you are from another country and know about it’s origins I would love to here from you! Let’s solve the mystery! Please keep in mind the cupboard is old ant the colors might been faded a little. One side is more reddish. The khmisa is 1 out of 1001 .... if your business name is Hand of Fatima, you are simply required to collect them, right? What type are you when it comes to home furnishings? Are you colorful like me? Do you love vintage stuff? Or are you all about sleek modern design? HENNA ART AS EMPOWERMENT~ When your friend writes a beautiful testimonial after sitting with you for a Henna Ritual. “Introspection. Meditation. Art. Temporality mirrored in a timeless beauty. Is one of your intentions to seek silence more often? Do you allow yourself to give yourself a unique gift? Are you interested in artisanal art and intuitive inspiration? All these elements can be found in a Henna ritual with Fatima (@hand.of.fatima) With love and attention she gives you not only an unforgettable experience and but also the feeling that you are a walking piece of art.” Thank you @boukjedehaas your beautiful and sincere words have left me speechless and timid 💕 #hennaritual #ritualhenna #hennacraft #intuitiveartist #intuitivedesign #freestyle-application #artofhenna #hennaart #intangibleculturalheritage #hennaempowerswomen #moroccanartisans #moroccancraft #moroccanheritage #hennanederland #hennaartistnederland #hennarotterdam #rotterdam #hennaambacht #immaterieelerfgoed #immaterieelcultureelerfgoed #erfgoed #testimonial #positivereviews #thankfullness
HENNA PAWS~ Whenever I feel stressed, watching cat videos or photos give me instant relief! One of my favorite insta cats is @maple.cat For this occasion I turned this british short hair boy into an Amazi(n)gh short hair princess. It was so fun to play around and create this on my ipad. It was just a first time experiment but I can not wait to make a serie 🙀 Fessi Henna, facial tattoos, khol, antique jewelry....all the things I love on this cute cat. HENNA ART IS A LIFESTYLE~ “From the roots to the heart, from the soul to the skin... I celebrate my heritage when I speak my mind in the language of Henna... Let me hennafy you!” Describe your view on your henna art is what I asked my apprentices yesterday. A simple question, yet very hard to answer! It made me think about mine. I realized that my strong and profound vision of my art explains my ability to distinguish myself from others. This vision is the cornerstone of everything I do. It is the foundation of my life as a henna artist. If henna is a simple trick for you, something you just do for fun, then I am not meant for you. For me, henna is my heritage that I pass on passionately to others while preserving cultural values, techniques and meanings. For me, Moroccan Henna (culture) is not only a craft, that is commonly practiced while drawing on patterns with a rich and traditional history, but it is also and maybe foremost a way of individual expression where I am freely inspired by my roots and as a result I have developed a whole new repertoire of patterns. In my humble opinion, Moroccan Henna art has originally always been about connecting feminity, empowerment and spirituality to celebration, transformation and sisterhood. Even when my signature style is not traditional at all, I remain very traditional in keeping these core values alive in my work as an artist. 💕 P.S. how lucky I was to adorn @ellenduim.handanalyse not only is she an inspiring woman and master of palmistry, she also has damn good taste when it comes to clothing....look how her stunning kimono makes a wonderful backdrop for my photo? #artofhenna #intangibleheritage #intangibleculturalheritage #hennavalues #individualexpression #spiritualexperience #signaturestyle #hennadesign #traditionalbodyart #hennanederland #hennarotterdam #celebratewomen #celebratediversity #celebrateheritage
#OBLIGED ~ Chapter 4.0 has revealed itself onto me yet I was scheduling just a regular working day....but my family didn’t allow this day to pass unnoticed. I was kidnapped by my sister, niece and son...i was taken to my parental house where a big surprise was waiting for me. My mother had cut out 40 khmisat from cardboard with the intention that family friends and acquaintances would make something nice out of it. They were all beautifully decorated and marked with beautiful words. My mother had strung these 40 pieces into a huge garland that decorated the living room I was astounded....and totally overwhelmed....it was a very emotional surprise that I will never forget. I’m grateful for everyone who contributed to this special surprise. My mom and aunt cooked a nice dinner and we had a wonderful evening. On top of that I also received very special gifts....it was crazy....I couldn’t believe what was happening and honestly i still can’t! I owe everything to my family! 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
IT’S A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL~ Let me tell you about the woman behind these hands. She is awesome, started following me on insta when she still lived in New York. What are the odds? She moved to the Netherlands. On a festival she ran into one of my henna habiba’s (ex) students @hennahearts1991 because Sabrine was practising the traditional authentic Fessi style and that reminded her of me.... her hand gets hennafied and they start talking.... What are the odds again? @hennahearts1991 told her that I was her teacher.....and even gave her my business card.... So next thing happened I received an email with a request for a Henna Ritual; “Would that be possible, because she might not be living close to me“. (At that point she didn’t knew where I live) What are the odds? Turned out she was living in my area now... You see some things are just meant to be! She allowed me to freestyle. So i took traditional Fessi elements and mixed it up with some of my signature style patterns. It was a joy and it was a blessing! I always love it when two hands are matching but not the same. According to Moroccan tradition the hands are not meant to be symmetrical, because that attracts evil eye. @krieitivz it was amazing meeting you and such a pleasure to do henna for you. I hope our paths will cross again in the near future incha Allah. I hope everything is going well for you and your family. If you would like to be a testperson for a new experimental design...just let me know....(free of charge 😘) Thank you once more for this opportunity 😘😘😘 Also, IG friends, don’t you think that this is a wonderfull example how things come together miraculously when you are just putting pure intentions out there? In this story there are only winners! Also thanks to you @hennahearts1991 for the generous referral 🤩 #hennaritual for a #worldtraveler #celebrationoflife #celebrationoffemininity #whataretheodds #pureintentions #loveforhenna #loveforhennaart #ancienttraditions #naturalhenna #intuitiveartist #intuitiveart #hennarotterdam #hennanederland #rotterdam
NOT JUST A NECKLACE~ whether you see beauty in this or not doesn’t determine the value of this masterpiece. This is not just a necklace. This is heritage. This is not fashionable. This is legacy. This is endless hours of handwork. This is old and expensive and it is totally worth it. This is art! And I love it! I’m coming back to the gram step by step while aiming for a healthy balance between daily life-business-social media. So if I haven’t replied on one of your comments (yet) it is because I’m limiting my time out here. Just know that your words are appreciated! I’m just gonna leave you now with noting but this Amazi(n)gh necklace to gaze at 🤩 and if you love it as much as me you will be drooling all over it by now🤤 See you soon 💕 People in the past were smarter. A dowry could consist of jewelry like this. Nowadays dowries often consist of money. but money is only paper and quickly loses its value. an authentic piece of jewelry like this only increase its value worth more because they are rare today
MYSTERY & HISTORY~ Last weekend, during my class @hand.of.fatima.henna.academy one of my students commented that I had made my dream come true because I was able to turn my passion into my work. I do agree with her but I have sacrificed a lot. I have much more passions than I can manage. Including this one: history and mysteries. I have always been interested in ancient civilizations, legends and riddles. Last summer, in France I discovered a new legend. Well at least for me. We were on our way back from Morocco to the Netherlands when we stranded in this town. During a walk we noticed that this mermaid adorned many facades. It was an old village with a much older church (dating back to the 11th century and rebuild in the 15th) and its door was open. The researcher in me released itself and of course I couldn't hold back my curiosity and hoped to find answers. The keeper of the church was present and told everything. The “mermaid” was a faerie instead and was called Melusine. She married Raymondin on the condition that he would never look at her on Saturdays and/or when she bathed (she was cursed and on those moments her lower body turned into a snake) he agreed and in return she made him a powerful man. She built palaces in several nights. Raymondin's brother was jealous and betrayed Melusine, by revealing her secret. She had to flee and leave her ten children behind. The legacy of the noble family of Lusignan was born. She was even mentioned as an ancestor of some kings of jerusalem at the time of the crusades. Many noble families in france and belgium call her as patroness. I was fascinated by this legend and it raises more questions....but one answer is very clear to me. Behind all powerful men, whether in history or in present times, there is a strong magical woman holding the strings 😜
TIME TO REFLECT~ You might have noticed my absence. Transition from 2019 to 2020 is not going smoothly for me. I have many things to think about and I’m not sure whether I want to continue the path I was walking in the past decade. That is why I take my time off line.....to reflect, to look in my heart, to question my thoughts....it is a process that i have to go through on my own. But I’m just sneaking in for a sec, because I found out my son is supporting me. Without any conditions he is having my back. Swipe to see it! Now isn’t that the cutest thing to do? On the first picture you see a design i did on him a while ago. (Please know this is jagua and not henna. Jagua stains the skin blue/black and it is made from genipa americana fruit that grows in the Amazon. Oh and before I forget what i initially wanted to say....i wish you all a blessed new year 💕 #intuitivedesign #intuitiveart #intuitivedesigner #jagua #jaguadesign #momandson #momandsontime #newyeartransition #timetoreflect #timetoreflectonlife #artistslife #artistlifestyle #bodyartist #netherlands #rotterdam #handoffatima
PRE-OCCUPATION~ Call me a collector or a hoarder...I don’t care, anything henna related I just want to have it! My son is on the spectrum and now that I grow older I suspect I might be too because this passion for Henna Art has always been so much more. It is more of an autistic pre-occupation. I want to know EVERYTHING about it and want to have ANYTHING related to it. I have narrowed my obsession down to Morocco, Sahara and a bit of West-Africa. Because it was too much too handle. I have done so much research and studying in the last decade of my life...only to find out that the more you learn the less you know and I’m not even an academic. I do this because I have to. It is my life work and I cannot imagine it otherwise. And even if no one would be interested in what I’m doing I would still be doing it 🙌🏽 Can you guess what I show you in the picture? It is called “bata” or camel titty 🤣 It is a box made by stretching vellum on a cone shape. After drying it is painted with HENNA according to the resist technique. This one is hand made in Agadez, Niger, by the woman of a silver smith from Kel Tamasheq (Tuareg) I absolutely adore it. It is used to store perfume or jewelry. I put my amber blocks in it. I love unique handmade things that are rare to find. What does Henna mean to you? And do you feel that your love for it is out of your control? Would love to hear about it! #hennaart #henna #hennaresist #resisttechnique #bata #dagabat #tuareg #jewelrybox #handmade #treasurefind #preoccupations #autismawareness #loveforhenna #hennaobsession
SELF-CARE SUNDAY~ At least that was what I was aiming for....but instead I ended up doing piles of laundry, washing dishes, cleaning out a cabinet, cooking and again dish washing....🥺I should have entitled this post TEA FOR (NO)ONE 🤣🤣🤣hahaha but well in a way I’m happy because it will be a fresh start of a new week tomorrow! As a single mom, running my own business, self care doesn’t even appear on any list that I make. Now that the year is coming to a close I think of the things I want to change for 2020. Probably this will be one of my New Year’s resolutions 😊 Do you have any tips for me when it comes to self-care? Btw this teapot was a thrift trouvaille (@bijdehandje.van.fatima had jij deze nou voor mij meegenomen?) but was originally from @comptoirlibanais and the two eye-shaped plates were a gift from my sweet friend @boukjedehaas and the cookies.....they didn’t survive 🤣 after all I’m a Cookie Monster 🤫 #selfcare #selfcarefail #moroccanteatime #moroccantea #moroccanteapot #moroccanteaglass #7aloua #ka3bghzal Now that you are reading up untill here 💪🏽👏🏽 have you seen “my location” ? 😬😬😬
CATURDAY~ swipe and find the differences 😂 the first picture was taken by me last summer somewhere in the south of Morocco. This house was for sale and apparently the cats were included 😂 In Morocco not only the people have hard lives, streetcats too. Those were lucky to have a safe place for themselves and neighbours feeding them. On the contrary, you see my cat on the second photo. This is how he acts when he is mad with me. He just sits next to me but is completely ignoring my existence 😂😂😂 even when I call him, no response. He always acts this way when I don’t feed him whenever he wants to be fed 😂😂😂 I guess I have to take him to Morocco for a while! That will change his arrogant behaviour. 😂😂😂 How many catlovers among my instafriends? Aren’t they the best? I guess we just love them for their inscrutable behavior. It’s simple they don’t let themselves be controlled....they control us....the catladies...😻😻😻
LOOK FOR 1 MINUTE~ Now that the year is coming to an end I slowly start to look back and reflect. I come to the conclusion that the intensity with which I practice my art is highly unusual in a world where superficiality is the norm. How often am I not declared to be mental? Hours and hours I am working on my photography, visuals and graphic designs. I have a vision and goals that I am steadily working towards in a world that may not be waiting for that at all! But I am convinced that among you, my loyal followers, there are people who feel the same way as I do. So I ask you now not just to click on that like button, but just wait and look. Look carefully and with full attention. Let this photo and post sink in and wonder why it appeals to you. Please let me know that in the comments because I want to build that connection with you! Think about 1 photo for 1 minute instead of giving hearts to 1001 photos. Those hearts and numbers have no value. The real value exists in our interaction, mutual respect and appreciation. Just do it, this picture and post, 1 minute attention and ket me know what yoy think or ask what you want to ask.....start now! 60, 59, 58....
TAFUST~ This little Hand of Fatima a.k.a. khmissa or tafust, is decorated with a letter in tifinagh script. It represents the Z and has become a symbol for free people because that is what Amazigh means. And if you know me you know I’m a free woman in every sense of the word. So I dedicate this post to all the free women in the world. Women who don’t conform to what society expects of them. These expectations are based on patriarchal patterns that have never ever worked in the benefit of women. So men make way, ready or not the age of free women has begun! Raise your fist and tag your free female friends to tell them: “the future is ours!” #womenempowerment #womenruletheworld #freewomen #ownyourfreedom #ownyourfreespirit #freespirit #freespirits #freedomthinkers #freedomfighter #tafust
SPIRAL OF LIFE~ A henna experience can be magical on so many levels. You will become mesmerized when you see the design emerging in front of your eyes. I feel like this design already existed in me. It was the Henna Ritual that made it visible. It reflects my soul and being and this is how I translated this design for myself: “Henna Rituals have always been an important part of my life since i was a little child and the day i choose to start my Henna business (named Hand of Fatima) is represented by the center point of this spiral....so no matter what direction i think i might going....i am always circling or whirling .... going in 360's .... and Henna remains my core (business) It is my true calling that i'm blessed with...lhmdl.... So many magical moments have taken place in this spiral of hennalife... Everything happens for a reason...beautiful encounters with individuals or crazy bridal gigs.....the good and the bad....the successes and the failures....everything is pushing me in this orbit around my hennacore! Henna is the center of my universe!” Also you may have seen this piece before but it’s my fave 🌀 #henna #hennaart #handoffatima #signature #style #signaturestyle #hennadesign #celebrate #roots #culture #healing #spirituality #spiral of #life #ethnic #coins #silver #amazigh #beads #african #tradebeads thanks to my #sister for this epic shot #instahenna #mehndi #art #skinart #lifepath #spiritualhealing #mindfullife
WHEN ONE DOOR IS CLOSED........~ Don’t you know another is open? I’ve got to give Bob Marley credits for this one! Last days I’ve been thinking a lot about this. It happened so many times in my life that whenever I worked very hard for something and the moment of opportunity aligns.....and I have to take it....it never ends there...it always demand another sacrifice from me. So I would like to turn it around....when one door opens, another one is closed. Another sacrifice has to be made before it opens again. I guess they never can all be open....?! By the way isn’t this closed old door gorgeous. That henna stain color draw my eye to it. Took this picture last summer in the old town of Lusignan where we accidentally ended up. I have a fascination for anything old and wheathered. I love history, myths and things to uncover. And I’m so happy that I know about this place now because it was very intriguing! I will tell you more about its history and legends another time.....
RUST & MINT~ This color combo is a match made in heaven. You may have noticed I’m slowly shifting from an exclusively to henna dedicated feed to a more lifestyle representing feed. The reason behind it is simple: “For me Henna Art is a way of life and so many non henna things I do are undoubtedly connected with the craft I am so passionated about. For example this vintage little bag, handmade out of artisanal embroidered leather, is so inspiring to me. It gives me new design ideas but also the fact that a creative mind from an actual person manifested this pattern, from the heart through the hands into material....that is also inspiring and not something we should take for granted in an era ruled by artificial goods.” What do you think about my new feed? It was after a conversation with @veronicalilu that I decided to go for it. I was thinking about starting other accounts, for travel, for interior fun, etc. And she said:”Why not put it together in one account?” And after some reflecting I gave it a go because in the end it is all linked together and it puts the stories, that I want to share with you, in a broader perspective. #mint #rust #hennartisalifestyle #hennalifestyle #craft #crafts #craftmanship #craftmanshipmatters #craftmanshipdetail #storytelling #everypicturetellsastory #hennaart #hennatradition #hennapassion #hennapassionate
COPING WITH JETLAG~ When I came back from @henna_con (I took a flight from Los Angeles to Amsterdam) I was worried to get jet-lagged. Well not really worried. I just knew it would happen hahaha. My biorhythm matches quite naturally with southeast California. So going there is not the problem. Going back on the contrary is the worst thing. So to make sure that I could handle it well this time, I filled up my schedule to prevent daytime naps. The first day after arrival I planned a date with my little niece. And I can tell you we had the best time! Swipe to see our magical adventure in the woods! She enjoyed it as much as I did. That was the perfect start to fight my jetlag. It helped! By the way the first picture is obviously not in Holland. Took this shot at the beach of Leghzira in Morocco. In the background you see a phenomenal rock structure hollowed out by the sea. There used to be another structure but it has collapsed. Force of nature is incomparable!
WARNING: LONG POST BUT WORTH A READ~ Henna has always been a part of my life, a part of my heritage. So when I started experimenting with this Art form I drew patterns that I knew from my cultural background. I was familiar with Moroccan Hennastyles even though back then I couldn’t execute them as neat as nowadays. Soon after that I started to study other styles like Khaliji and Indo-Arabic a.o. My aim was to be a versatile artist. After doing that I felt something was missing. I was able to meet the wishes of my clients but still that didn’t fulfilled my heart with joy. I found out that the thing that I was missing was me. My presence in my art. So in 2013/2014 I started experimenting again by putting different styles together. Adding khaliji flowers to a Fessi designn(as seen in the pic) or putting Fessi designs in a paisley shape among other things. A whole new world opened up and my creativity was boosted. But my heart wasn’t satisfied yet. So 2015 was the year when I started to bend the straight Fessi lines and all the new shapes that I discovered filled my heart with so much happiness. The inventive nature of the designs flowing out of my syringe reflected my inner henna voice. I added new patterns to my repertoire inspired on Amazigh jewelry, rugs but also architecture. And I was growing more and more into the artist I am today. And then I made a though descision. I descided to dedicate my instagram to my Henna Heart. Only the work that made my heart sing out loud 🤘🏽, passed the test and was allowed to be out here in the public. Trust me in the beginning I realized I took a big risk. I mean my signature style is something very different than your mainstream insta henna y’all have been following. But I took that risk with pride, because even if no one would like it, my heart would be singing nevertheless. And look what happened I have been asked to teach internationally, not once, not twice but already nine times....and still counting...lol! And if you know me, you know I’m not telling you this to be bragging about it. I’m telling you this to inspire you! Whenever you feel blocked, the only thing you have to do is believe in yourself! SOME THINGS I DID @ HENNA CON~ oh well what can I say, what words to use to describe my @henna_con 2019 experience....I guess I still feel quite overwhelmed. All the amazing talented and loving women I got to meet! The attendees who took my classes. The hardworking girls behind the scenes....The quiet introverts and the loud extraverts.... the seasoned artists ...the newbies...the old friends and the new ones...it was literally everyone’s share that made the experience complete. I’m grateful for every minute I was there. I enjoyed teaching my classes to the fullest as well as sitting in classes myself. We never stop learning, about our art, about ourselves, about each other. Thanks to @henna_con @hennacaravan for this opportunity. It is highly appreciated from my henna heart! Thanks to everyone I got to sit down or chat with. You are made of gold. In the pictures some of the henna pieces I did. Mainly done in my signature style not to be mistaken for traditional Moroccon style (even though there may be 1 or 2) All done with the syringe (what else?!?!) except for the jagua design I did with a cone....crazy right....wonder if you can see the difference? I can! #hennacon #hennacon2019 #hennaconference #hennausa #hennacali #hennacalifornia #hennaart #signaturestyle #handoffatima #internationalhennaartist #hennainstructor #iloveteaching #artofhenna #sisterhood #learningexperience #travellingartist #travellingartists #lifeofatravellingartist
CRAFTS & HERITAGE~ Last couple of weeks have been super busy but also super awesome hence the silence out here. I enjoy the fun first to share the pics afterwards 😉 For me craft and heritage are inextricably linked to one another. I am a craftswoman and I draw on a rich heritage of traditions and rituals. From this position I was invited to a special conference focused on “collecting of intangible heritage” hosted by @immaterieelerfgoed and @immaterieelerfgoed.be and held at @lochal013 in Tilburg, the Netherlands. (Amazing venue btw) I received the opportunity to speak and share my vision on how intangible heritage can be part of a collection in a museum. It was an interesting and inspiring day and I feel grateful as cultural intangible heritage practicioner to enjoy this occasion and make my voice heard. That day I was above all inspired by the lecture of Joanne Orr from @royalbcmuseum in Canada. First Nations (intangible) heritage is a big part of the collection and archives. But not only are traditions and rituals performed at the museum, also pieces from the collection are given back to the First Nations communities where they belong. Wasn’t that about time, right? Anyway at the first picture you see some woodpainting craft from Morocco that is known for Islamic geometric and floral patterns. As a craftartist myself I always feel drawn to other types of crafts. I love the process of making and creating. The absence and presence of the maker in crafts fascinates me. Even though a piece is not signed like a art painting you can see the crafters signature through the work. You will recognise the hand that made it once you learn about it. I shot this pic in Morocco summer 2019. #crafts #craft #intangibleheritage #intangibleculturalheritage #ichambassador #focusonyourcraft #morocco #netherlands #speaker #conference #immaterieelerfgoed #immaterieelcultureelerfgoed #unescointangibleculturalheritage #craftmanship #meesterschap #craftandheritage #culturalheritage #rijksdienstvoorhetcultureelerfgoed #erfgoed
SHIFTING COLOR SCHEME~ I took this picture last summer in Asilah, Morocco. Can you imagine this being the portal of your house? It’s beautiful right? And if you swipe to the left you can see how well it matches with the color palette of @henna_con ! Cobalt and turquoise, such a fresh and calm color combination. I can’t wait to see all the Henna Con Henna Hues merge into these shades......next week y’all!!! #hennacon #hennacon2019 #moroccotraveltips #asilahmedina #asilahmorocco #inspirationiseverywhere
TOO MANY PHOTOS TOO LITTLE TIME~ Can’t believe I haven’t shared this beauty yet! But I’m always running behind when it comes to keeping my online presence up to date! So here is a memory to the day I got to adorn @uiltjeshennahart hands. An intuitive henna session is a very personal choice and often has to do with drastic changes in life. Henna is supportive, patient and beneficial when you deal with challenges. I love to connect with women on that spiritual level and I love working with powerful symbolism whether upon request or chosen by myself intuitively. @henna_con I will teach a class about symbolism I use in my work both traditional and non traditional and I will explain how it contributes to a deeper connection with your art and your clients. I’m looking so much forward too it. Sharing my passion with like minded people is giving me wings. Talking about likeminded people @uiltjeshennahart has shifted from being my client to being my student @hand.of.fatima.henna.academy That is the power of Henna you know.....once it touches your soul you can’t help yourself for craving for more! Picture made by her husband. Love the viking jewelry! I KNOW WHAT I DID LAST SUMMER~ hhhh one special thing that I did was for a special occasion. We went for a balloon flight when my son turned 16! It was amazing and so peaceful up in the sky seeing the sun rise from behind the high atlas mountains. It took my breath away and I feel so blessed that we got to do this together! Now I’m counting the days for my next adventure.... @henna_con the largest Henna conference in the world takes place very soon! Will I see you there?
FOLLOW THE RAINBOW~ This is not my best photo but I do choose to post it, because rainbows are something very dear and special to me. I wanted to tell you the story behind it but everytime I type the first sentence I can’t go on and I delete it again. I guess I’m not ready yet to share it. Hopefully one day I can when my emotions no longer take over. So for now I hope I can make you smile by bringing some color to your eyes! When we are in despair A rainbow is a sign of hope.
WALK IN MY SHOES~ I couldn’t find out who said “give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world” It is attributed to both Marilyn Monroe and Betty Middler....either way....this is me and my right shoes conquering the world....to be more precisely “conquering” or just enjoying Lake Ballaton in Hungary. Conquering the world doesn’t happen over night, you know hihihi I’m building my Henna Imperium little steps at the time 😜Or maybe I’m just dreaming away because of this relaxing view.... Who cares? We need dreams to pursue them! Step by step. Once I could only dream of travelling the world because of my art and passion. But now I’m gratefull that I have seen many countries because of that! Germany✔️ UK (twice)✔️ Canada ✔️ Hungary (twice)✔️ Ukraine✔️ USA ✔️ So if you ever have a dream, put on your right shoes and go chase that horizon! If I can do it, you can do it too!!! #chasingdreams #goaldigger #pursueyourpassion #believeinyourdetermination #gogetthemtiger #dreamscancometrue #livinglifewithpassion #settingintentions #lakebalaton #hungary #balatonlake
MY CLASSES @ HENNA CON~ As promised in a previous post I wanted to share with you the classes I will teach @henna_con , the world largest conference in the world dedicated to the Art of Henna. I feel priviliged and humble that I’m invited to share my passion and expertise! These are the classes that I will teach: • Fessi; the (he)art of Moroccan Henna, about Morocco’s famous Fessi Henna style and how it is done •Symbolism of the soul, about the meanings of the symbols that I use both in traditional as signature style patterns •Serious Syringe Workout, about working with a syringe as an application tool for henna designs. •Designs inspired by North African tattoo art, about the origin of certain patterns that I use in my non traditional signature style work. And very important to know is the fact that I’m not the only teacher hhhh. I’m part of an amazing line-up!!! @catherinelentdesign @blurberrybuzz @facefiesta @artfulcrickethenna @thehennafaerie @rovinghorsehenna Just to name a few!!! Many more! Check out the line-up on the website. And also I’m very happy to see Nimisha @hennahaven teaching two special classes this year. It is about Conference Coping Strategies and Mindset for the anxious artist. Both important topics because lot of henna artists have introvert personalities and being at a superawesome conference can be challenging! I had the privilege of meeting her a few times and I can tell you she is the best in helping you with those issues! Henna is very personal for so many for us. By sharing the personal passion and creative journey asks for showing your vulnerability too and that can be challenging. But I can tell you that @henna_con is the safest place for anyone to be themselves. I’m counting the days! MOROCCO MONDAY~ Sharing a summer picture taken by my mom last summer. I guess when your skin tone blends in perfectly with the mud walls, it means you are home! Where do you feel at home? I think for me it has to do with discovering new things. A place that has so much to offer that my curiosity can’t easily be satisfied. A place where getting lost means wandering and getting your soul refueled. #moroccanarchitecture #labeautédusud #tamazgha
EYE AM FOCUSED~ What about you? Usually successes are loudly celebrated on social media, while silence takes over when there is work to do. Work to get to the point of success. At least that’s how it is for me. I don’t want to tell you what I am going to do. I want to tell you when it’s done. That is my work ethic. Reason for this is simple. I maintain my focus on where it belongs....right there where shit needs to get done! I have seen so many people working the other way around. Lot of buzz when they are telling what they want to do.... but then comes the lonely hour, when they have raised the expectations....there is the moment they need to deliver and they fail.....why? Just because the focus was on creating the buzz instead of the content. When you wanna buzz better be ready....!!! Is there any work ethic that you want to share? Would love to hear it! Btw in the picture you see one of my favorite Hand of Fatima rings (from Egypt) and a full Fessi Henna design. Want to learn Fessi? You can! I will be teaching @henna_con soon 💙 #moroccanhenna #fessihenna #fessihennadesign #hennafessia #fessiahenna #moroccanhennaculture #hennaculture #moroccanheritage #moroccanculture #handoffatima #hamsa #khmissa #silverring #hennaartists #workethic #workethicmatters
TELL ME! ~ Where do you want this moto to take you? What is favorite place in the world and why should I visit it one day? I love to travel and learn about new places in the world. I’m very well aware of the privilege that I have to be able to travel the world just because I own a european passport. This is injustice and immoral and I hope borders won’t exist anymore in the future. Tell me what do you think? This pic was taken in Mrakch. If you know Marrakech then you know this is a very rare situation.....a moto that is not bussing around...hhhhh.... Little sidenote: Mint ✖️Peach Puff Pink, isn’t that the most charming color combo?
SO MUCH TO TELL YOU~ So many exciting things ahead of me. But due to recent events I’m more than ever aware of the fact that we have to count our blessings and live by the day because tomorrow is not garanteed. With that in mind I like to share some exciting news with you all. 15 september I will kicking off another year with new students @hand.of.fatima.henna.academy Last year was a big succes and I too learnt a lot. So this year will be another one contributed to growth! If you live in the Netherlands or Belgium and want to participate check link in bio. Make sure to register this weekend. And the other big big BIG news is that I will be returning to @henna_con in fall 2019 !!!! If only I would put all the exclamation points here that exist in the world, it still wouldn’t describe my excitement!!! @henna_con is the world largest Henna Conference that takes place every fall in California and I’m invited to teach 4 Henna classes.......Now I will be leaving you with this cliffhanger....hhhh....in my coming posts I will tell you all about my classes! #internationalhennaartist #craftpractitioner #practiceyourcraft #hennacraft #handoffatimahennaacademy #hennacon #hennacon2019 #hennacloseup #signaturestyle #hennadesign by #handoffatima #hennakunst #hennanederland #nederlandhenna #hennacursus #hennaopleiding #hennaambacht #hennales #hennaclass #hennamasterclass #hennarotterdam #hennaamsterdam #amsterdamhenna
WHO’S THE BOSS?~ The one question that truly matters! Please feel welcome to finally meet Hand of Fatima’s CEO a.k.a. The Furry Boss a.k.a. Wonky Whiskers a.k.a Fat Cat a.k.a. Sabri de Babri... To have so many aliases one must almost be royal....right? Or at least act like a royal....he does so when he wants food btw. Food is his only concern. You can imagine that I missed my fat furry guy when i was traveling. So much thanks to @bijdehandje.van.fatima for taking care of our furry boss. He didn’t loose any weight so I guess you treated him like a royal.....his wish was your command! On my hand a design created with Jagua gel. The natural juice from the fruit Genipa Americana stains blueish black on the skin after oxidation. Tribes of the Amazone use it to paint their bodies. By now you all know what is going on in the Amazone. It’s now worst then ever. Check the link in my bio to donate to Amazone frontlines. An organization that helps protecting the people and the forest. What ever you can give....we must do something! Please give!
HOME~ Guess who’s back? Vacay is officially over! 212 adventure has come to an end.... Traveled from north to south and back again. Seen the beauty and the hopelessnes. Laughed out loud and cried of frustrations. From wandering to wondering.... Hopefully I will share more of my vacay memories in the future. For now I’m just grateful that I’ve spend some time with my family from my fathers side and that I got to be in my beloved country again. I’m gratefull for my son, mother, sister and niece to be my travel companions....even though we fight and disagree sometimes hhhh The one thing that keeps going back and forward in my mind is that the gap between richness and poverty has increased even more. While Amazigh villages in the Atlas and Rif don’t even have acces to running water and in some areas people suffer from polution by big industrial companies, the king spends his summer on the Northern shore, where every little street and even highway is hand-wiped clean every second of the day. Every little lawn is watered both during the day and at night. Just because he is there. The ridiculousness of it all is beyond comprehension. And then I found out about the disastrous fires in the Amazone.... When start people in power and governments act accordingly to the statements of indigenous people. When will their voices be giving the weight they deserve. They are our living ancestors. How can we help? It makes me feel so powerless. (Picture by my mom 😘) #morocco #aitbenhaddou #amazigh #travelerinmorocco #instatravelgram #conscioustravel #atlas #maroc
BREAK~ I thought it would be easier to post regularly when I’m celebrating vacation in Morocco. But in fact it isn’t. It feels good to be not connected to social media! So please be patient with me as I will or will not share anything hihihh.... Put trust in me cause you know I’m gathering awesome content that I will show whenever I feel ready! Also I ve been searching for a new pair of these belgha. These have been traveling with me for years and walked many streets. Unfortunately they are worn out. But this kind of quality is hard to find these days. What are you doing this summer? #handoffatima #belgha #babouches #babouchestyle #moroccanshoes #khmissa #khmissat #maindefatma
MOROCCO ON MY MIND~ to be going or not to be going....that’s the question.... Haven’t been back since waaaaaay to long! Due to very personal and sad reasons. Even seeing this pic, makes me very emotional. For me it’s not just a random street name sign in Marrakech. It is named after the city I used to go every summer as a kid. I’m posting this to be reminded that we as human beings can make the best plans, can have the brightest ideas, can have the purest intentions, can work very hard to pursue them.....in the end you never know what awaits you around that corner....what is written for you will be....there is this phrase that I live by: “What is meant for you, will reach you even if it is beneath two mountains. What is not meant for you will not reach you even if it is between your two lips” This is true and that’s why we always have to stay humble and be grateful, no matter what happens. To be going or not be going.....insha Allah! #morocco #marrakech #streetphotography
THROWBACK TUESDAY~ Some shots taken during Africa Now Festival @afrikamuseum, some weeks ago. The first is a mum and daughter. I love how Henna can be a bound between different generations. It is exactly how I felt as a 4 year old experiencing my first time Henna Ritual. I knew I was part of something way bigger than myself. Henna taught me that. Henna is a strong connection between women of different generations. To be wearing henna as a little child gave me a sense of belonging.....I learned I was part of this strong women community. And as I grew I learned to appreciate my values from a womens perspective even if it was a men’s world out there. Henna has made me strong, fierce and rooted. Like a tree that may bend with the wind but always stays anchored and be faithful to its core. Even though my child is a son I could not raise him in any other way. Unfortunately he has grown up without his dad. But he has all these women arms embracing him, supporting him whenever he is ready to jump into the mens world. I hope he finds his strenght by knowing that he comes from powerfull women! When he was little we joked and always called him sheik, because he had a whole harem of women taking care of him..... #hennanederland #festivalhenna #festivalhennadesign #mumanddaughter #moederendochter #moederendochterdingen #qualitytime #qualitytimewithkids #qualitytimewithmom #hennaritual #mindfulleven #freestyle #intuitive #hennadesigns #naturalhennapasteonly #meaningfulart #artonskin #temporarybodyart
MAGIC MONDAY~ Actually what I literally mean is wishing for some magic on monday....hhhh... not feeling so magical today....and with all the meetings, assingments ahead of me I’m in desperate urge for some magic assistance to survive this week. 🔮🧞♀️ But well first things first, sending out all henna orders today is done thanks to my aunt @bijdehandje.van.fatima. Talking about magic, she is my genie in a bottle!!! Tonight I will do some final preparations for tomorrow....one to one Henna Masterclass. Best thing! Sharing passion, skills abd knowledge with a committed aspiring fellow artist....it can’t become better than this! What are you doing coming week? Are you in the mood for magic? Do you love precious stones as much as I do? Isn’t that pure magic....how they grow in the earth? #magic #magical_beauties #magicmonday #hennaart #naturalgemstone #amethysts #purplelove #lifeofahennaartist #naturalhennastain
SUNSHINE~ Summer has started and the sun is feeding us with an abundance of its rays....I wanted to dedicatie this post to @shanti.mehndi . Today she sended me a voice message of her singing “aint no sunshine when she’s gone” because she misses me. We met at @hennaweekend in Kiev couple of weeks ago. She was also responsable for my most magical memory of Henna weekend. If you swipe you will see it. She started singing a lullaby for me, and when the other ladies jumped in and started singing along, I got a bit emotional. It was so good to be part of that moment. Thank you singer Lena @shanti.mehndi and the other girls, @julia_shkura @yara.mehndi @kahenna.art @barteva.mehendi .....you all contributed with your beautiful voices to this precious memory and brought sunshine in my heart! I’m forever grateful! Freestyle Henna design by me. Sun element on my hand was inspired by Ayo mirror from @justinablakeneyhome Nails by @another.nails My son took this shot. MEET THE MAKER~ This is the face behind the feed! I’m the creator of the content. I care about my art. Welcome in my world! I put this out so specificly because nowadays we tend to forget that there are actually living people behind online content. All those pictures don’t appear online out of nothing. Behind every photo there is a creator or a whole team of creators working of their asses. From designing the hennnapatterns to the actual photo, there are many many many creative steps in between. So next time you “add” another picture to “your collection”, think about this! And instead of doing that silently, speak up. Connect with the maker, tell them why you love their work and what it means to you. We are not here to provide you free ideas. We are not here to build your design book. I’m here to build my online presence, that represents me as an artist but also my brand, philosophy and easthethic vision. I’m here to tell the world what I do for a living and looking for like-minded people to connect and cooperate with. This is not just me. This is all creators of art, design, fashion, photography, paintings, drawings etc etc. Next time think about that and act accordingly. For all the nice people that already do that. Thank you from the bottom of my Henna Heart! #artistbehindtheart #artistonline #artistsoninstagram #artistsofinstagram #artmakessense #artmakesyouhappy #facebehindthebrand #facebehindtheaccount #intelectualproperty #creatorswillcreate #wearecreators #onlinepreneur #artoninsta #socialmediaforartists
STAR~ When life gives you dark nights, look up for a single star. Its light will fuel your hope! 🌟 Took this picture couple of years ago in Essaouira, Morocco. Every Moroccan Medina hides so many treasures, all you have to do is look up.....at least in this case. #moroccandesign #essaouira #mogador #star #starlantern #morocco #moroccotravel #moroccotrip #oldmedina
OLD-SCHOOL FESSI STRIP~ Do you love Moroccan Henna? Do you love Fessi style in particular? Are you a Henna-artist? Then this request is for you. Type in #fessihenna and tell me what you see..... And let me tell you what I see. I see lots of posts that are not authentic Fessi and more posts that are not even close any Moroccan style at all! So why does this bother me. Nowadays lot of beginners turn to hashtags to find information. #fessihenna is obviously giving false information. So very simple request don’t tag your design with any Fessi hashtag when your design is not authentic Fessi. You may call me a Fessi purist..I’m proud to be, lol... And yes I know all Hennastyles evolve....and I’m very happy about that. That is all fine just don’t call it Fessi then. Simple as that. Some examples to know if it is Fessi or not? ✖️thick and thin lines are not part of authentic Fessi ✖️Indian vines not part of Fessi ✖️Indian border like mmmmmmm not part of Fessi ✖️Not just any random collection of squares, triangles and straight lines makes your design Fessi. Obviously there is so much more to this style than I can ever explain in one post. That’s why I teach Masterclasses on this topic. And with all the false information out here I’m thinking of teaching a Fessi class online. Please let me know if you are interested! Would live to share my passion with you. And for now if you don’t know if your design is Fessi or not. Just go for #moroccaninspired or #inspiredbyfessidesigns and then we are all happy....or at least I am 😉 If you check out my designs on insta if it doesn’t say any Fessi hashtag then it is not Fessi. STREETS OF KIEV~ You might have noticed that I changed my insta strategy. Couple of years ago I found myself struggling to find a way to bring cohesiveness into my feed. After some brainbreakers and experiments I came up with tryptich posting. I would post 3 pics in a row with either similar background or similar color or similar scene from different angles etc. I was over the moon with it, because it made my feed more cohesive and it contributed to the storytelling aspect wich is important to me. At that time I didn’t saw anyone doing that, so it felt like a brilliant thing to do. Now we are some years further and I have seen so many people started doing this same strategy that for me it’s not fun anymore it doesn’t feel mine anymore. So during @hennaweekend I felt new inspiration to go into different direction. I’ve been walking around with the idea to start some more insta accounts for other things that I love to do, such as traveling and interior styling etc. It was @veronicalilu who suggested me to put it all together. And It took me some time to fully go for this decision. Because I feel that most of my followers just want to see Henna, Henna and more Henna.....but honestly all these other aspects are an essential part of my life as an artist. So here is my first post with some pics I took on the streets of Kiev. I love to travel and explore new cities. It makes me feel alive in a way that can’t be compared to anything else in this world. I love old buildings, structures of old walls, streetart, different languages, doors with beautiful patina, patterns and so on. Anyway for you this scene might not even be worth to capture on camera but for me it is inspiration, it tells a mood, it sets a vibe. It’s streetlife through my eyes. It charges my energy scources. So hope you will enjoy it too! #kiev #kievstreets #streetlifeworldwide #travelingartist #streetsinspired #kievgrams #kievonline #ukrain #travelforinspiration #goodvibesonly #streetwanderer #travelandwork #travelandexplore #inspirationiseverywhere #everythingisart #triptokiev
MEMORY~ Yes I was there, @hennaweekend ! It was not a dream....it really happened...the magnet in my hand is the ultimate evidence...a precious gift that we all received at the end of the conference. It reminds me of how proud I am in my heart of all my achievements so far....from a highschool drop-out to an artist that travels the world to share her passion and knowledge. I’m gratefull and humble for all these blessings. Because even when you pursue your dreams like a lioness that hunts its prey....there are no garantees in this life! If it is your dream you can’t do nothing but hunting, that’s the burden of true passion. Nothing will stop you and you will pay the price. You have to accept that. So to everyone that underestimated me, I want to say: ”here I am, going stronger than ever and not yet done pursuing my dreams!” To everyone that has supported since day 1, I want to say: “thank you for having my back on this journey. You mean the world to me.” Nail slides: @another.nails by @veronicalilu Application: @another.beautyspace Magnet: @hennaweekend Hennadesign: by yours truly Photo: by my son, he is the best! #reachyourgoals #dreambig #dreambigger #workhardstayhumble #workhardtravelharder #khmissa #hamsa #handoffatima #travellingartist #internationalhennaartist #hennainstructor #internationalspeaker #hennaart #hennaweekend #hennaweekend2019 #hennakiev
AYO~ It feels like Summer has started and the Sun has brought me so much happines. This is not just a sun with a face. This hennadesign is drawn after Ayo, the sun mirror designed by @justinablakeneyhome. You may know her from @thejungalow There are not many people that i get inspired by but Justina Blakeney is that one exception. Maybe it is because I see so many similarities. She is of mixed heritage, I’m too. Her style is bold, colorful, ethnic and full of patterns, mine is too. Her vision has became a lifestyle, to me my art is my lifestyle and I definitely have huge ambitions to make that grow. And then something funny happened....I did this Hennadesign after I came back from Kiev...and took this picture a week ago... and then two days later I was scrolling through insta and I stumbled upon Hand of Fatima wall paper.....by @justinablakeney!!! She just released wallpaper with all different khmisat (how we call them in Moroccan darija) And then on that wallpaper (that i obviously desperately need) is Ayo the mirror...see pic 2 So I felt immediately some kind of Ayo✖️Hand of Fatima magical connection!!! Isn’t that awesome? I don’t know how and I don’t know when but I think this wallpaper belongs in my house ...hahah....I guess I need some more magic to make that happen.... Btw Ayo means joy, coming from Yoruba name prefix. Well joy it has brought me!! 46 SMILES~ Yesterday we worked at Africa Now Festival @afrikamuseum and it was superbusy. I have worked 7 hours non stop. No break! But it felt like maybe 2 hours. It was so crazy! Reason for this? I always have photo’s from designs that I do as part of decoration in my booth, just to give visitors an idea of possibilities. (I always work freestyle btw) I decided to take out all my flowery/ khaliji designs and also my Indian inspired designs. Just like my instafeed is an ode to Fessi designs and my signature style, I also wanted my Henna booth to be similar. Other reason for that was simply because it is Africa Now, we need to contribute to this festival with our Moroccan Heritage. I can tell you it was the best descision ever! No one asked me for flowers or swirls. Everyone let me do my thing...my Henna Soul thing!! The Hennapaste just flowed out of my syringe effortlessly. It was one long meditation and instead of feeling drained it reloaded me. That’s why the sense of time was totally lost. I did designs similar to the one in this picture (taken during @hennaweekend, hennadesign on @julia_shkura ) And every one loved it! I had 46 clients that day and every single one showed me their smile after I was finished. I have the best job in the world. TOMORROW~ Since I’m back from Kiev I’m running and flying but all for good causes! When you run your own business you have to be like a tiger....when the occasion is there you find yourself on the hunt....relaxing comes when the hunt was successful! Anyway tomorrow you can find Hand of Fatima Henna Lounge @afrikamuseum during Africa Now Festival. Pass by and get yourself hennafied! Freestyle Henna designs drawn intuitively on your skin. We celebrate Africa’s diversity and we take pride in the fact that our Henna designs are applied the Moroccan way...by a syringe with blunt needle tip. Get yourself adorned ....the Hand of Fatima way ✋🏽💕 Jagua Design in picture was applied by me during @hennaweekend It is definitely an example of what you can expect from us tomorrow! SHOUTOUT TO MACHA~ Sharing some more @hennaweekend memories. After the conference I spent some days in Kiyv together with Macha from @ginkas.m and we had the best time! Our styles may be the opposite of each other but in our passion we can find each other. It is very inspiring to encounter another arriest that goes to the extreme and pursues big dreams. It is like looking in the mirror! Macha keep chasing your dreams. One day they come true because they are already alive in you! Thank you Macha! 💕 #hennaweekend2019 #hennaweekend #memories #internationalhennaartist #inspiringencounters #travelingartist #inspirationalartist #sharingpassion #artistbehindtheart
MISSING THE MAGIC~ It’s hard to believe that @hennaweekend took place one week ago. Thanks to the photo’s I have proof that I actually was there, because trust me the whole expreience feels like a dream..... so unreal!!! BIG SHOUTOUT TO THESE GIRLS~ Came home yesterday...and even though my schedule will be very busy coming days...I try to let the whole @hennaweekend Experience sink in. The feeling about it can’t be phrased in few words. But the photo might say it all. Very proud of @fyoklamehndi @veronicalilu and @beautymehndi for their achievements. It was phenomenal! It was epic! I’m so honoured that I, as a speaker, was a part of @hennaweekend and even more I feel blessed to have Henna Sisters in Kiev. 1001 times thank you! #hennaweekend2019 #hennaweekendconference #hennaweekend #hennakiev #kievhenna #hennasisters #internationalhennaartist #sharingpassion #sharinglove #besthennaworldwide #handoffatimatravels #hennaukraine #ukrainehenna
BYE BYE KIEV~ suitcase is packed, this will be my last night in Kiev. It has been an amazing experience. @hennaweekend was a dream come true. Being among women that strive for commonly shared artistic values is such a relief and inspiration. And what I’ll say now I already have said it so many times this weekend....even though my style is very different I share the pursuit of an aesthetic vision, same way as team @hennaweekend does. Therefor I do not only feel related to @veronicalilu @fyoklamehndi and @beautymehndi I also regard them as my thriving henna sisters with a vision and a mission! Thank you girls one more time for inviting me to be a part of @hennaweekend. Nothing but love for you. This traditional Moroccan Henna design was done by me on @copenhenna . HENNA PARADISE~ @hennaweekend has come to an end and I have to pinch myself to remind me that all of this was actually real. For 3 days I was living in Henna Paradise! Yesterday, I had the chance to sit with @shanti.mehndi and make her a maze henna design. In my class (“symbolism of the soul”) I explained how I use symbolism to make a Henna Ritual even more meaningful and deep. The maze represents the feeling of not knowing what direction to go and she could relate to that. She has a very creative personality but the thing she like to do the most is singing. During this henna session she sing me a Ukrainian lullaby and when the other women started to sang along I just had to cry. I feel so so so blessed that I was part of this extraordinary experience. If you ever wondered if a Henna Paradise exists? I can tell you come to @hennaweekend next year and you will see💕 #hennaweekend #hennaweekend2019 #hennaweekendconference #hennakiev #kievhenna #handoffatima #signaturestyle #internationalhennaartist #hennalove #hennaparadise
UNBOXING~ so many nice things in our giftboxes!!! At this moment @ginkas.m has already presented a very interesting lecture. She for me is like Da Vinci in our Henna world. High class Artist!!! Now it is the turn of @maplemehndi sharing her personal story behind her Henna career. Very inspirational! Wonder what she will share with us? This morning we had the opening and introduction. It was al in Russian and so far I have learnt two words: spasiba and kresiva ....probably I’m not writing it properly....but at least I can say beautiful and thank you ☺️ ☺️☺️☺️ Anyway not my turn today...will be tomorrow...fingers crossed 🤞🏽 #hennaweekend #hennaweekend2019
HENNA WEEKEND~ So full of emotions....who could have ever thought that my passion for Henna Art would take me around the world and yet here I am in Kiev, Ukraine having fun @hennaweekend .....💕 thank you @maplemehndi for taking this pic!!! #hennaweekend #hennaweekend2019 #hennakiev #kievhenna #travellingartist #international #hennainstructor #hennaartist #hennavibes #hennaartistworldwide #proud
STARTING NOW~ @hennaweekend has started and it’s overwhelming on so many levels! For now I’m just gratefull to be here and try to absorb all the beauty! #hennaweekend #hennaweekend2019 #hennakiev #kievhenna
NO MORE HENNA~ I hear you thinking:”What’s going on?....” Well let me put it this way...”No more Henna for me for now....The design you see in the picture has almost faded entirely from my skin and that is right on time because tomorrow I will be flying to Kiev, Ukraine! @hennaweekend takes place THIS weekend!!!! Omg....so no more henna for now...my hands will be empty canvasses....either I might do a little something on myself before the conference starts or I will let others draw on me....you know the women attending @hennaweekend are crazy skilled artists so are the women that organised the event @fyoklamehndi @veronicalilu and @beautymehndi and so are the other two speakers @ginkas.m and @maplemehndi . I feel so incredible honored. I was asked to present some lectures and do a syringe demonstration. The lectures will be about authentic Fessi style(the most well known Moroccan Henna style) and the other one will be about “Symbolism of the Soul”. I will speak about meanings behind motifs and patterns and also how it enriches your work as an artist if you incooperate these ancient meanings that can be traced back directly to the Amazigh North African culture. For me it is a very interesting topic and it’s all very relevant because of the fact that all these symbols were traditionally a way for the women to express themselves freely and give shape to their identity, beliefs and their musings of the soul. And that is exactly what we will do together @hennaweekend . All different women from different backgrounds use Henna to express themselves in an artful way. I’m gratefull to contribute to the vibes by sharing my visions and experiences based on my Moroccan roots. Are you looking forward for my stories while being @hennaweekend ? #hennamaroc #fessihenna #fessihennadesign #hennafessia #naqch #7enna #7ennaya #fessiahenna #hennafassia #hennaweekend #hennaweekend2019 #hennaweekendconference #kievhenna #hennakiev #ukrainehenna #ukraine_art #ukraine #morocco #moroccanart #moroccanartist #dutchmoroccan #netherlands #moroccanhenna #hennanederland #travellingartist #hennaaroundtheworld #instatrip
MOOD~ Skintones, black lace, henna and nailpolish......obviously I ‘m in te mood for @hennaweekend....only 10 days to go!!!! Are you missing my vibrant colors already? 🌈 This is what my feed will be for now...... 🖤theme colors of Henna Weekend! At least you don’t have to miss my Henna Art. This traditional Fessi design contains a lot of hidden symbolism. One of my classes @hennaweekend will be about this subject and it’s significanse to practising a Henna Ritual. By knowing and applying certain symbols consciously your work as an artist becomes deeper and more meaningful. The power of Henna touches our soul and it allows us to express ourselves freely. I can’t wait to be part of the @hennaweekend Magic. I feel very honored to be invited to share my passion and knowledge with like minded women. #hennaweekend #hennaweekend2019 #hennaweekendconference #hennakiev #kievhenna #fessi #hennafessia #fessiahenna #moroccan #henna #moroccanhenna #moroccanhennadesign #moroccanhennaya #moroccancrafts #holland #hennaamsterdam #ukraine #hennakiev #morocco #hennamaroc #travellingartist #internationalhennaartist #hennainstructor #handposeonfleek #hennatravels #hennaartistworldwide
RAMADAN MOUBARAK~ For all my instafriends who are participating in fasting this month. There are so many things in life we should be gratefull for. This is a moment to reflect. And I want to take the opportunity to thank someone in particular. I met @hippiechick333 a.k.a. Eva for the first time @henna_con 2016 and then again @bodyssey in 2018. She is a supersweet soul filled with love and humor (check the fun quotes on her feed, hilarious) At bodyssey she was wearing a sleeveless kimono-like dress with a Hand of Fatima print....Obviously I loved it!!! And now she sent me a similar one in my size!!! Soooo happy and sooo grateful. For the occasion of recording this video (thanks to my son) I put it on the table....because look....in the hands you will see a crescent moon.....well how appropriate is that for the begining of Ramadan? Thank you so much Eva!!! 💕💕💕💕 The golden hand of Fatima candle holder is from @zenzahome #ramadan #ramadan2019 #ramadanhenna #hennaramadan #ramadanmoubarak #ramadankareem #hennaartistry #videomessage #hennanederland #hennarotterdam #hennaamsterdam #handoffatima #hamsa #hamsahand #fatimashand #luckycharm #fessihenna #fessia #hennafessia #moroccan #hennadesign #moroccanhenna #moroccanhennadesign #moroccanheritage #moroccanheritageofficial #artistoninstagram
PHOTOBOMBER CAT~ Whenever I want to take a picture of him, he either turns his head or walks away. No i’m not talking about a child...I ‘m talking about my cat! He doesn’t give me a single chance to catch his face properly on camera! However......Now that I have set up a little scenery here and I’m working very hard to get my hand pose right.....and making sure the flower is staying up straight and holding my phone in the other hand....he thinks it is his moment to shine in front of the camera....he just keeps on photobombing this shoot!!!! And trying to bite the flower petals!!! Can you imagine?!? “I-normally-turn my-head-away-cat” is doing his thing..... Anyway I’m getting ready for @hennaweekend (the Henna conference in Kiev) Very grateful to be part of the line-up. @hennaweekend is founded by @fyoklamehndi @veronicalilu and @beautymehndi . The speakers are @ginkas.m , @maplemehndi and me! There are still some tickets for sale. No matter if you are new to Henna or a pro....we all keep on learning and evolving our skills! SUBJECT MATTERS~ As we speak I’m laying my last hand on finishing the content for my lectures for @hennaweekend . One of my masterclasses will be about the symbolism that I use in my artwork. (As you can see in the pic) I will speak about the meanings behind different traditional Fessi patterns. Unfortunately a lot of meanings has been vanished. And I have noticed that nowadays brides are more concerned about how the henna looks instead of what it means. If you know me a little, you know that kind of superficiality is not my cup of tea. I’m all about meaningful rituals. So I will share everything I know about the symbols that are used in Fessi Henna. But in this masterclass I also cover meanings of patterns that I use in my signature style designs. Patterns that were made up by me or created by me inspired on patterns from other fields of craft, such as jewelry, pottery, woven carpets, printed fabrics etc. By implementing symbolism into your artwork it becomes deeper and it reaches another level of experience. Talking about experiences..... @hennaweekend will be an amazing experience! In just a couple of weeks, it takes place And I cannot express in words how exited I’m about that. It is a huge privilige for me to be able to travel the world because of my passion for Henna. I remember when I dropped out of high school ( because I simply didn’t fit in a schoolsystem) my class mentor said : No matter where you will go you will always take yourself with you....it was meant as some kind of “warning” or to make me scared. The fact that I couldn’t deal with a schoolsystem was apparently reason for him to think that I was the one who was standing in the way of my schoolsucces. Now that I think back about that moment and how it made me feel....like a failure.... But as an adult I know now that it was the schoolsystem indeed that was blocking me. And now I can say with pride, it is me who has achieved succes in my art career because of me and the way that I am. In school we learn 1+1=2 but I have learned: working hard + being grateful = blessings from above!!! 1+1 = so much more!! Anything is possible!!! Come join us @hennaweekend and get some of this inspiration live!
COLOR SHIFTING~ Time to change my color palette temporarily. You know I’m all about bright and bold colors but coming month will be an exception! When you compare this picure to recent posts in my feed you will notice that I’m moving slowly towards a black and pink/peachy nudes colorscheme......reason for that: I’M GETTING READY FOR @hennaweekend IN KIEV!!! (May 17-19)OMG OMG!! So I was channeling my inner @veronicalilu godess when I was searching for props that match the @hennaweekend color theme hihi....and I’m so happy that my search was succesful because in all honesty I don’t do any nude or powder tones ever.....my bold and bright feed represents me to the core. Everything in my life is colorful. The art I make, the house I live, the clothes I wear..... So you can imagine this was quite challenging. But I deeply respect the aesthetic view that @hennaweekend team is famous for! So this is a way to pay hommage to their style and at the same time stay true to myself. Want to join @hennaweekend ? SHOOTING STAR.....~ Now I will tell you about this design. A month ago my Henna Habiba’s a.k.a. @hand.of.fatima.henna.academy students received their diploma. I organised a one day event with indispensable help of @bijdehandje.van.fatima in @openluchtmuseum in Arnhem. During this event they presented the masterpieces they had been working on and they had to do a proof of proficiency. Besides these parts we also had a guest speaker, massage workshop, fotobooth, lunch and presentations. Anyway to keep a long story short. We asked our Henna Habiba’s to come with Henna on their hand as part of their festive attire. Obviously I had to do the same. And this design was the result. My approach was creating a piece intuitively, because at that point all my energy was inside my head (organising, work out the ideas and plans etc) . So I just zoomed out of my brain and listen to my heart. Applying henna is a form of meditation you know. This design manifested itself and now that I look at it I finally understand the meaning. It is a stylished shooting star, as a tribute to my Henna Habiba’s! I’m so proud of them and on their achievements in their Henna journeys so far. To me they truly are Shooting Henna Stars on the horizon of our International Henna Community and I can not wait to see them grow. @hennalicious_by_jacqueline @judithsrl2 @hennarebelle @hennahearts1991 @hetvrolijkepenseeltje @picturesonyourskin @vandebilt1 this one is for the 7 of you!!! OWN YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS LIKE A BOSS~ Flowers take time to bloom and so do I. 2019 was declared by me as the year to reclaim my power (both in private and in business life) now that we are getting towards the middle of this year, I feel spring is giving me a boost in the right direction. In winter time the idea of reclaming my power was merely a theoretical idea. Now it has sunken in and I feel it in my being. I stand tall when it comes to making a business out of my art. I work damn hard for my achievements and now it’s time to own them like a boss! So yes I’m still very gratefull and humble but to that palette I bring in conscious acknowledgment for my strenght, talents, creativity and my proactive business mindset and entrepeneurship to bring it in balance. No more playing small for the sake of others, no more invalidating my powers by laughing away valid statements. No more excuses or declarations on why you are good at what you do. When you think my rates are expensive...... Hell yeah because I’m f****** good at what I do! 💪🏽 When men say this we are proud of them. When women say these kind of things we say who does she think she is? ..... one answer: H.E.N.N.A-B.O.S.S. 2.0 💪🏽HENNA HUSTLE IS LIT 🔥 Happy easter y’all 😜😜😜😜 #hennanederland #hennaentrepreneur #hennabusiness #hennalifestyle #womenbusiness #femaleentrepreneur #femaleboss #artbusiness #empowerment #femininpower #achieveyourgoals #noplayingsmallhere #nomoreplayingsmall #uppingyourgame #proudofyourself #makemoneylikeaboss #ownyourstory #hennaartist #prohennaartist #selfemployedlife #goaldigger #goaldiggers #bloomingtalent
3,2,1.......NOW! EAST-WEST MEHNDI MEET NOW~ yesssss we have arived safely. I took a roadtrip through Germany, Austria and Slovenia and then Hungary. Lucky me I was not driving alone but had wonderfull company of @hennahearts1991 @shahila68. We have had so much fun already! On the photo you see design elements that are very distinctive to my style. During the East-West Mehndi Meet weekend, my Masterclasses will also include these patterns. I am really looking forward to teaching but also to be taught by myself. Because the line-up is amazing @babajagua @rabbyy_mehndi @tokomehndi @melissaaddams . I love this picture. It was taken by my son. He is not here with me and I do miss him. But I’m very gratefull because he is in the best hands atm. MAKE DO WITH WHATEVER YOU HAVE ON HAND~ This is one picture from the slideshow that serves as a header in Hand of Fatima Webshop. For me being an entrepreneur means getting the most out of situations when your means are limited. Most of the time in my case very limited. When I started my business I had zero seed money. To take the term literally my seeds have never been money. I invest energy, knowledge, passion, creativity, skills and most of all perseverance. This pic is an example from that. I’m not a photographer, couldn’t afford to hire one. Don’t have a studio to set this all up. This is taken in my tiny little kitchen (I did the tilework myself with the help of my mum) I always have enough props to work with, I’ve been collecting since I was a teenager and tend to keep it all...thriftshop finds and moroccan treasures Anyway.... calculated to manhours....to achieve this result, in my case, without financial means (including doing the henna, the set up, getting the right light, the post-proces, the help of my aunt or my son etc etc) might take 1,5 working days. Yes about 12 hours!!! Think about that! Some people complain that their pics aren’t pretty and that I’m lucky to have beautiful pictures in my feed....it’s not about luck, it’s all about the willingness to invest either money or time to up your game. Because end of the day I want my clients to know what Hand of Fatima is all about....and one pic says it all.....So I never underestimate the power of a good image. (Btw the sentence says I share my favorite henna recipe, if you tap on it in the webshop it leads you to the recipe and instructions....it is in Dutch though!!! ) Moroccan tiles (made in Portugal though) by @designtegels #perksofbeinganindependentartist #timeconsumingbutworthit #entrepreneurlife #entrepreneur #creatingopportunities #makethemostofit #setgoalsandcrushthem #passion #perseverance #hennabusiness #hennaartist #hennacraft #picturesaysitall #sayitwithpictures #hennapreparation #makinghennapaste #hennaritual #socialmediastrategy
HAND OF FATIMA WITH A HAND OF FATIMA 🤪~ At the moment I’m going through all my photo’s that are stored in my phone. (And I just found this one 😍) I need to delete a lot of them or transfer them to my computer..... I need more space!!! For two reasons: 1️⃣I have organised a big diploma party event for my students that graduated from @hand.of.fatima.henna.academy. I look back on a successful experience. Atm i’m waiting for the pro pics taken by our photographer. I need space here in order to store and share them. You can imagine I’m very proud on what we’ve accomplished and want to share it with the world. If you are eager to see a glimpse of our event, jump to @hand.of.fatima.henna.academy and check out the highlights! 2️⃣ As we speak I already have started packing!!! Why? Coming tuesday I will be going on a roadtrip to Hungary because I will be teaching Henna Masterclasses @eastwestmehndimeet I guess I don’t have to tell you how excited I’m about this....🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳 First edition I traveled by myself but this year I’m in wonderfull company, @shahila68 and @hennahearts1991 💕💕💕so obviously I need space in my phone because I will be taking 1001 pictures 📸📸📸📸📸. On this photo on of the many Khmisat I own. A brass Hand of Fatima with a purple eye for protection and since the theme color of @eastwestmehndimeet is purple I found it very appropriate. Moroccan tiles in my kitchen are from @designtegels (🤫actually they are made in Portugal.....hihi...but the pattern reminded me of the tile floor in my grand mothers’ house....only that one wasn’t pink...that is my design choice 😜💕) #loveforpink #pinklover #ihavethisthingwithtiles #moroccandesign #moroccaninteriordesign #hennainstructor #handoffatima #khmissa #khmissaaddict #khmissat #hamsa #hamsahand #amulet #talisman #protectionagainstevileye #hennahand #eastwestmehndimeet #eastwestmehndimeet2019 #travellingartist #travelling_europe #hungary #netherlands #morocco #hennaartist #handoffatimahennaacademy #artofhenna #hennacraft #culturalheritage #intangibleculturalheritage
