Whew! It's been a whirlwind of a week, the last 7 days. From finishing up a ton of things in the office with Rachel on Friday (she's moving from part-time office admin into a more full-time role of being a mom to 5 and only shooting associate weddings now), to bringing on a virtual assistant to my team, to training and onboarding, to new routines, to big weddings happening again, to many new processes, & so many more new beginnings of running a business, it's kind of crazy, but it's a good crazy. ⠀ New beginnings are good. ⠀ Change can be very good.⠀ New people in life is good. ⠀ I've seen so much good lately, and I'm so excited for what's to come. ⠀ I know I'm not the only one with lots of changes happening, what's a big (or little) change you're going through? How can I cheer you on?
Since March, last weekend was my first big (aka normal) wedding and it felt so good to photograph it! It was great to see smiling faces and a great party. Looking forward to the next one! Did anyone else have a big wedding they were involved in this past weekend? How was it?
Something that's been fun over the last few months has been making and creating new cocktails. I enjoy a nice drink every now and then and appreciate the art behind mixology. It's been pretty fun! Even though we just restocked our bar cart, I’m still pretty sure we’ve still been saving 💰 not buying as many 🍸 at restaurants/bars. Swipe right for some of my favorite new cocktail recipes and let me know if you've tried any of them or have any good recipes to send my way! 🍹 Vendors: Photography | @maggshots Venue | @theclubsofprestonwood Planner | @judycordellevents Paper Goods & Calligrapher | @bethanyslettershop Floral | @hautepoppiesfloral Floral Accents | @fleurspressed Videography | @cinemastoryweddingfilms Linens | @marquee_rents Furniture | @afrfurniturerental Dance Floor | @avsd_pro Cake | @butterflycakery DJ/Uplighting | @partytimetexas Photobooth | @plushphotobooth MUAH | @teasetopleasehairandmakeup Artist on Sight | @marrymeinspring Officiant | @sensationalceremoniesdfw Groom’s Attire | @menswearhouse Models | @meganlizabethh, @bhill31

Wow, from coming to a complete halt in March with 0 bookings, weddings postponed for months (because no one knew what was happening in the world), to 4 more recent weddings booked for Fall 2020 + several more for Spring 2021!! I couldn't be happier to know I get to photograph more amazing couples and their weddings coming up!! Bring it on Fall-Spring!!⠀ All that to say, 2020 is the epitome of a rollercoaster!!!🎢 Amirite?!⠀ •••⠀ Vendor army:⠀ Photography | @maggshots⠀ Venue | @theclubsofprestonwood⠀ Planner | @judycordellevents⠀ Paper Goods & Calligrapher | @bethanyslettershop⠀ Floral | @hautepoppiesfloral⠀ Floral Accents | @fleurspressed⠀ Videography | @cinemastoryweddingfilms⠀ Linens | @marquee_rents⠀ Furniture | @afrfurniturerental⠀ Dance Floor | @avsd_pro⠀ Cake | @butterflycakery⠀ DJ/Uplighting | @partytimetexas⠀ Photobooth | @plushphotobooth⠀ MUAH | @teasetopleasehairandmakeup⠀ Artist on Sight | @marrymeinspring⠀ Officiant | @sensationalceremoniesdfw⠀ Groom’s Attire | @menswearhouse⠀ Models | @meganlizabethh, @bhill31⠀
Couldn't be happier for these two who finally got to say I do this weekend after having rescheduled their ceremony 3+ times. I lost track with all the other postponements due to Covid...but wow, Natisha & Vijay were amazing through it all. I honestly don't know how they did it and stayed so positive through everything they've been through over the last several months. Their joy and happiness for each other shined brightly on their big day. I can't wait to celebrate with them again at their big reception next year! My job is awesome and so are my couples, can I just photograph everyone's wedding twice? 🤪😅
Wow, I'm in awe of what can happen with some downtime and some twists and turns in the road. ⠀ ❀⠀ I'll tell you what. I've been learning so much lately, lots of reading, talking with others, community building, and it has felt like a lot. ⠀ ❀⠀ However, I've also felt a bit rejuvenated. I feel ready for the next round of weddings & couples. I have an awesome and even better plan than before. I can't wait to get back on the normal path of business and life, but I feel like this slow path during what would have been busy season was needed.⠀ ❀⠀ I had time to make things better and up-level my client experience, revaluate things, and work on backend systems so I can give my couples THE best experience. The feedback so far has been amazing. New & updated systems and workflows for the WIN! ⠀ ❀⠀ Are any of my other fellow entrepreneurs feeling the same? I hope you've taken time to learn and educate yourself during this time. Given time for yourself, your business, and to better your future and future generations. Let's face it, you never know what can happen or what will throw you for a loop. Can I get an amen?⠀ ❀⠀ Where has a twist in the road taken you lately and what have you done to make the most of it?
It's my favorite holiday today...my Birthday! 😉 (but it was actually yesterday...fell asleep before hitting “post”😂)⠀ Gosh, I'm so blessed to have such amazing people in my life. Who are always there for me and willing to go the extra mile. One of my favorite things to do has always been hanging out with my friends and family. And that's exactly what I've done this weekend. ⠀ 🎉⠀ I got to enjoy an awesome dinner the other day made by Daniel with some great people in my life. The few friends I invited (that I knew were in town) showed up. Like, wow. Truly made my day knowing a handful of my people will show up for me at the drop of a hat, with just a few hours notice. For once, #thanksrona. Super unplanned, but I was truly humbled with those that showed up. Even if they had nothing better to do. 😂⠀ 🎉⠀ Today I'm sharing 10 things I'm thankful for:⠀ 🎉⠀ 1. My friends & family⠀ 2. Pools to jump in during this time of year. Yay for friends with pools that I can go to anytime. ⠀ 3. A husband who cooks amazing things for me.⠀ 4. People who show up unexpectedly...like my MIL who brought me an orchid this morning. 🌸⠀ 5. Casual lunches / Fancy dinners⠀ 6. Long conversations⠀ 7. Hugs!!⠀ 8. Cookies brought to my front door⠀ 9. Coconut shrimp⠀ 10. Laughing⠀
Love your neighbor as yourself. ⠀ Mark 12:31⠀ -⠀ I'm here for you.⠀ -⠀ I'm here to pray for you.⠀ -⠀ I'm here to love those around me.⠀
⚠️ I'm sharing about something I was nervous about. ⚠️ → This week I had an interview with Laura @lauraleecreative for her education course talking all about up-leveling your workflow, inquiry process, how to give value to your potential clients so they're more likely to book, minimizing ghosting, and SO MUCH MORE. → At first I was nervous. I've never had a recorded interview online before with another professional photographer and industry leader. I was excited but nervous about being recorded and on camera. → Once we got on the call, I actually felt so good, I loved talking shop, education, and loved getting to experience something new, that I hadn't experienced before. → I did exactly what I was talking about in the interview though: I did something I was kind of nervous to do for the first time. I went to the next level. I did something I didn't know would go well or not. But in the end, I actually did something I enjoyed and I can't wait to teach more in this form again. → As Laura mentioned something that her coach says, “New level new devil” → What's something you were afraid of, but it actually wound up being a good thing or enjoyable? Or is there something you're a little nervous about that you don't know where it will take you? I wanna know! → 📷 @j.sharapova
