I have run past The Bean (Cloudgate) COUNTLESS times. ☁️ I've NEVER even looked at it from this perspective, until this week. I was running up the stairs in the park, looked up and it took my breath away. 🏃♀️ How can something I've seen over and over and over, throw a different angle at me? 📐 This is your reminder to look at things another way. Perspective is everything. What is making you think this week? 🤔

The deep freeze is OFFICIALLY HERE 🥶 Once it gets below 10 degrees, I need to think about what I put on to go for a run. Here are some of my quick tips: 🏃♀️ 👉🏼 Layers are your friend. A good base layer and a wind breaking jacket goes a LONG way to keeping you going in the cold. 👉🏼 Shoes. I run in shoes with Gore-Tex uppers. The less mesh the better. Dry feet = Happy feet. 👉🏼 Dress like it's 20 degrees warmer. Yes, that first step out the door is cold BUT that's a good thing. If you are warm first thing, you are overdressed. You'll warm up once your body gets going. 👉🏼 Warm up before you head outside. Anything to get the blood flowing is the goal. Planks, run up and down the stairs. Just get moving. 👉🏼 Check the wind. If it's windy, make sure you end with the wind at your back. 👉🏼 Change out of your running clothes after you run. If you're driving to your run, pack dry clothes. I am never colder than right after I run. Don't pressure yourself. If you want to get your workout done inside, go for it. Outside...get after it. By my calculations, we got about 15 inches of snow in Chicago over the weekend. ❄️ I get a lot of questions about running in the snow, and I'm happy to share. 1) Do you wear anything on your shoes like YakTrax? 🏃♀️ I do not. Mainly because in the city, you'll have 2 blocks of ice and snow, then one block of pavement. If I was only on snow and Ice, I would wear them. They look fantastic! 2) Do you ever skip outside and run on a treadmill? 🧊 I would if I had access to a treadmill. I think they are a great option to have. For me, I just soldier on in my never ending battle with Mother Nature. 3) Is there such a thing as too cold to run? 🥶 Nope. I have not yet met the weather I won't run in. I layer up, sometimes even break out my ski gear and I get out there! Flip through my gallery of my run today, and feel free to ask any questions. I'll answer if I can. "I do love how Tom Cruise runs in movies. You know he goes faster because he karate chops the air." 🏃♀️ This may be my favorite running TV moment 🤣 #cougartown I did my FIRST outdoor run with the @onepeleton app. YOWZA, interval training is HARD. 😱 It was super fun though. I was running at an 8 out of 10 at the end and I am SURE I was Tom Cruise running! Have you tried something new in 2021? Let me know what it is👇

Coffee is something I use as a reward for myself after my run. 🏃♀️ I LITERALLY look forward to my cup of butter coffee while I'm on the path. Get home and get my coffee on! ☕️ I've heard runners enjoy their cup BEFORE their run. Um...this does not process in my brain.
