Exciting news! There is a brand new exhibit at the @brandywinezoo ! Yesterday, the ribbon was officially cut for the new 4,000 square foot Madagascar exhibit. The enclosure is home to three radiated tortoises, four Ring-tailed lemurs, two Black and White Ruffed lemurs, and one male and one female Crowned lemur. The exhibit is now open to the public, so stop in and see the zoo's newest members! Note: The Madagascar animals will be in their habitat for public viewing when temperatures are above 45 degrees. Because they are native to a subtropical climate, the animals will be brought inside the Brandywine Zoo’s new holding area once temperatures fall below 45 degrees.

Eastern hognose snakes often coil and flatten their heads when frightened. This reptile enjoys sandy soil, eating toads, and playing dead when threatened by a predator. Despite its startling look, this common species is not venomous and can be easily recognized by its upturned snout. You may see these snakes at our beach parks! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Photo and info from @delseashorestatepark⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #destateparks

Auburn Valley State Park Insider Tip:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Every visitor to Auburn Valley State Park should see the hidden and historic twin ponds at the end of the Oversee Farm Trail. Once you hike down the trail to the beautiful historic stone farmhouse and barn, walk down the hill below the house to the dams and ponds that many visitors miss!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Though there was never a mill at the Oversee parcel that we can tell, whenever it was put up for market it was often advertised as an excellent “mill seat”, for any aspiring miller because of that water feature. The twin ponds do have a fishing dock available and are stocked with fish, so any visitors with a love of fishing should bring their poles with them to sit back relax and enjoy the views at Oversee.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #destateparks
