Easy and Efficient Full Body - 1️⃣Barbell Hinge to Row Good compound mixture of lower and upper body posterior chain 🔑If you can’t hinge, don’t bother. If you can, make sure you stay at the lowest point of the hinge for all the reps 2️⃣Dumbbell Complex Got a push-up, a snatch, a strict press and a heavy press all in one 🔑Love the drop set kind of regression from snatch down to push-press. Can be applied to barbells, kettlebells, dumbbells 3️⃣Alternating Popoffs Great way to get back on the floor for some body awareness gains 🔑Anything flowy that alternates pairs very well at the end of a strength circuit - #letsgetthisbread2020

“Strength cannot be divorced from Health” - Loved hearing this quote on the Joe Rogan Experience today with Pavel Thatsouline, the OG Kettlebell Master. To my knowledge Pavel was the first kettlebell pioneer and brought the amazing tool to popularity in Western culture. This podcast is a must listen to any fitness enthusiast - We need to remember that being strong is a lot more than the ability to lift heavy shit up and down. Gaining strength has the potential to keep your body healthy, injury free and capable while you age. I can almost guarantee anyone you know over 65 that is in good shape spends a few hours a week getting stronger - Here’s a quick and fast strength and conditioning circuit that utilizes two heavy kettlebells. The amount of optimal movements I can put into each flow makes the workout fast, functional and fun. #letsgetthisbread2020 - 1.Pushup, Vsit, Clean, Squat and Press 2.Reverse Lunge (Hinge), Half Kneeling Clean and Press 3.Reciprocating Rows, Gorilla Rows Three rounds of each, minimal rest
Yesterday’s workout, super fun mix of movements 🥖Heavy SingleArm Swings 🥖Kettlebell Snatches 🥖Muscle Ups 🥖Side Kick Thrus #letsgetthisbread2020 #kettlebellworkout #animalflow #onnit #equinox
Perspective 🧬 I used to think strength had to do with the physique you are able to create. I used to body build, eat greens and chicken all day and only concern myself with doing the practices that made me lift heavy shit and gain aesthetics I soon realized that all this muscle has no relevance if I can’t move in a dynamic, athletic fashion. I started pouring time and energy into moving better, faster and more functionally Recently my view on strength has evolved. It’s great to be able to move and perform well, but at the end of the day what is it all for? Physical strength is amazing, but I’m finding out the hard way that mental resilience and the ability to control ones mind overshadows physical strength 10 times out of 10 The older I get the more this rings true. You can’t age without going through certain obstacles, and if you let the journey break you down and KEEP you down, you lose So really is strength more defined by your ability to let go? Can you let go of ideas of yourself and how your life should be to open up to the possibilities waiting at your door? Can you let go of post traumas and analyze your thoughts before for react?
There’s someone out there working harder, and bitching less.

FUNCTIONAL KETTLEBELL CIRCUIT - Last thing I want to do in the gym is pull out a bunch of equipment to complete a full body circuit. For this, one medium size (16 to 28 kg) will do - 1.Clean to Front Step Greasy little movement I picked up from @vernongriffith4 2.Turkish Get Up with Presses Create a stable base to press from 3.Unilateral Hinge to Row Good for the foot, plus I love the high knee raise position at the top to “find” neutral - Positions are more important than the exercises on this one Clean entries and exists on the clean variation Tall spine, stable base on the get ups Rooted, balanced foot through the hinge and row - Let’s level up together @properwhiskey @mvmtacademy #kettlebell #onnit #equinox #functionalrangeconditioning #vancouverfitness
Redefining “Strength” - The bread and butter basics to strength and conditioning are there for a reason. This is not to say we shouldn’t play outside those lines and create new ways of looking at AND defining strength. If your interested in learning more go to the actual professionals @roydianchan, @gooduncleweck @savageprotocols @gurumoves @functionalpatterns - All I do is pull concepts from everywhere and try to mesh them together in a way to makes sense to my level of education and the needs of my clients. This is lab work and this is literally what gets me out of bed in the morning. Enjoy these variations I’ve picked up for the legends of movement and try stepping outside your comfort zone and redefining what strength should mean to you - #strongerisstronger #fasterisfaster #weckmethod #functionalpatterns #myodetox #thefunctionalbro #mvmtacademy #legday #functionaltraining #fullbodyworkout

Vancouver International Open First Place! - Big thanks to @rollacademy @haydenjitsu @yingjuimo @jonisnofun for helping me before and during the competition. @rollacademy is one of the best places in B.C to train and it’s obvious at any of these competitions. My jitz game has a lot to develop and I am very stoked to continue to build and grow. It’s also sick as fuck going through these comps and seeing familiar faces and meeting new people. I am very excited to continue to compete against the same guys as we level up over the next few years! @heelhookgang @actionjaxxin - Side note for my clients/ anyone that follows me for fitness stuff- Control the variables YOU ACTUALLY HAVE CONTROL OVER. When it comes to achieving a goal, building a skill or developing new attributes you want, your mind will constantly try to set you back to being mediocre. This constant mental battle of 'your not good enough' is something everybody suffers from; from your average joe to world champions. These mental games we play with ourselves can lead us to do destructive things that actual set us back on achieving what we want. I’m talking about the daily struggle we go through to meet our fitness goals, not really jiujitsu. You will always have that voice in your head that says ’skip your workout’ or' eat a bagel’, pretty easy to control variables compared to your actual mental thoughts and feelings at any given moment. Control the variables you have control over; schedule your workouts, prep food, get the rest you need and when you have set backs, injuries and life falls out of place, you can fall back on the STRUCTURE YOU HAVE CREATED. You will have to sacrifice other aspects of your life to achieve something. Time is a huge opportunity cost. Get a trainer. Get training
