NOT GRADUATING I’m turning 30 soon, and I am still a continuing student. Moving and starting a life here has been quite the ride with all its ups and downs. For years I pursued building my own fashion brand. And yet I’ve always had this feeling of wanting to do something else, something more. At first I was hesitant to go back to school because I haven’t been in 5 years. It was my eligibility for financial aid that convinced me to give it a shot, and I did. By the coming fall semester, I’ll be in my second year. I’ve already finished certificates on web design, e-commerce, and TV Production. Now I’m working to get my associate’s degree in the same fields and hopefully more, while I work part time as a project specialist in the campus. Aside from academics, I’ve found it most fulfilling to have the support of my professors, staff, and counselors. And today, I feel all the more supported receiving these scholarships. I can sincerely say that my community college has invested in me and my success. But this wouldn’t have happened if I didn’t try, and if i didn’t seek the opportunities for scholarships. I know it’s different here in US but, I wish that the stigma around not graduating on time would be overcome. I hope it gets replaced with acceptance that we all have different paths set in different timing. What matters is we keep moving forward. Lastly, I would insist that you ask for help whenever you need it. It is never a sign of weakness, but is the first step to helping yourself.
I chose not to wear this to the film fest but yey there’s an upcoming event where we’ll get to see the director of Amélie in person! ♥️ This girly gingham number would be perfect. 😍 #JeanPierreJeunet #Amelie #egyptiantheatrehollywood #americancinematheque
One more week and it’s @newportbeachfilmfest !!! Still working on my outfit! ✂️
It has been a while! I am just so pleased to share that the two shorts I made for my documentary class last year are being presented in the @newportbeachfilmfest as part of @saddlebackcollege Showcase! Both films are very dear to me. The Catligrapher is pretty much about my boyfriend’s mom who is an award-winning calligrapher, and her constant struggle (?) with her cuddly companions! (Of course, no animals were harmed in the making of the film!)🐱🐈 I am Juaneño is a passion project I started to help the #blasaguilaradobe way back when I was in TV Production I. It was more of a promotional video for the museum then, and now it has evolved into a documentary about the community behind it, and the culture and heritage they are fighting to preserve and perpetuate. School and work has been busy lately, and I am just so happy to have these bits of fulfillment every once in a while. And to celebrate, I will be making a new dress to wear to the film fest! It would be my first time attending one! ♥️ #newportbeachfilmfestival #nbff2019 #filmmaking #newportbeachfilmfestival2019
I’ve been feeling a lot more driven lately. I feel that with school and work inspiring me to do more, I could finally get back to sharing about what matters to me, here in my account. That said, please stay tuned for more outfit snaps, WIPs, and of course, photos of my very healthy Venus flytrap plants! 😙
